LS: Are you experiencing things in your household, in your family, your finances, your marriage, even, that are just unexplainable? It seems like you just cannot get victory or breakthrough over these things. One of the reasons this might be happening is that you have items in your household that need to be exposed and you need to get them out. Why? Because there are certain things that I believe open doors to the devil, but good news, you can close every single door that's open to darkness, and we're going to show you how today.

LS: Welcome to The Resting Place, I'm your host, Larry Sparks, and this show is all about creating a resting place for the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit. Specifically, I want to talk about creating a resting place for God in your household. I believe you have control over the atmosphere of your house. You have the ability to set the environment so that it's under the influence of the Holy Spirit, and I have my wonderful guest here, Jennifer LeClaire. You've- you've written this amazing, very timely book on cleansing your home from evil, and people might be like, what? I don't have shrines or idols, or maybe they do, but it's one of those things where I felt like the Lord said He wants to create a habitation in our homes, but it's one of those things where we need to recognize that there might be open doors to the devil that we have through objects or through items, even through certain things that we watch and listen to, because sometimes things happen in our lives or our families that are, they're not explainable. We can't get breakthrough. We can't get victory, and we wonder why is this happening? I feel like the Lord is saying because there are doors that need to be shut. So, I mean, how did you get on this subject? I mean, have you, have you experienced this type of phenomenon?
JL: I have, and I can't remember where I learned about it, but what I do remember, one very dramatic episode, was when I moved into my most recent condo, my loft in Fort Lauderdale, and I couldn't sleep for days. Now, here's the thing. I understand the, the concept of having objects or things in your home that can open the door for the devil. So, when I moved from my last condo, I made sure as I was packing, nothing's going with me. If there's anything here, I'm getting rid of it. I couldn't sleep for days and I thought maybe it's because I'm, I'm in a new place. No, I sleep in hotels all the time, and one morning when I was going to do my prayer call, I needed a pen and a paper. I looked through this whole house. This, this new house I look through- There was nothing. It was empty, but I found this drawer that was hidden in this little desk and I pulled open the drawer and I found a pen. What I also found were these really evil, wicked Jezebel-like comic books.
LS: Wow.
JL: And the Lord showed me, this is what's causing this insomnia that you've been having, and it blew my mind.
LS: And it's one of those things where we don't want to send people on a paranoid witch hunt through that, but at the same time, it's one of those things where those types of things might be the reason that people are dealing with some of the stuff they're dealing with. I mean, it's quite common.
JL: Well, the enemy needs an invitation. So, one of the ways we invite the work of the enemy in our lives, we know, is through our mouth, right, through agreeing with the words of our mouth. The thoughts he puts in our mind, we agree with our mouth. Well, we also open a door and invite him in through things we bring in our house that are evil or demonic. These things do- spirits can be on objects, and we know that curses can be on objects, and we know that from the pages of scripture, that it's real, but we don't immediately, our minds don't go there.
LS: Now, some people who are watching might be thinking, I've never brought, like, cursed objects in my household. I mean, there's a lot of believers, I'm sure all of us at some point or another have had this happen. What are some ways, or how, how might we bring some of these things into our homes?
JL: Well, you know, I travel to different nations and everybody goes on vacation somewhere.
LS: That's what I was thinking.
JL: Even within the United States, you could go to, I went to the Navajo Nation in New Mexico, and of course,
LS: Yeah.
JL: there's a lot of Native American stuff there, but it's not just Native American stuff, old Egyptian artifacts. We went to Egypt this past year and we went to this gift shop and they were trying to give us all these hieroglyphic things. And I, I'm like, no, no- I'm not bringing that in my house because these things are antichrists. They're anti-God. They don't please Him. They are essentially a form of an idol.
LS: Yeah. Yeah. We want to encourage those of you who are watching right now, again, we want to inform you and we want to educate you, and I do believe the Holy Spirit throughout this show, just be sensitive, just listen to His voice. He might highlight something. I mean, I'm sure as you have ministered to people over the years, it's not one of these things where we get so introspective, like, oh, God, what is the thing in my house? But it's almost saying, okay, Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit is very conversational. He will highlight and He will tell us some things. I mean, how has that happened as you've maybe ministered to people over the years? I mean, has God highlighted things to people that they might need to get rid of or they, I mean, that type of thing?
JL: Yeah, just sitting under a teaching, or reading a book on this topic because the Holy- because the Holy Spirit sees you're interested. You want to know, if you want to know the truth, He'll show you the truth.
