Seven things to never say if you want to make more money. Ranked list.
[music] That's our policy. Do not say that. It feels cold and inflexible. Having a policy kills goodwill. Instead, say, "Here's what we can offer."
Never say, "What's your budget?" Instead, they'll anchor low. And asking directly triggers their defensiveness. So, say, "What outcome would you want?"
Never say, "I haven't heard back." People avoid guilt and this feels needy. So, say instead, "Hey, is this still worth solving?"
Never say, "I think maybe." Soft language reduces authority and certainty. So instead, you're going to say, "I recommend we..."
Never say, "I'll take a second." Everyone knows that's not true, so trusts. Say this instead, "This takes 7 minutes. I'm going to..."
[music] Never say, "Sells itself. Sounds lazy and salesy, making them suspicious." Say instead, "Here's the proof of why this works."
[music] Never say, "Sign today. Big deal." This says, "Hey, am I getting a bad deal before?" So instead say price holds through Friday.
