Okay. What's going on everybody? It's been a while since I've done one of these. So, we are gonna do uh, we're looking forward to this actually. Um, string with me, but uh, this is, we're just doing a top string. We're going to do the new Jedi hidden top string that I've came up with um a couple of weeks ago.
First and foremost, uh, the reason why I did this is Oh, nope. Well, this is a stick that I did quite a while ago. As you can see, this is before I started doing even the Obi-Wan top string. Anyway, with the Obi-Wan top string, even though like the primary reason that we want to do this, to make sure that we uh protect the strings back here, which you can see this is starting to fray up here on this back edge. Um, that's the reason why I started doing the Obi-Wan top string. But I started seeing on some, not all, but some, um, especially like higher level boys and, uh, high school and college players, some of the mesh up here on the Obi-Wan top string, um, came apart.
So, in an effort to try to continue to make the longest lasting, highest performing pockets, uh, the the the top string that I have found and the reason why I do it all the time on regular uh field sticks that lasts the longest and will perform the best the longest is the the Jedi top string that I came up with god knows how many years ago now. Um, for a while I was thinking about how can I, how can I create that or how can I make that work on a hidden top string in an Eclipse 3 or any head for that matter, but specifically for the the Eclipse 3 and uh, and I figured it out. So, this this video uh is the first time I'm recording this recording this um, I'm sure I'm going to screw up. So, in the comments below, if you have questions, please um, please let me know. And it's not so much that I'm going to screw up in the string of it. I'm I'm confident in that. I'm just I'm still trying to, you know, every time when I'm making these videos, I want to make sure that I'm I'm doing the best that I can. And I know I'm an overt talker and so I do that. Uh, but I'm going to try to explain and show u with different angles and such like you know, of how to do it. So that's what I mean when I say if you don't understand or if I do something that I say something that doesn't make sense or I'm you know, I'm trying to show something and it doesn't make sense when I'm doing it, comments below or uh, shoot me a DM. Obviously, this is going to go out on YouTube. It's going to go out on on Instagram. Anything that I can put it out on. Uh, okay. So here we go. Let's switch videos.
So, uh, right now I'm using a piece of Grizzly one. Um, Grizzly one is still this stuff. Still, it's still awesome. You know, in my mind, it's the standard of what's available for goalie mesh. Uh, no, I can't I can't just totally say that. Impact is awesome. Grizzly 2, I I don't recommend for everybody. I only recommend that for people that are um experienced stringers because it's just so much more difficult to work with. But this stuff is uh, is really excellent. So, a as per the usual for let's say I was doing a Jedi top string on any other goalie head. Um, I'm it's a 12 diamond piece of mesh. So I find the end that has let's see, look at this way so you can see it. I'm finding the end of the mesh on the 12 diamond row. You see right here, I'm folding over two rows. Uh, the 12 and the 11 diamond row. So the the what I'm going to be working with first is the 11 diamond row. So I know this looks a little backwards the way you're seeing it. So the back of the mesh, the smooth part of the mesh over here. That's the back part over here. The rough spot that's going to be on the ball is underneath. I'm folding it over. So you see the two rows that are folded over like this. Um, the folded over is closest to the camera itself. So, I've already pulled myself a piece of string. As you can see in the little video in the corner, this is a full like I'm 6'2. This is a full wingspan's length of string. Um, so this uh Jesus, my head is continuing to be in the way of this. I'm going to try and make sure that I don't do that. Um, I know this looks a little counterintuitive so you can I'm going to try to hold it here so you can kind of see it. I'm holding the mesh as if I would I'm going to start going through because the the first thing we do with the Jedi top string is we're going through, we're going to go through the mesh first before ever going through the plastic. We're going from the middle of the mesh outwards in both directions. Um, so I'm starting looking at it like I would as if this was a field stick and this is a field uh, a regular regular 10 diamond piece of mesh. So I'm going to find the middle in the 11 diamond row. So one, two, three, four, five, six. The six diamond right there. And because there's one, two, three, four, five on the other side. So as with the regular mesh, this is it's an 11 diamond top string, but it's kind of a shifted 11 diamond top string. So I'm going to shift up this way a little bit. So