Girls, boys, how are you? I am Sebastián González and welcome to a new video. One of the things I like to do most in my life is to travel and get to know other places. That's why every time I have time and, of course, money, I take the opportunity to go out and discover somewhere different. For me, the important thing is to discover, whether it's a small town near Mexico City, a city in another state of the Republic, a little further away, and if my wallet and pocket allow me, to leave Mexico and discover a city in another country that I want to get to know. If there is so much richness in this country that it is not necessary to leave it to feel like you are in another place, just by going to another state, believe me, you will already feel as if you were in a foreign country due to the amount of richness and cultural diversity that exists in this territory. That's why people who are always thinking about traveling to Europe or traveling to the United States or Canada, well, I would invite them to think about traveling and discovering everything there is to discover in Mexico. And in the eight years I've been living in Mexico, I've had the good fortune to visit approximately 30 states of the Republic. It sounds like a lot, but believe me, I still have a lot to discover and get to know. And that's why in this video I want to share with you the 10 cities that for me are unmissable, whether you live in Mexico or are visiting this country and suddenly don't have a very clear idea of which cities to visit. And without further ado, here is the list of the 10 cities that for me are unmissable when visiting and getting to know Mexico. And my first city on this list is the city of Guanajuato. Guanajuato is the name of one of the states of the Mexican Republic, but at the same time, it is the name of the main city or the capital, we could say, of the state of Guanajuato, which is known as Guanajuato Centro. Most of its streets are cobblestone, they are very small for you to walk and get lost through all these alleys. It's like a kind of labyrinth without organization, without order, but that's what makes it a very romantic city. Every time you walk, you come out to a different square, a different place. There's a monument here, a monument there, a cafe, a restaurant, a bar, all very beautiful, very well put together. It looks like a city, like those European cities, old towns that become a symbol of romanticism here in Mexico. Guanajuato Centro is also known as a university city, which makes it a city full of energy, young people, people who are going to have fun and give all this shine to the city. It has a very good atmosphere, and in the historic center, you will find jewels, real jewels: the church, the theater, the streets, absolutely everything, with a romanticism and beauty that you will only understand by seeing it. In the historic center of Guanajuato, you will find the imposing Basilica Colegiata of Our Lady of Guanajuato, which has a Baroque-Neoclassical style, and only by seeing it will you understand its beauty. Very close to the Basilica, you will find the Juárez Theater, the Cervantes Theater, which are very imposing. And if you like legends, Guanajuato will be your favorite state in all of Mexico because it is the land of legends. Any local will tell you the story of the girl who wanted her tomb to be changed, or the story of La Llorona, or of the Alley of the Kiss, or of the mummies of Guanajuato, which are known throughout the country. Not only that, but the number of museums that exist: the Inquisition Museum, the Torture Museum, the Museum of Laments, etc., etc., where you will see mummies in many places. And how to get to the city of Guanajuato? Well, from Mexico City, it's approximately 350 kilometers by road. It will take you about 4 to 5 hours of travel, and I recommend spending at least one night in this city so that you can live and get to know everything there is, but above all, so that you can enjoy a night in this very pleasant atmosphere that is generated in the city of Guanajuato. My second city on this list is Zipolite, a coastal city located on the Pacific Ocean in the state of Oaxaca. To get there from Mexico City, the most recommended thing is to take a plane, it will be approximately an hour and a half of travel, and you can arrive at the city of Puerto Escondido or Huatulco, and from there take a bus to the city of Zipolite. If you go by road, I think it's approximately 11 or 12 hours of travel, quite far. The biggest attraction of the city of Zipolite is its freedom. Listen very carefully, it is a nudist beach. It is not mandatory to undress, but if you want to, you can feel complete freedom, which is why it is very common to walk along the beach and see many men, many women as God brought them into the world. Tell me if it's not interesting. Comment if you would do it, if you would undress, and if you would live this experience of absolute freedom. I don't dare to say that Zipolite is a city, I think rather that it is a small, but very small, town with very small and