If you go out on the road today and ask people about India, everyone will say the same thing: India's name is making waves around the world today. Modi ji is making India proud, and people recognize us now. They respect us. This Prime Minister has received seven awards from around the world. Our passport has reached the 67th position, up from the 77th. We don't need a visa for 25 countries. Indians are now so respected. We get visas on arrival in 39 countries. You must have seen this meme a lot. What did America used to say? "What are you?" Today we say, "What are you, man?" Have we truly become this powerful? Or is this all a carefully crafted narrative by the government? Because last week, the US Deputy Foreign Minister came to Delhi and said, "We will not repeat the mistake with India that we made with China. We will never let India become a rival to the US. India should understand that we are not going to make the same mistakes with India that we did with China 20 years ago, in terms of saying, 'Oh, let you be able to develop all these markets and then next we'll be beating us a lot of commercial things.'" In a way, he has issued us an open challenge. On the other hand, the US Commerce Secretary tells us that we are allowing India to buy Russian oil for 30 days. Meaning, we are being given permission to go ahead and buy Russian oil. If you recall, after the trade deal was signed, the US clearly stated on the White House website that if India bought Russian oil, they would withdraw from this trade deal and impose tariffs on India again. Meanwhile, our Foreign Minister has always said that no one can stop him from getting the best deal for his people. So, if this is true, why isn't the commentary passed by the US, that we won't allow Russian oil to be bought or are allowing it for 30 days, clearly debunked by our Foreign Minister? And why isn't it officially stated that whatever the US is saying is all fake news? Sometimes Modi ji stops the Russia-Ukraine war, and on the other hand, China is slowly encircling us from all sides. On one hand, wherever Modi ji goes, countries give him their highest civilian award, and on the other hand, anti-India sentiment is reaching its peak. And this is becoming clear not just on social media but on the ground as well. And the Indian Embassy in Ireland issued an advisory following an increase in attacks on Indians. There have been at least three instances of its on Indian citizens last month alone. In 2024, Saudi Arabia conducted a joint military exercise with India for the first time, and in 2025, this same Saudi Arabia signed a historic agreement with Pakistan, stating that any attack on Pakistan would be considered an attack on them. On one hand, Jaishankar ji flaunts India's power on the world stage, reels of which you must have seen a lot on the internet, and on the other hand, during Operation Sindoor, Pakistan also gets a one billion dollar loan from the IMF. So, is India's foreign policy proving to be a failure, and is S. Jaishankar ji proving to be a failed successor to Sushma Swaraj? So, here is an open letter from me to S. Jaishankar ji. Let's see.

Look, India has become quite visible on the world stage today. We participate in every major conference. When anything happens in the world, world leaders call Modi ji to update him. When our Foreign Minister gives interviews in Europe and calls out their hypocrisy, saying, "Europe has to grow out of the mindset that Europe's problems are the world's problems, but the world's problems are not Europe's problems." It makes you feel proud from within. It feels like no one can take us lightly anymore. And that's why such reels of Foreign Ministers go viral. The first question is, once you wish to have dinner with King John or George Soros, what was the first one? King John. Whom did not him. I think this Navratri I am passing. In fact, S. Jaishankar ji has probably become famous precisely because of these laser-eye edits, which get millions of views. Seeing which people feel that we have now become Vishwaguru (world guru). But this is where people make the biggest mistake. Look, there is no problem with these interviews. If Europe says that we are funding the Ukraine war by buying oil from Russia, then we should call them out because they buy many times more gas from Russia than we do. The US, which imposes sanctions on Russia itself, has secretly imported billions of dollars worth of fertilizers from Russia. Therefore, there is no problem in calling out this hypocrisy. When Shashi Tharoor ji also goes to the UK and says that they looted India extensively, clips of his also go viral. He is also praised. People like the fact that we are behaving like a confident nation. But when this confidence turns into arrogance, and your actions don't match your words, then it appears to be just a slogan. Our Foreign Minister says that he will secure the best deal for his people. No other country can dictate to us whether we will buy oil from Russia or not. But when Trump started imposing sanctions, our government oil companies quietly reduced Russian oil imports, not by 5-10%, but by a straight 32%. And after this, when it came to signing the trade deal, America clearly said that if oil is bought from Russia again, sanctions will be imposed on you again. And when S. Jaishankar ji is asked about this, he says, "Oh, the deal was signed by Piyush Goyal ji." When asked Piyush Goyal ji, he says, "Look, brother, the