LS: Yes.
JL: And so, I'll sometimes teach on this. One time I was teaching on this topic and the Holy Spirit showed me something in my house. I'm like, whoa, I had to stop the teaching. I'm like, goodness, I forgot all about that because people send us gifts, you know, we have albums, or we watch certain TV shows, and these are gates into our home.
LS: Well, and that's one of those things I, I want to dive on into that, and we'll probably cover it a little bit more in the next segment, but I'm thinking of gates. I'm thinking of portals where we open up influence to the enemy. This is not just cursed objects, and we've talked about that, but, Jennifer, you just hit on it. Even the things that we expose ourselves to when it comes to television programs, that type of thing. Folks, please hear us. This is not some legalistic thing we're saying, well, don't watch this, or if it's rated this, don't watch, no. It has, I mean, it comes down to what content are we setting before our eyes? And is that opening something up to darkness?
JL: It does. It's absolutely real, and we have to understand that, you know, as Christians, we're called to walk in- it's not religious, it's not legalistic, but there was, many years ago, there was a movie that my friend brought over to watch, and in this movie, this, this- character was playing the part of God, and it was so irreverent, and my spirit began to grieve and I started to get sick to my stomach, and I said, you know, I can't watch this movie. She's like, there's nothing wrong with it. It's just fun. I said, that's okay for you, but for me, the Holy Spirit is showing me I can't watch this, and so there is, there's, we're all on different paths. Some things are a matter of conscience and some things are a matter of black and white, and there's certain things we bring in our homes or allow in our homes, or that our children, our teenagers bring in there, and that really do open the door wide for demonic activity in our lives.
LS: Well, it's interesting. I feel like in the next segment, one of the things the Holy Spirit's highlighting to me is there's a lot of people, and again, we just want to help them, but I think of so many people who have watched certain programs, I'm not, it's not even like the programs on TV are downright evil, and like you said, everybody's on a different path, but there's so much out there that's crime and murder and darkness and now the, the resurgence of such supernaturalism and all that type of thing. Those things do open doors and people end up walking in great anxiety and fear and paranoia because there's some of this stuff that they're watching and feeding on.
JL: They do because they've agreed with darkness. They have set their eyes on darkness, you know, the Lord says that if we keep our mind on Him, He'll keep us in perfect peace. When we put our mind on darkness, we are inviting fear, anxiety, anger, all manner of, of ungodly emotions, and then it affects not just our lives. It affects the people around us. It could affect our finances.
LS: Yes.
JL: The devil wants to ripple through as many areas of our life as he can, and we can, the good news is, as you said in the opening, we can slam the door shut. It is not hard.
LS: Yes. Yeah. And I love that because it puts the power back into the hands of the people, the folks, they don't need to tolerate it. They don't just need to become a victim of the devil and his demons. They have authority to shut those doors, and it's amazing how many of the root causes of the stuff that they're going- I mean, it's right under their nose. It's just the stuff we're watching, listening to. So, get ready in this next segment, I really feel led of the Lord, for us to just kind of pray, minister, discern what the Holy Spirit is saying and really equip you to shut, shut some of the doors, get rid of some of the objects, maybe turn off some of the shows. Listen, we're not trying to, like, poop the party. We're not trying to kill the fun. We're actually trying to stop the devil from wreaking havoc in your life. So, get ready. I believe the Holy Spirit is going to do something powerful in your life. Join us in just a minute.

LS: Welcome back to The Resting Place. This is Larry Sparks. I have my special guest, Jennifer LeClaire. We're going into deliverance mode right now. We're going to go into freedom mode. I even see right now in the Spirit; the Lord wants to equip you. He's not just going to have us do this for you. He's going to equip you to shut the door in the devil's face, because I believe there are so many things that we brought into our house, programs that we've watched, things that have actually contributed to the atmosphere, not only in our homes, in our families, in our finances, in our lives, where you've been believing for a breakthrough, you've wanted something to shift and it hasn't happened, and there are just some doors we need to shut. So, Jennifer, what would be really the first step to help encourage the people who are watching? I mean, just, just speak to them for a moment, how would you lead them in this process?