very few streets, but yes, full of very delicious and pleasant restaurants, bars, and cafes so that you can have a very good experience in this city. If you like quiet, relaxed plans to disconnect from civilization, I recommend traveling and staying for a few days in Zipolite. Like Guanajuato, Zacatecas is the name of another state of the Republic, and at the same time, it is the name of the main city, or you could say the center of the state or the capital of the state of Zacatecas. Zacatecas is known as the city of the quarry face and silver heart due to the amount of precious metal that could be found in this place. Friends, listen very carefully to this fact: the silver mines of this state were so productive, even the most productive in the entire country, that with that money they were able to build the historic center, which in 1993 was considered and included within the cultural heritage of humanity. Imagine the beauty of this place. To get to this city from Mexico City, it's approximately 630 kilometers, approximately 8 hours of travel by road. The city has parks and gardens that beautify it: Arroyo de la Plata Park, Alameda José Trinidad García, and the Juárez, Independencia, and Niños Héroes gardens. One of the things I liked most about this city when I had the opportunity to go is that it has a cable car that goes from Cerro de la Bufa and reaches the Eden Mines, covering a stretch of the city, and you can have a panoramic view, a view from above of the entire city. And it reminded me of a Spanish town, something very colonial due to its architecture. And in this aspect, the fourth city you should visit when you come to Mexico is Mérida, the capital of the state of Yucatán. This city has so many important records that I will only mention a couple: it is the city with the best quality of life in Mexico and one of the safest on the entire continent. I will read this to you because I find it very important and interesting: the historical heritage of this city is the product of the mix of Maya, Spanish, and African cultures during the colonial era, later influenced by French and Lebanese cultures with some contributions from Dutch, Korean, and Italian. Imagine the cultural heritage that this area has, and thanks to its cultural richness, it was the first city to be named American Capital of Culture and the first to receive this title on two occasions. So you get an idea of the richness of the city of Mérida. To get to Mérida from Mexico City, I recommend taking a flight, and it will take approximately an hour and a half. If you are in the city of Cancún, you can go by road because it is only separated by 300 kilometers, and it will be a journey of approximately 3 and a half to 4 hours maximum. Los Cabos, fifth place to visit in Mexico, and with this, I refer to San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, located at the lower end of the Baja California Sur Peninsula. Although they are two different cities, Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, I mention them together as Los Cabos because they are separated by only 30 kilometers from each other. If you want to move from one city to another, it's about a 40-minute journey, not much, and together they are part of one of the most touristy and most visited areas in the entire country. There is much to discover in this area: its beautiful beaches with soft, clean sand, the colors of the sea ranging from navy blue to blue, passing through green tones, and with the reflection of the sun, believe me, they are the most unforgettable and beautiful sunsets I have ever seen in my life. Also, in this place is the Pacific Ocean with the Sea of Cortez. You can go diving, swim with whales, and enjoy all the marine richness that exists in this area. The city is also very conditioned for foreign tourism, so they have restaurants of all types of food, bars of all types of music and style, cafes, tours you can do and enjoy, whether in the desert, wine tasting, trying foods, visiting ecological areas, it has a lot of offerings for all types of plans you can imagine. Along with Mexico City and Monterrey, Guadalajara is part of the three most important cities in this country in all aspects: economic, cultural, social, artistic, etc., etc. Despite being a very large and populated city, Guadalajara still has the air of a town, with small streets, a very well-preserved historic center. I can tell you that the historic center of Guadalajara is one of the most beautiful I have seen in all of Mexico, and there you will be able to find the Basilica of the city, the most important theater, which is the Degollado Theater, inaugurated in 1866, imagine how old this place is, and many beautiful roundabouts like the Glorieta de la Diosa Minerva, which is a spectacle to see. And what I liked most about Guadalajara was its gastronomic offer: its frijoles charros, birrias, its very famous carne en su jugo, pozole, tortas ahogadas, enchiladas, and many other delicacies from this region. And of course, who doesn't know mariachi and tequila? What a