Oh, storytelling is so important in luxury because humans are naturally drawn to stories. Up until a couple hundred years ago, for most people who could read or write, storytelling was how we shared information.
Let's take, I don't know, Aqua di Parma for example. Talking about the brand's connection to the Italian lifestyle of "la dolce vita" can really make it more desirable. Describing how fragrances capture the essence of relaxed Italian elegance, orange groves covered landscapes, and I suppose the joy of the Mediterranean, it really creates a pretty compelling story.
So, if you're going to use it effectively as a salesperson, you need to know the brand's history and its unique selling points as well. You need to be able to personalize the story to align with the client's interests. And you need to be able to use vivid descriptions and anecdotes because it taps into our innate love of stories, and it enhances the perceived value of the product, and it strengthens the emotional bond between the client and the brand as well.