JL: Well, I would make myself aware of the types of things that could be in your home. There is media, there, violent video games, even things, emblems on t-shirts. You know, some of the teenagers today wear some of them, they don't even know what it means. There are some controversial, controversial symbols from ancient times that may be on, you know, a vase or on a book, and so if, ignorance, you know, Paul said this, do not be ignorant of the devil's devices, and ignorance is not bliss. We don't get to say, well, God, God, I didn't know that this was evil. We have to educate ourselves, and that's what the book does, goes deep into that, and there's just so many things, but you don't have to be intimidated by that because you also have the Holy Spirit, and He will lead you and guide you. You're going to have to get, be aware, or if you don't know it all, go through your home, say Holy Spirit, show me what is in here that is opening a portal of hell in my life, because this could cause infirmity. This could cause relational issues. This could cause financial issues. These accursed objects really allow a curse to operate in your life, and I'll say this. The Bible says the curse causeless shall not land, but if the curse has a cause, if the curse has a right, it will land and again, the good news is you can break it, but you've got to see it. A devil exposed is a devil defeated.
LS: Come on. I believe the Lord is saying right now to those of you who are watching, it's time to do some Holy Ghost housecleaning, and it's one of those things where, again, not paranoia driven, but you just show up with the Holy Spirit as you would do spring cleaning, as you would do something that we do in our lives all the time. Again, doesn't need to be weird. It doesn't need to be kooky, but I want to encourage you, after watching this program, even reading through the book, just go with the Holy Spirit. He's a person. He's not some force. He's not a wind. He's not a fiery manifest that way. He is a person, I believe, like He's saying this right now. He wants to walk with you hand in hand through your household and He wants to reveal things to you that I believe, Jennifer, and I'm sure you've seen this, as people get rid of those things, the atmosphere will shift.
JL: Yes, the atmosphere absolutely does shift. You know, I know there's, I've had friends where they just feel an evil presence in their house. They'll hear weird noises in the middle of the night. Nobody is there. The dog is barking and there's nobody there. It's an evil presence and we have authority in our homes, but if we don't take that authority, the enemy will slide in like the snake that he is and wreak havoc on our lives, and so the good news is, is we can put our foot down, we can kick him out in Jesus Name. We don't have to tolerate it, and so being aware of the Holy Spirit, treasuring His presence in your home, that's half the battle.
LS: Because this might seem like a strange phenomenon, you might be thinking, I've had this object in my house, I've had these books, I've had these videos, whatever. I've had them for a while, but why is it now, all of a sudden they are actually producing all of this demonic activity? Why did it seem like the devil was quiet, and now all of a sudden he's actually using these as a gateway? I can, I can tell you this and I can encourage you. It's almost like he's waiting for the moments of advancement. He's waiting for the moments on God's Kingdom calendar when you, when your family are actually called to advance into the next thing, so he looks for that legal right that he can try to use to hold people back from fulfilling the things they've been called to, and he looks for anything he can. So, the good news is, partner with Holy Spirit, go on this wonderful adventure. Let it be encouraging. Don't be scared. Don't be nervous, because here's the good news. When you find those sources, when you find those open doors, you can kick the devil out of your house, and not only that, I believe people are going to actually go to their next level in their walk with God.
JL: Oh, yes, because, you know, there are hindering spirits that hinder us, but some people will tell me, well, I fall asleep when I read the Word or I can't seem to concentrate on the Word, or, you know, I can't enter into worship in my home, and sometimes that's because the atmosphere is clouded by evil spirits, and so, we've got to be a people that doesn't wait for the devil. I love what you said about, you know, the enemy coming at the right time? You know, we, we want to take a preemptive strike, we don't want to wait for the enemy to stop us, to hinder us to, to- stymie us. We want to go now and figure out where those legal rights are and take them to the cross and, and say, no mas devil, no more devil.
LS: Yes.
JL: And go on up with God, because when you cleanse your home from evil and your home becomes a sanctuary for the Lord, you will have more encounters. You will hear the Lord better. You will begin to prophesy. I'm telling you; it will revolutionize your life.
LS: Wow. Well, the enemy does wait for those moments of advancement. So, here's the good news. We can cut him off before he comes in to try to find something that he can use against us. We can do this Holy Ghost house cleaning. And I love the subtitle of the book, Kick the Devil Out of Your House. Let that empower you again, as Jennifer said. And that's one hundred percent true. You have authority. I really believe that is a message that I'm grateful for people like Kenneth Hagan, who really pioneered on the authority of the believer. I believe that this book so wonderfully, this message so wonderfully reinforces the authority that we have.