looking at it the other way or if you see it uh, like here I'm I'm shifting shifting up this way. So you can start to see hopefully there's all of those areas where I will be going in and out in and out in and out. So I know I'm holding it a little bit opposite of what it kind of looks like on the on the on the head right now. That's because when I start stringing it, the mesh is going to be like swung like that up underneath. Um, I'm going to rather than trying to change angles uh, a lot, one of the things that I want to do is Okay, let's see if I can keep that going right there. I may switch angles a little bit because this I mean a lot of work is done in the underside of this uh, of the the front part of the scoop and I don't want to move the head because I've got all the the camera set up. So hopefully I'll be able to click over and you can see some of it. Click over to that angle. You'll be able to see some of what's going on. So I've got one, two, three, four, five. So I've got my sixth diamond. Every time I go through the mesh in this top string, I'm going through I'm going through basically I'm going through the mesh four times. So, I know this looks upside down at the moment, but you'll see in a second. I'm going to go. So, this is the front part of the mesh you're looking at right now. This is the front. It's going to be flipped like that. I'm just doing this so that you can see it this way. So that you can see it. Hopefully you can see it right there. That's how I'm going to start. Then I want to I don't have to worry about too much about centering it, but I want to keep it right about center. So I hold the mesh up. You you'll see here. So right there, that's the center hole. I'm going to go front to back through the holes adjacent to the center. Okay. So, I'm pulling through. I don't have to pull that far through here. So, I went front to back. Then, both of these strings are going to go back to front through the very center hole in the scoop. Now, I want to keep these two tips. I want to keep them even. And now, as you can see, the mesh is going to be pulled up like that. The mesh is now sitting the way that I want it to. I don't need to worry yet about trying to make sure that this stays very tight. I will make I will Oh, Jesus. I will be making sure that everything stays nice and tight, but I'm going to start off keeping it a little loose so that you can have an idea of what to do. So, I'm loosening it up a little bit. You see right here, every time I go through, I start going through the mesh because you're looking at the back here. I'm going front to back. So, you can see I'm kind of I've loosened this string. It's going to it's going to tighten up so you can see what I'm doing. So, right there, that's the middle right in there. That's the middle of the mesh. So, if I'm on this side over here, I'm going to go I'm going to go through the mesh four times, just like I did here, only I'm going to go over one of the areas that I've already gone, if that makes sense. So, I'm going to go, if I'm looking at the mesh the or looking at the mesh the way that you are in the camera, I'm going to go above the string. It's still front to back there, back to front. So, as you can see, I'm doubled up right there. Now, I'm going to do that one more time over here. Go front. So, continuing to go in this direction over here. I'm going to go front to back through the mesh. [Music] And so even though I've gone through or go front to back through the plastic, even though I've gone through it there, I'm going to start to try to tighten up on this side. I'm I'm I'm tighten. I'm trying to keep those middle two areas nice and tight. So now I come back one right here. I go back to front through the plastic. Before I tighten everything up, I'm going to go front to back through the mesh. Back to front again. Now I've done that. Now I'm going to start to pull that a little closer. Once I get it to there, see how you can see in there? That's loose. This is where I'm holding on to this side. This p piece of string. I'm just holding on over here to make sure that stays stuck. And now I'm going to go back and forth like this to make sure this is no longer loose. So I can pull this way, pull that way, pull this way, pull that way. That will effectively stay where it is. Back to front one more time. Like I said, every time I go through the mesh, like in between times when I'm coming through the plastic, I go through the mesh four times. So you see it there. I got one more. The This is the last top string hole on this side. Front to back through the plastic. Back to front through the plastic coming back here. Staying above the string that was already there. Front to back through the mesh. Back to front through the mesh. Now I hold that nice and tight. As you can see, bring this way. I want to make sure I'm keeping it as tight as I can. Thankfully, the way this is set up, it doesn't end up being it's tough for it to get like loose. Uh, so on a it's technically