matter of oil and all is being handled by S. Jaishankar ji." No matter how many times you ask, my answer will be the same: he will answer it. Meaning, neither of them is ready to talk about it. Besides this, look at this example. See your German company supplying boring machines making China, but China is German. Piyush Goyal ji is publicly embarrassing a German minister, scolding him like a child. On top of that, a video of it is made and goes viral on the media. If there was a problem, you could have discussed it discreetly in a meeting. Because diplomacy doesn't work like that. You yourself think about what image we must have created in Germany when this video went there. When that German minister saw this video, he must have thought that Indian ministers' interest seems to be more in PR than in business. Now, I see the same approach in our Foreign Minister. You must have never seen reels of any other country's Foreign Minister going viral like this, nor does diplomacy work by collecting likes on social media. In my opinion, optics are very important in diplomacy, and because of these interviews, even though S. Jaishankar ji is praised in India, it is perceived as an arrogant image outside. Our Foreign Minister says in his viral interviews that India is a $2400 per capita economy. I will do the deal that is best for my people. "It is our duty to the Indian people that we go out in the world and get oil at the lowest price so that the interests of the Indian people are protected." Now, this sounds very good. But the benefit of the cheap oil we bought from Russia for so long, on which people accused India of profiting from Russia-Ukraine, I don't see that benefit reaching any common man. We were buying petrol at the same price before it started, and we are still buying it at almost the same price today. Whereas we buy oil from Russia at a heavily discounted rate, with Reliance Industries and Nayara Energy being the biggest buyers of this Russian crude oil. Besides this, government companies like IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL are also major buyers. These government companies supply this crude oil to our domestic market. But despite this, the common man is not getting any benefit from this discounted oil. However, some Indians are benefiting greatly from this discounted oil. For example, Reliance Industries and Nayara Energy, these two private refineries have aggressively sold refined crude oil in the international market. Last year, Reliance and NYA Energy exported $60 billion worth of petroleum products, and according to some reports, these two companies made a profit of up to $16 billion. Out of which Reliance Industries has made a profit of $ billion by selling Russian oil from 2022 to now. And Nayara Energy has a major stake from Russia itself. But the claim by these Western countries that India is profiting from Russia and Ukraine is their great hypocrisy. Because who is buying Russian oil from Reliance and Nayara? Europe, Singapore, and UAE. And the US Ambassador himself was saying that we want India to buy Russian oil so that prices remain stable. "They buy Russian oil because we wanted somebody to buy Russian oil at a price cap that was not a violation of anything. It was actually the design of the policy because as a commodity we did want prices going up." So, on what basis are sanctions being imposed on India for buying this Russian oil? Besides this, buying oil from Russia also saves our foreign reserves. Because if we didn't buy oil from Russia, we would have to spend an additional $9 billion to $12 billion every year. Meaning, the Government of India has also benefited. It's just that I haven't seen the direct benefit reaching the common man. It seems to me that the common man of the country is only left to clap. When Modi ji visits abroad, the diaspora comes to mind for affection. But when hate crimes and racism occur against those Indians, the Foreign Minister is not seen. Nor is any statement made by him on this. In the last few years, racism against Indians has peaked on social media, the effects of which are also visible on the ground. So many Indians have been beaten up in Ireland. Racist attacks happen on so many Indians in the US and Canada. "Are you in my country? Are you here? Yeah. Why are you in America? I don't like you guys here. Too many you guys here." In fact, some time ago, a Republican even called Hanuman ji a false Hindu god. But has our government ever raised this issue on the international stage? I don't think so. If such racism happens against the citizens of any other country, they create a huge uproar worldwide. And there's a small country, Israel. If anyone says anything against the Jews there, they are called anti-Semites. Meaning, they are directly called supporters of Hitler. If racism occurs against Africans or Asians anywhere, the whole world comes together and says that this racism is completely wrong. Racism against Africans is taken so seriously that white people don't even dare to use the N-word. Similarly, if there is racism against Muslims, it is called Islamophobia. If something is said about the eyes of Asians, it is considered racist and offensive. But if any racist incident happens against Indians, and especially Hindus, it is not considered racist at all. Mocking our accent, even our religion, has become completely normal. Saying "f***" appears completely normal on social media as well as on the ground.