combination! Well, this land is the father and mother of these two things and has given them not only to Mexico but to the whole world. To get to Guadalajara, you can take a flight from Mexico City, it's approximately an hour, or you can go by road, they are only separated by 535 kilometers, approximately 7 hours by bus or private car. Seventh city to visit in Mexico: San Miguel de Allende, one of the most beautiful and charming cities I visited in all of Mexico. It is part of the state of Guanajuato, and to get there from Mexico City, it is a journey of approximately 4 hours by road. This city was declared a cultural heritage of humanity in 2008 and has impressive architectural richness. The most notable building is the Templo de San Miguel de Allende, whose facade is in the Neo-Gothic style. Many people travel in the morning, do the tour during the day, and return home at night. I recommend you at least sleep one night in San Miguel de Allende so you can enjoy the atmosphere at night. You will never forget a night in San Miguel de Allende. It is a town to rest, to walk, to buy handicrafts, works of art, to have a drink in a corner, to eat well, to disconnect from life and the hustle and bustle of big cities, and to be a little more in touch with yourself and with the nature and art that this city offers. An important fact: this city attracts a large number of foreigners due to its beauty, tranquility, and especially its safety. Number 8: San Cristóbal de las Casas, located in the south of Mexico in the state of Chiapas, about 900 kilometers from Mexico City. To get there, you can travel by plane from Mexico City, it will be 2 hours, or by bus or private car, approximately 12 hours of travel, it is very far from Mexico City. San Cristóbal de las Casas, besides being a very safe, very beautiful city, is full of riches wherever you walk, because the indigenous current mixed with the European influence of the conquest era, especially the Spanish influence, of course. Many consider it the most romantic city in the world. It may sound exaggerated, but the truth is that it is charming. Go and see it so you can tell me what you think, is it or is it not so romantic? Ninth city: Mazatlán is one of those cities that nobody talks about, but it is a jewel when you get to know it and discover it. It is a coastal city located in the state of Sinaloa, so it has access to the Pacific Ocean. The beaches of Mazatlán are clean, with soft sand, beautiful, quiet, with very few people, and truly, a lot of peace is breathed in this place. I have a theory: when I visited Mazatlán, I was surprised that there was very little tourism, both national and foreign, very few people on the beach, only locals. I wondered why, if the beaches were so beautiful, the place so pleasant, the food delicious, it was economical, why weren't there more people discovering it? And I came to the conclusion that the state of Sinaloa has a very bad reputation due to drug trafficking and criminal gangs that operate in these areas. But Mazatlán seems to be an oasis within all this chaos and all this dangerous part of Mexico because I felt very calm and, honestly, quite safe. And it is, guys, when we talk about Mexican beaches, we always think of Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Puerto Vallarta, even Los Cabos, but we never talk, or people don't talk about Mazatlán, or who among you knew this city before? Leave me in the comments, I'm interested to know. That's why if you want to visit a less touristy, less known destination, I recommend you travel to this place, to this city. If you go to Mazatlán, enjoy its boardwalk, its beautiful and quiet beaches, its historic center so romantic, the bars and restaurants that are all over this area, and well, everything the city has to offer the tourist. And of course, let's not forget the imposing, the unstoppable, the tireless, my city: Mexico City. While Mexico is sought after for its beautiful beaches and natural destinations, and most foreigners who come here come precisely to these places, for me, it is mandatory, it is essential to dedicate a few days to visiting Mexico City. I recommend at least four days to dedicate to Mexico City because of everything there is to see, and especially so that you can understand how the city works and so that you can get to know the greatest number of important sites in these four days. If you don't leave without visiting the Templo Mayor, the historic center, the Zócalo, the Palacio de Bellas Artes, Reforma Avenue, the Angel of Independence, Chapultepec Park and Castle, the Museum of Anthropology, Coyoacán, and the Frida Kahlo Museum, and well, many other things, places to discover in this city. And of course, live the accelerated rhythm of this enormous city, and I recommend you come to party on one of the days you come. You can start in Plaza Garibaldi to see the world of mariachis, from there you can go to areas like Roma, Condesa, or even if you want something a bit more upscale, you can go to Polanco or Santa Fe, and end in a party you will never forget.