an 11 diamond top string on the row, but I'm it's I I tie it off as a nine diamond top string in the Eclipse one. The eclipse where I've measure not so much the one in the eclipse two and then now in the eclipse 3 when I string a grizzly one because it doesn't stretch out as much as grizzly two or impact um, I am going through one two or I'm tying everything off to the one to third this is right here the third sidewall hole that's where I tie the top string off to so I am going to Go outside in. Actually, no. Wait. Like I said, I still got to go through that one more time. You see that there? I'm going to go inside out through sidewall hole number two. Back to front through that outside top string hole. You see right there? And I'm going to pull that tight. But I am and I'm going to let that hang. I'm not going to tie that off yet. I want to get the entire other side done before I come back and tie that side off. So, as you saw, I'm going to loosen this just a little bit so you can see what I was doing here, back, uh, front to back, back to front. I don't have to do both every single time, but I just I want to do that right there. So, I'm back over here. I want to make sure I'm keeping that nice and tight. Go back to where I was. So, even though that's loose, I can still want to make that as tight as I possibly can. Front to back through the plastic, back to front through the plastic before I tighten it. I'm going to go through the mesh again. And in this case, like I said, I'm staying above the string that was already there, just so there's continuity, front to back, and then back to front. Front to back through the plastic there. Back to back to front. Coming back in. I just loosened it. I didn't I started to tighten it and I forgot I had to go back through the mesh again. Front to back, back to front through the mesh, inside out through sidewall hole number two. Back to front through the outside on this side over here, outside top string hole. Okay. So, I'm not going to when I get to the ends here, as you can see, because I've still got my folded over in the 11 diamond row, I'm not going to go through these two. Not going to do that. I am going to go over this part one more time. Front to back through the mesh. Back to front through the mesh. I've got to make sure I try to get that as tight as I can. And now I'm going inside out through sidewall hole number three. As you can see, I've got the mesh right here. So, this is my this is the 11 diamond row. So I don't go into the I go back to front through one hole in from the outside. So if you're coming starting on this side, that's the first second hole inside out through sidewall hole number three. I'm going to make sure that lines up correctly. I get that as tight as I can. I go back to front through the mesh one more time. Inside out through sidewall hole number three one more time. Trying to pull that as tight as I can. So that is my double loop finish on that side. Making sure that this knot I'm pulling away that knot stays as tight to the plastic as possible. So, repeating what I did over here, I go front to back through the mesh, back to front through the mesh one more time, pulling toward the center to try to get that tight, as tight as I can. And I go inside out through sidewall hole number three. So, if that's hole number one, I'm going back to front through hole number two. Inside out through sidewall hole number three, making sure you don't want to let it sit like that. You want to make sure that the mesh lines up correctly. So, you're effectively squishing that hole right there. Pull that as tight as you can. Back through front through that same hole one more time. Inside out through sidewall hole number three one last time. Get that there. Tie that as tight as I can. And there we have it. My new favorite kind of uh scissors, Jameson tools. Absolutely fantastic. Cuts through any piece of string like a hot knife through butter. Okay, I will flip this over in a second so you can see. Right now, it's a little bit tougher to be able to tell, but once I pull down, hopefully you can see it. It's aesthetically pleasing. And you won't ruin your top strings. Um, even though I've only done a dozen or so of these so far since I kind of made it up a few weeks ago, um, I am extremely confident that this will perform like from a longevity standpoint, it will be better than the Obi-Wand. I'll still do that sometimes for some people, but like this is this is my new go-to for the Eclipse 3. Full stop. Um, if you're not doing this or an Obi-Wand or some other version of a hidden top string in the Eclipse 3, I think you're doing something wrong and you're doing a disservice to yourself or whoever you're streaming for because it just won't last as long. It it's it it's mind-blowing how fast people are going through top strings. Um, and it's the only gripe that I have with this head is that the way that it design it was designed, it just it it eats through uh, it eats through um, string like crazy.
