I spent the first 25 years of my life trying to look like someone else. I grew up surrounded by blond-haired, blue-eyed, vanilla girls who were the beauty standard where I lived. So naturally, I internalized that as the goal.
I bleached my naturally black hair blonde, which then turned orange because obviously I wore whatever was trending instead of what worked for my body and then was confused why I felt super insecure in everything that I was wearing. I followed makeup routines that were designed for completely different features and I walked around insecure almost all of the time because despite how much effort I was putting in, I didn't look like them. And the worst part is I thought something was wrong with me. It never occurred to me that I was just playing in the wrong aesthetic ecosystem.
And so I am going to cut straight to it. The reason you are not the hottest version of yourself is because you are Priyanka Chopra trying to be Jennifer Aniston. Those two women are iconic. They are stunning, but they do not exist in the same aesthetic universe. Their coloring is different. Their contrast is different. Their natural bone structure is different. The way fabric falls on them is different. The way one makeup routine makes the other look alive makes the other look extremely dull. And that is your biggest problem. You are trying to win in someone else's category.
If you give me just 20 minutes, I will give you the simplest road map to unlocking the hottest version of yourself, not whoever is trending right now. The short answer is this. You need to study yourself. And before we get into the how, let's talk about why copying other people is such a complete waste of time. And let me not lose you here because this is very, very important.
Why would you waste your time following a makeup routine from someone whose undertone is completely different from yours? If you have warm undertones and then you do a cool smokey eye, you are not going to look like her. If she has a lot of visible eyelid space, but you have hooded eyes, her eyeliner placement is going to completely swallow your eye shape. If her cheekbones are more prominent and yours are softer and rounder, contour is going to just land differently. If she has narrow shoulders and you have strong shoulders, a structured blazer is going to communicate something completely different on your frame. It's not that you are ugly and that there is just no hope for you. You are just applying the wrong blueprint.
The shift for me happened when I stopped asking how do I look like them and started asking what naturally enhances me? That question alone changes everything and it also reframes your mindset into how you approach your beauty, your aesthetic and everything you've got working for you. Instead of chasing trends, I started observing my natural patterns and my natural positioning. What colors make me look alive. If you notice in almost every video, I wear tones that naturally enhance my skin. And actually, when I go to wear something that doesn't work in my color palette, when I go to edit the video or I look at the footage, it looks so bad. I always just feel like something is off with me. But when I wear colors like this dark blue, like a nice red, a yellow, just very vibrant colors, something in me looks completely different. And I've not changed anything about how I do my makeup. It's simply just the color that I'm wearing. And the color palette part of everything is literally just scratching the surface. There is so much more to uncovering your hottest version and all these different blueprint parts. I started observing what necklines and fits and structures balanced my proportions, what hairstyles frame my face rather than fight against it. Eventually, I built out an entire Canva lookbook. I am not exaggerating. I have a Canva board that is dedicated to my best colors, my ideal fabrics and textures, silhouettes that elongate me and make me look more balanced and just sexy. Hairstyles that suit my face shape, makeup that suits my contrast level, and even celebrity look alikes that share my same features, my same contrast level, my same bone structure, so I can study what works for them.
And actually, this is a perfect place to talk about today's video sponsor, Halara. When I started approaching clothing in a way that I dressed my natural proportions, everything about the way clothes looked on me completely changed. This video is sponsored by Halara, but everything I'm about to say is genuinely how I now approach clothing, especially athleisure and everything and colors, i.e. this top. When I stopped copying trends and I started actually wearing things for my actual body type, I noticed very quickly that the things that look the best are the ones that move with the shape of your body. And with Halara, that is something I love. The fabric that the clothes are made of are super soft and stretchy but still hold structure, so your body is looking its best no matter what kind of body type you have. For example, this outfit right here is my absolute favorite. First, we'll talk about how it fits. The fabric is soft enough to like stretch and move with me, but it's thick enough so that it's not see-through at all because this is an outfit that I would wear to actually work out in, but also just wear for errands because look at this jacket. Like, it's that peplum style. And if you notice, it's hugging my waist, but then flaring outward because I do have hip dips. So, I like that part of my body to be clothed and to be sort of concealed, which is what it means to be dressing for your body type. And another thing I absolutely love about the pieces on Halara is that they're super versatile. So, you can wear them running errands. You can wear it going to the gym just to work out. You can wear it as loungewear at home. Personally, this top is one of my favorites to just lounge around in. It's off the shoulder. It's still super sexy. It's showing my décolletage. It's elegant, but it's still super comfortable. They also have a huge range of sizes all the way from extra small to 4X, which is amazing. But my favorite thing is that they have so many color options. I am all about wearing only colors in my color palette, which I talked about incessantly in this video, but that is one of my favorite things. So, you are not pigeonholing or forcing yourself to wear a color that doesn't work for you. You can actually design your outfits based on your color palette and your aesthetic. And the price point is just super reasonable for the quality that you're getting, which I always appreciate. If you want to check them out for yourself and shop all of the pieces I talked about in this video, all the product links will be listed in my description box, and you can use my code V I K I T0 to get 15% off your order.