JL: We do. We have authority. We have Christ's delegated authority is not a sub-par authority. It's not a, you know, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It is the authority of heaven. And when we agree with Heaven and when we speak the Word of God in the name of Yeshua, the devil must bow, and he must flee. Yes. So, he will run. He will flee. He will be glad to get out of your house. When the enemy sees that you know who you are in Christ and that you are no longer going to tolerate, guess what? He'll go find somebody else to mess with, amen and then you can help your neighbor overcome too. But you know, we have authority. We've got to get that.
LS: Yeah. Yeah. Well, in the next segment, what I want to do is I want to actually help you go to the next step and create a habitation for the presence of God in your home. I love what Jennifer was talking about because when we get this stuff out, that's all good. But I don't want you to leave any space like the enemy looks for empty space. And even if you do not have items and objects and that type of thing, he'll do whatever he can to find something to actually gain some space in your home, in your life. So, the good news is we can fill that space with the presence, the glory, and the power of God. And it creates these atmospheres where you can hear from heaven easily. You can prophesy, you can worship. So, join us in the final segment because we are going to show you how to truly create a resting place for Holy Spirit in your life and in your household.

LS: Welcome back to The Resting Place, Larry Sparks here with my guest, Jennifer LeClaire. We have talked about really exposing some of those cursed items in our home, how to shut the door to the devil, whether it's items, artifacts, even TV and media. But I want to go to the next level, because we do read about in the Bible where Jesus was using this example of somebody who is delivered from demons. But Jesus emphasized how important it is to get that space filled up because the devil does look for a house that is clean, swept, and ready to be filled. So, I would say the next thing is we need to show people how to fill their homes with the presence of God. What are some of the things that you would recommend getting now? Proactive, filling our homes with God's presence. What would you say are some great strategies for this?
JL: Yeah, there's some really easy things that we can do that, you know, make a big impact. So, I always look at the low hanging fruit first. So, most of us, I work from home, but most people don't work from home. So, before you go to work in the morning, put on a CD of somebody preaching like I love old Kathryn Kuhlman messages or old Kenneth Hagin. So, you can leave that playing all day long so you can let Kenneth Hagin just preach to the demons and they're not going to like that. So, if there's any residue there, they're going to leave. But what you're doing is you're attracting the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God loves the Word of God. And so, one of the things- or you can leave on worship music all day long, and it doesn't have to be loud. It can just be, you know what I tell people, put worship music on in one room, put the preaching on in another room play the Word of God in the third room, and when you come home, you're going to get zapped by the Holy Ghost because it's going to be so thick, you know, glory clouds. I mean, seriously, though, the, the- Spirit of God is attracted to the Word of God, the worship and praise.
LS: It's interesting. We work very closely with Lance and Annabelle Wallnau, and in their early days, I remember hearing a story where there was a house- It might have been Annabelle's. I forget- that was, that was haunted. It was a demonized house and what they would do back in that day, they had a tape recorder that they would put, I think it was Derek Prince tapes in, and they would put it in the house, and that's, I mean, it cleansed the atmosphere. So that's one hundred percent true. What are some of the other things even in our own life? I mean, those are great strategies for how we can actually fill our homes with the presence of God, but even just keeping our self. I feel like the Lord is saying, what are some strategies that we can do to shut the gates, like keep our eye gates and our ear gates pure? Because we are the house of God and there are so many messages, so, so much media competing to our, for our attention, social media, all that, like what would you say to-
JL: Yeah, it's, it's- a constant battle. So I remember, you know, there's so much drama on Facebook all that- Let me give a real relatable experience- drama, drama, drama, and somebody came to me and they said, you know, Jennifer, so-and-so is just talking about so-and-so over there and you've just got to go see this, what they're saying. It's this is big debate on their page, and I set out to go look at the page. I was curious. I was tempted. And the Holy Spirit said, if you go put your eyes on all that drama and all that strife, He said it's going to diminish your ability to see in the Spirit.
LS: I think you actually need to talk to somebody at home, because truly right now we are living in an age of so much drama, anxiety, aggravation, dissension that's coming seriously, not exclusively, but primarily through social media. I think people at home just need to be encouraged, like they have authority to, to click away, to shut it off. I mean, just minister on that.
