Okay, so let's get started. What is a personality test? Well, a personality test is designed to assess information about your values, preferences, interests, emotional maturity, and how you are likely to interact with other people in the working environment. Now, there are no right or wrong answers with personality tests. Now, while it is important to answer the personality test questions honestly, it is good practice to learn how you are likely to be assessed, and that's what I will teach you during this presentation. But it is important for me to tell you that you should always answer the questions honestly.

Okay, let's have a look at a sample personality test question. Question number one says, "I regularly make new friends." And then we are given a number of answer options: strongly agree, agree, somewhat agree, neither agree or disagree, somewhat disagree, disagree, or strongly disagree. And we have to choose the one answer option that is most applicable to us. Now, this is the thing to do when answering any personality test question. You should ask yourself, "Why is the employer asking me this personality test question?" Well, if we look at this one, "I regularly make new friends." I would be asking these questions: Do they want to hire someone who is personable, friendly, and gets on well with other people? Well, I would say yes, they do. Most employers want to hire people who are personable, friendly, and get on well with other people in a team. And I would also ask the question, "Do they want an employee who will quickly fit into their team?" Well, yes, they do. And that would influence me on how I would answer each question. And also, I would ask this question: "Does the job I am applying for require me to work with other people as a team player?" Most jobs do, yes. So I would answer this question based on those questions that I've just asked as agree or strongly agree. Now, I would choose agree because that is most applicable to me. I do, I agree, I regularly make new friends. But I would be influenced about the fact that the employer probably wants to hire someone who is a collaborator and a team player. So the answer I would personally choose to that personality test question, "I regularly make new friends," is agree.

Let's have a look at another one. Don't forget, I'm going to get you to try some live on the screen very soon. Personality test question number two is, "We live in an unfair world." This is a difficult question. Now, you might find some personality test questions just give you two options, either agree or disagree. Now, this is a difficult question. Why would they ask you this personality test question, "We live in an unfair world?" Well, let's use this process that we have just applied to the first question. "Why is the employer asking me this personality test question?" Well, I would be asking these questions: Do they want to hire someone who has a positive outlook on life? Yes, they probably do. Do they want to hire someone who doesn't spend their time complaining? Yes, they probably do. And also, do they want to hire someone who accepts feedback and criticism instead of feeling sorry for themselves? Yes, they probably do. So the answers to those three questions I've just asked myself would influence how I would respond to this particular personality test question, "We live in an unfair world." So I would hit, personally, I would say disagree to that question. You might decide to answer it differently. You might say, "Yes, we do live in an unfair world. Things are unfair." Fair, but I personally would answer it as disagree during the test.

Okay, so now it's your turn to try some personality test questions. Please put your answers to question three, four, five, six, and seven in the comment section below the video. Thank you very much. We will then work through the answers together and use that approach that we have just worked through to come up with what I think will be the correct answer.

Personality test question number three: "I get upset when I see other people cry." There's your answer options. You should answer these: I strongly agree, agree, somewhat agree, neither agree or disagree, somewhat disagree, disagree, or strongly disagree. I will give you five seconds to answer each question. So tell me your answer to question three in the comments section below the video. How would you answer that personality test question?

Okay, personality test question number four: "I usually remain calm in stressful situations." There's your answer options. And here is the timer. Don't forget to use that process. Ask yourself, "Why is the employer asking me this question?" Here's your five-second timer.

Moving on to the next personality test question. "I prefer to finish a project before moving on to the next one." There's your answer options. Here's the timer. Don't forget to think about the question, "Why is the employer asking you this question?" Here's your timer.

And just a quick tip: it's not good practice to choose strongly agree or strongly disagree on all of them. Don't, you know, you don't have to just answer the questions honestly.

Personality test question number six: "I organize my work by creating lists." There are your answer options. And here is your time. Think again, "Why would they ask you this question? What do they want to hear?" Here's your timer.

And personality test question number seven: "When I encounter conflict with a co-worker, I ask my manager to help resolve it." How would you answer that question? This is a difficult one. I know exactly how I would answer it. Here is your five-second timer. Don't forget, "Why do they want to ask you this question? What type of person do they want to employ?"

Okay, well done. Now let's start working through my suggested answers to these questions, and I will then give you that mock test to try. So let's use the same approach as we have done with the first few questions.