Look, I'm not saying that the Foreign Minister needs to make a statement on every single incident. But to bring awareness around Hinduphobia, you need to develop an ecosystem. This narrative needs to be pushed from academia to pop culture. Only then will there be a change at the institutional level. You can at least start by taking action against social media companies. But does our country's Foreign Ministry appear to be taking any action against these racist attacks on Indians? I don't see anything. After the attack in Pahalgam, Pakistanis openly ran anti-India propaganda on TikTok, which the whole world saw. Even though some Indians tackled this by using VPNs, the Indian government probably didn't even know about it. Now, TikTok is banned in India, but that doesn't mean that a bad image against you cannot be created on TikTok and spread worldwide. This Pakistani propaganda was also spreading widely on Twitter and Instagram besides TikTok, which common people were fact-checking. But no major action was seen from the government. And this is where we lose the narrative war. Especially from the perspective of Westerners, who started saying that India is unprovokedly attacking Pakistanis. India was being compared to Israel, and they also believed that India had lost five or six Rafale jets in this war. Now, it is often said that the BJP has such a large IT cell that they control the narrative on social media. But when it came to creating a narrative for India, all these things seemed to disappear. Besides this, funded propaganda by Pakistanis and Chinese is openly run against Indians on TikTok, which further increases racism and stereotypes against us. In fact, I think we are not only losing on social media but also strategically to China. You might have heard about the Quad. This group was specifically formed to tackle China in maritime security in the South China Sea. The Quad has four members: US, Australia, India, and Japan. It emerged in 2004. But after Australia's exit in 2007, it was almost dead. It was revived in 2017. A Quad meeting was supposed to be held in India in 2024, which was canceled and then held in the US. Now, some experts say that a major reason for the failure of the Quad was India, because due to strategic autonomy, we are unable to commit to any grouping. That's why in 2021 itself, the UK, Australia, and Japan, along with the Philippines, formed another group called Aukus. With Japan joining Aukus, perhaps India will be the only member not part of this group. Now, because the Quad's focus has shifted from maritime security to other areas, the value of the Quad is diminishing. Look at this photo. China has created a ring around India, from the Bay of Bengal to Myanmar, Coco Island, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan's Gwadar Port. This is called China's String of Pearls. In response, we have also built a Necklace of Diamonds. But if we had contained China by becoming part of Aukus through the Quad, outside this ring, China wouldn't have reached this far. On top of that, China's debt trap is spread all around India, and the regime change operations of the deep state have made our neighborhood quite unstable, making India's foreign policy appear quite weak. Otherwise, think about it yourself, why does it happen that first all our neighbors become completely anti-India, and then when the country is on the verge of ruin and they have no option, India goes and bails them out? Look at the Maldives. There were slogans of "India Out." But thankfully, we had a tourism trump card, which brought them in line. Now, a similar sentiment is building in Nepal. Now, we have to see what we do in Nepal. Because currently, I feel there's a pattern in every country in our neighborhood. First, China traps them in its debt trap. Then the country gets ruined, and they come to India for a bailout. But by then, China has already achieved its objective. First, they took Sri Lanka's Hambantota Port, and now they have reached Bangladesh's Chittagong Port. But still, we have sent 16,000 tons of rice to Bangladeshis. Meaning, here China wants to invade the Northeast, and we are feeding them rice. Besides this, after the Pahalgam attack, Pakistan gets a $1 billion loan approved from the IMF. How is all this happening? If we have become Vishwaguru and have isolated Pakistan globally, then how is this loan being approved during wartime? Why does the battery of our Foreign Minister's laser eyes run out at this time? If you recall, after the Pahalgam attack on us, in the operation we conducted, only two countries, Israel and Taiwan, openly supported us by naming Pakistan. No other country openly supported us by name. Then how do Saudi and Pakistan make a deal where they say that if Pakistan is attacked, they will consider it an attack on themselves, even though we are the second-biggest trade partner with Saudi? Then how do such deals happen? Modi ji is part of every Western summit. We are not part of the G7, but still, we are invited, and Modi ji attends, and our media says, "Look how important India has become." But when there was a controversy between India and Canada regarding Nijjar, everyone in the Five Eyes turned against India, even though we say that Canada is irrelevant, and we are more important than them. So, what happened here? Look at Trump too. Sometimes Modi ji was campaigning specially for Trump, with slogans of "Abki Baar Trump Sarkar" (This time, Trump's government). What was the benefit of that special treatment? No world leader has ever promoted a candidate from another country like this. So, why are sanctions and tariffs being imposed on us? And in the trade deal signed to remove these tariffs, it is clearly stated that if oil is bought from Russia, these tariffs will return. Now, some people will say that Trump is a completely unpredictable person. But this was known in 2019 as well, and the intellectuals of the Indian government always say that America has never supported India. They always use and throw their partners. Then why did we do this drama? And that too with taxpayer money. That's why I feel that today, on the world stage, India is losing its friends. Although it is said that in international relations, "There are no permanent friends, only permanent interests." But on issues where our interests align, no country seems to support us. And whatever countries or companies sign deals with India, they only see India as a market and want to make their profit from here. Be it our trade deal with the European Union, or the sudden interest of so many AI companies in India. All these AI companies are selling their chatbots in India at cheap prices or for free so that they can train them on the data of so many people. And besides this, what are all these AI companies investing the most money in when they come to India? In the data centers that are opening here, which use the most land, electricity, and water. And wherever they are established, they only create problems for the local people. And no matter how many big companies you look at, all the money they invest in AI in India is not being invested in developing any foundational model here so that we can advance in the race of AI. They are setting up their data centers here so that by using the power, water, and land here, they can sell their AI worldwide and improve their AI tools by training them on the data of our people. Besides this, geopolitically, Russia is a good friend of ours. But it will never go against China. Therefore, to tackle China, we need to build a strong and stable relationship with the West. The success of foreign policy cannot be measured by Modi ji getting state honors worldwide. It is measured by how many people stand by you during a crisis. This shows how strong your foreign policy is. It is shown by how your country's people are treated in the world and how well their interests are protected. This shows your foreign policy, which I see as failing today. We call ourselves Vishwaguru. But in our own neighborhood, we have become a secondary choice.