JL: Yeah. So, you know, there's this concept I pray through on one of my morning prayer calls about de-dramatizing our life and so we can make it all about don't watch the horror movies. We are probably not doing that. We can make it all about don't go out for Halloween and dress as a vampire, don't let your kids- you're probably not doing those things, but this social media, the drama on Facebook, I mean, the strife, especially in this season that we're seeing, you've got to intentionally disconnect from the drama makers, not just the drama kings, but the drama queens, because you are allowing your ears to be polluted, your imagination to be stirred in a negative way, your emotions, your flesh rising up, you will feel anxiety, and if you step into the fray, you are being like the accuser of the brethren many times, and all of this begins to open, open up our hearts and our minds to things that are un-pure. You know, Paul the Apostle said, "If anything is good, if anything is honorable, lovely, of a good report, think on these things." And so, what I've done in this season is I just don't go. I mean, I have a friend who unfollowed, stayed friends, but unfollowed everybody. He's got to intentionally go look. So, social media, we're being inundated with negativity, the news media inundated with negativity, and that causes us to think wrong. We've really got to renew our minds. A lot of that's where it starts.
LS: Yes, even now I feel like the Holy Spirit is saying, you know, we're so used to scrolling through news feeds and scrolling through the news or social media, but the Lord is saying right now, I want you to scroll through My scrolls.
JL: Oooooh!
LS: I want you to actually scroll through what am I saying about the situations right now that are causing so much fear, worry, upheaval in the earth. He's saying, I want you to come up here where I am. God doesn't want us to be ignorant. That's what I appreciate about you. I mean, you are a journalist by nature. We don't stick our head in the sand and just pretend everything's okay, but God's wanting us to be tapped into something higher. He wants us to be plugged into what is He saying? What is He doing in the midst of everything? Otherwise, you're totally right. I've had those same moments where something and it is, it's tantalizing on Facebook. It's like, oh, I wonder. I mean, I'm being honest. It's like, I wonder what they're saying. I wonder what's going to happen, and it's almost like when you go there, you feel slimed.
JL: Yes, you do, because you have been in the spirit. You've, you've opened yourself up to something that, that God didn't lead you into that, you know, the Bible talks about those who meddle with strife, you know, they'll, you know, they take, like taking the ears of a dog. You're going to get bit.
LS: Yes.
JL: And so, strife kills the anointing. So, if you want a home where God dwells, get the strife out of your life.
LS: Wow.
JL: It's not just the evil objects, yeah, you got to do that, but you can keep the- you have, get all, cleanse your home from all the evil and you and your spouse, your kids, you're fighting and yelling, knockdown, drag outs, or subtle passive aggressive strife. You're going to invite them right back in. Maybe in a different way. So, we want, I love what Bill Johnson says, and you, you've- ministered this, you know, we want to walk around as if the Holy Spirit's like a dove, because He's the, on our shoulder. How would we walk? We wouldn't yell. We wouldn't be coarse jesting. We would be gentle and walk in love. We want our homes to be filled with love because if they're filled with love, they're filled with God.
LS: And I love that because Bill says this, you know, often when he asks people, okay, how would you walk around with a dove on your shoulder, everybody's like, well, we'd, would be very careful, and he's like, that's not quite the right answer, because then what happens is you become hyper aware of everything and then you become borderline paranoid, but I love what you're talking about. What happens is you take every step with the dove in mind, and you start asking yourself, and I want to encourage you right now more than just, oh am I watching the wrong thing? Or do I have a curse object in my house? I want to ask you to maybe become aware of it this way. Say, Holy Spirit, does this please You? Holy Spirit, are You comfortable? I, because what happens is then we become more aware of the Holy Spirit, and He is a person, by the way. Holy Spirit is a person, and He can be grieved. He can be quenched. He has feelings. They are, they are pure, and it's one of those things where, Jennifer, I'm just going to pray into this because I do believe the Lord wants habitations of His presence in our home. So, Lord, we thank You even now that we, we declare a heightened awareness, not of darkness and demons, but of the Holy Ghost. I declare a heightened awareness of the presence of the Holy Spirit because the Lord's saying right now, just like the Holy Spirit lives inside of you, and we all, if we're born again, and we know Jesus, Holy Spirit lives inside of you, that's great, but the Lord says, oh, no, I want more. I want the Spirit that lives inside of you to actually rest upon you. Furthermore, I want Him to rest upon your home. I want Him to rest upon a place. I want Him to rest in an atmosphere. So, we ask Holy Spirit that we'd become more aware of Your presence, what makes You happy, what grieves You, what makes You comfortable, because we want to host You in our homes,

JL: Amen, amen. That's so good.