And this is where things get very powerful. One of the smartest and quickest ways to have a glow up is to study a celebrity that looks like you, not someone you admire or you think is super gorgeous. Person you wish you looked like them. No. Someone that resembles you. Someone who shares your contrast level, your color palette, similar face structure, similar undertones, even similar hair density. It is that serious. And also similar body proportions because that woman who resembles you has access to the best of the best. She literally has a professional stylist analyzing her best lines. Makeup artists that are only doing looks that flatter her undertones, her contrast level, and her color palette. Hairdressers that are adjusting the color, the tone, the haircut that fits her face shape. The celebrity or celebrities that you choose are literally walking and talking case studies in optimization of beauty and aesthetics. If this celebrity looks absolutely stunning and gorgeous in deep chocolate browns, but looks hideous in icy blue pastels, that's data. If her team consistently avoids certain necklines, that is not random. If her makeup team is contouring her face in a way that enhances her natural bone structure, that is intentional. You are essentially borrowing access to a VIP elite beauty lab. But the key here is accuracy. If you don't find every single thing in one celebrity, go to one celebrity for one thing, another for another, and you get the point. But you have to make sure that what you are studying on them is exactly the data and the thing that you are working with. So if her undertones are cool but you are warm, she gets scrapped. But if she has the same face shape as you, she can be kept. You don't use her for every single thing. Make sure that every part of what we're about to go through in the blueprint is being looked at through a bunch of different celebrities if you're not able to find everything in one.
When I started doing this, I stopped saving random Pinterest pictures of women who looked nothing like me, who I just found attractive. Instead, I curated a very specific and intentional board for my specific features. So, what exactly are you studying for your beauty blueprint? First is your face shape and in a very structural way. What is the width? What is the length? Is your jaw soft or angular? Is there a specific part of your face that stands out more than the others or does everything sort of just blend together and share harmonious proportions? When you understand the geometry of your face shape and like into mathematical sections and all of that, everything else starts to feel easier and everything else starts to look better because now you're creating balance. Then your specific features, your eyes, are they hooded? Are they upturned? Are they downturned? Are they more almond? Are they more round? Do they stand out against everything else on your face? Like mine, I got big old eyes, okay? They are like the striking centerpiece on my face and I love that because I love my eyes, which I used to get bullied for. But I digress. They are the most prominent feature on my face. They have a lot of eyelid space. Are your eyes deep set? Do they disappear with heavy eyeliner or do they become striking and more magnetic? Your nose, is it longer? Is it shorter? Is it small? Is it wide? Is it bulbous? There's so many things to consider. Does contour over complicate it or does it enhance it? Your lips, does it have a defined cupid's bow? Do you have a long or short philtrum? Do you have a double lip line? Do you have a single lip line? Do your lips look better, more defined, or more blurred and smudged out? Your cheekbones, are they structured or are they soft? By the way, everything that we're talking about in this video is going to be in these notes right here that you see on the screen, which you can actually access with the link in the description box. This is called the framework vault where you can get access to all of my YouTube video notes all summarized and done for you.
Then your body. Now we're going into the body with zero self-criticism. We're only going in with like a magnifying glass and just for data and information. There's no judgment or criticism here. Okay, let's make that very clear. Where does your frame naturally hold visual weight? Are your shoulders strong? Are your hips narrow? Are your lines more sharp and defined? Or are they softer and more free flowing? By the way, if you resonate with Kibbe body types, which I do, I'm a theatrical romantic, then you can explore that as well for a more detailed and like comprehensive view. But more importantly, observe how fabric and clothes actually fall on you. Some women's bodies literally come alive in structured tailored fits that are like literally just body hugging. Other body types shine in more draped silhouettes, more free flowing and less structured tailored fits. When you constantly fight your natural lines, your natural body proportions, everything becomes difficult and everything just looks off. And this is when you constantly look at yourself and judge your body for how it looks in a clothing item that looks really good on one other woman, right? This is what we always do. We look online, we like, "Oh my god, she looks so good in that outfit. My body's going to look just like that." You get it and you look crazy. It's looking very, you know, it's like, "Did you send me the right piece of clothing? Did I choose this? It just is not good, okay? And you don't want to do that to yourself every single time you're getting dressed or going clothing shopping. Make sure that you really understand your body type and only wear clothes for that body type.
Next, we go to uncover your color palette. This right here is just the icing on the cake. Finding out your color palette, and it does not have to be so specific where you have to go get a really expensive color analysis done. Just knowing certain colors that you just naturally look better in can take you from like average to completely striking. First, figure out, are you high contrast, medium contrast, or low contrast? Are you deep, medium, or light? Are you cool, neutral, or warm? Also, I'll give you a tip at the end of the video for how to figure all of this out today simply and very easily. When you understand your color palette and you start wearing colors that align with your natural pigmentation, your eyes look brighter, they look more glassy and shiny, your skin looks more even and more bright. That's why I said earlier on in the video that just finding out your colors can make such a difference in how you look.
Then we go on to your aesthetic, which is your overall aesthetic. Hear me when I say you cannot be everything. You cannot be clean, minimal, clean girl and dramatic siren and edgy street wear New York fashion girly and soft romantic fairy dust girl all at once. The women who look iconic have narrowed down their lane. They are very understanding of the specific visual story they are telling. And this is where tools like Chat GPT come in handy and are actually very useful. All of the questions I have asked you to ask yourself are listed right here. All you're going to do is take those questions, pop them into Chat GPT, upload photos of yourself, and ask it to analyze everything for you and make sure you use words like comprehensive and accurate so you get the best result for this because what you feed it is what it's going to give you. So, make sure you're feeding it properly. You will then be given your beauty blueprint. You can then make a lookbook in Canva like I did or you can print out all these pictures and make an actual physical blueprint that you can see, you can touch, and you can reference at all times. But everything will be on there and that will be the lookbook you start using as your bible, your aesthetic bible. Stop copying trends. Stop looking at people who don't look like you and trying to copy their makeup routines, etc., etc. Start building your own aesthetic ecosystem that is just you and you to the best of your abilities and taking you from five to a 10.
When I finally embraced my natural coloring, my very strong contrast, my big features, my actual proportions, everything shifted. I literally had the biggest glow up of my life. Insert proof right here. That is what this is all about. And if you want to go a little further on this concept and how this can actually completely eliminate jealousy and comparison for you forever, watch this video next. I will see you in there.
