When a snake bites you, its fang acts like a biological hypodermic needle. Hollow and sharp, it connects to a venom gland behind the eye. Upon striking, a powerful muscle surrounding the gland compresses, forcing venom through the fang and out of a tiny hole at the tip.

The venom then enters your bloodstream almost instantly, disrupting physiological processes. This rapid delivery system is highly efficient, allowing the snake to immobilize or kill prey quickly. The fang's design is a precise lethal adaptation, optimizing the snake's ability to capture and subdue its target.

To counter this, antivenenom introduces antibodies into the body that target and neutralize the venom's toxins. These antibodies bind to the venom molecules, preventing them from interacting with cells and halting their toxic effects, giving the body a chance to recover and heal.