"I get upset when I see other people cry." Why are they asking me this question? Well, I would be asking these questions: Do they want to hire someone who is resilient? Yes, they probably do. Someone who is resilient and strong can handle their emotions. Do they want to hire someone who can control their emotions when other people are distressed? Yes, they probably do. So I would choose for personality test question number three, "I get upset when I see other people cry," as disagree. And that is actually my personality type. I don't tend to get upset when I see other people cry. Yes, I can feel empathy towards them, but I used to work in the fire service, so I couldn't get upset when other people were distressed. I had to deal with the situation. So I would choose disagree. I wouldn't choose strongly disagree for that one because I don't want to come across as too much of a, of a hard or callous person. So I'm putting disagree. I don't get upset when I see other people cry.

Let's have a look at personality test question number four that I got you to answer. "I usually remain calm in stressful situations." Why is the employer asking me this personality test question? Well, here's the questions I would ask in my head: Does the employer need someone in the position who is level-headed? Most probably do. Do they want to hire someone who can take control of difficult and pressurized situations? Yes, of course they do. So I would answer this question, "I usually remain calm in stressful situations," I strongly agree. I do. That is my own personality type. And you need to be prepared that if they are asking you this type of question, then they would want you to remain calm because you probably will have to deal with difficult and stressful situations. You can't deal with a difficult and challenging situation if you are panicking. You just can't think logically. So you have to remain calm.

Personality test question number five was, "I prefer to finish a project before moving on to the next one." This is one of the hardest ones so far. Why are they asking you this question? Well, does the employer need someone who can multitask? Yes, they probably do. And if you are then finishing a project before you move on to the next one, then perhaps you might not be good at multitasking. Do they want to hire someone who completes projects to a high standard? Yes, they do. So it's a difficult question to answer. So how would I answer it? "I prefer to finish a project before moving on to the next one." Somewhat agree. That's how I would answer that question because, yes, I do personally prefer to finish a project before moving on to the next one, but I am prepared to multitask and actually work on two, several, or more projects concurrently. So that's how I would answer that question: somewhat agree.

Personality test question number six was, "I organize my work by creating lists." Why is the employer asking you this question? What's the relevance of it? Well, I would be asking, "Does the employer need someone who is highly organized in their work?" Yes, they probably do. "Does the employer want to hire someone who rarely makes mistakes or misses deadlines?" Yes. So I would answer personality test question six, "I organize my work by creating lists," as strongly agree. I do. I am always creating lists and I tick them off as I go. I am highly organized in my work. So I would tick strongly agree on that one.

Personality test question number seven: "When I encounter conflict with a co-worker, I ask my manager to help resolve it." This is a difficult one, but in my opinion, there's only one way to answer it. But again, let's follow our process. "Why is the employer asking me this personality test question?" Well, I would be asking these questions to myself: "Does the employer want to employ someone who can resolve challenging situations themselves?" Yes, of course they do. "Does the employer need someone in the position who puts the needs of their team first?" Yes. And "Does the employer want someone who can make, who can be amicable and also reach compromises with their co-workers?" Yes. So I would answer this personality test question, "When I encounter conflict with a co-worker, I ask my manager to help resolve it," I strongly disagree. Because I would always try to resolve conflict with my co-worker myself first of all. Okay, now you could put disagree or somewhat disagree because there might be times when you decide, well, I've tried to resolve it, but I can't. I'm going to go to my manager. But I am strong in my opinion that I can resolve conflict with co-workers because I put the needs of my team first.

Okay, now that you've had time to practice some of these and understand, you know, you understand the thought process of how I recommend you tackle these, put yourself in the shoes of the employer. What do they want? But I have to stress again, you should be answering these questions honestly because you don't want to end up in a job that you are not going to enjoy or capable of doing. But let me give you a mock test now. Please put your answers to personality test questions 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 in the comments section below the video. Thank you very much, and I will mark these for you. Don't forget, very soon I'm going to tell you how you can access my free online psychometric test questions. Here we go.

Question number eight: "When I make a mistake, I tend to doubt my abilities and knowledge." Agree or disagree? Put your answer in the comments section below the video. Here's your five-second timer. So, "When I make a mistake, I tend to doubt my abilities and knowledge."

Personality test question number nine: "I am not too interested in analyzing information and data before making decisions." Do you agree or disagree? This is a difficult one. Here's your five-second timer.

Personality test question number 10: "I tend to follow my heart more than my head." Agree or disagree? Put your answer in the comments section below the video, please. Here's your five-second timer.
