Do you know how Allah changed a paradise-like land into a hell-like valley? This was the nation of Saba. Allah had given them many blessings. There was greenery everywhere, water, peace. This dam was their life. Water went up to the fields. The land produced gold. They had gardens on their right and left. Fruits were so many that they could not be counted. Hunger did not come near them. Their markets were flourishing. Trade went far and wide. There was peace, roads were safe.
When hunger and thirst remained only a name for them, then pride filled their hearts, then they said, "This is all the result of our intellect. Yes, we do not need anyone. We ourselves are powerful." They forgot Allah's gratitude. Ease became a burden for them. Blessings started to seem small to them.
When ingratitude increased beyond limits, then Allah sent a sign. A crack appeared in the dam. Then Allah sent a person who forbade people from ingratitude and said, "Repent, otherwise the consequence will not be good. Do not try to scare us." So when they did not accept the word, then water came into their fields, their gardens were destroyed, and they invited Allah's punishment.
Then the dam broke, a tremendous flood came, it swept everything away. The flood swept away everything: houses, fields, animals, everything. In front of Allah's power, everyone was helpless. They broke. They scattered. Their city became empty.
Allah gave. They did not show gratitude. Allah took it away. Today we have received strength, health, and opportunity.
