We'll continue worshiping the Lord in our giving tonight. But, uh, let's remember that we have church service or actually it's Monday night prayer is just as important as a church service. Prayer meeting Monday night 6:30 here in the sanctuary. We'll have a prayer meeting Monday night. Tuesday, Catalyst meets at 6:30 in the Elisha building. Always remember that. Thankful for all of our our people that help over there and volunteer, cook food every week. All that you do there. Thank you so much. Also, on Tuesdays, our first our first basketball game of the season. It's a home game. It will start at 4:30. Uh, so, I know that may be a little sooner than some of you may get off work, but that's okay. Just get off work, come right on to the gym. We'll have a good time of fellowship and uh, concession will be open so you can get all kind of good food there. And we're going to be playing all four teams that night. So we'll be a night full of just exciting [music] games. So come join us on Tuesday. Wednesday is our midweek service at 7:00 p.m. right here in the sanctuary. Saturday, USM's having a mafia night. It's a game night at 5:00 p.m. at the Elisha building. So all of our students know about that. Then Sunday, of course, church service 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. All of our five-fold ministers, remember that's the first Sunday of the month. So, we'll be meeting at 8:15 that morning in the prayer room. [music] So, remember that. Also, Christa and Austin are having a wedding shower that's going on. And so, they have a table set up in the north entryway if you like to be a blessing to them. And we're excited about what God is doing for them. And I've get we've got a lot a lot of people getting married this year and we're excited for all of them. Amen. And uh, man, nobody said amen. I'm like, they don't like being married. Sister Margie Howard's funeral is um, the visitation is from 1 to 2 tomorrow at 2 o'clock. Uh, and the [music] the funeral's at 2 tomorrow. This is brother Ken Howard's mother and uh, she was so sweet. They hadn't been able to be here for a while and a lot of our new people might not know them but our [music] founding our founding members do. And uh, she was such a sweet, sweet, sweet lady. And I can tell you right now, Ken and Becky Howard, you don't find any better people than Kenny Becky Howard. And uh [applause] we love them dearly and uh, praying for their family. But I wanted our church family to know and [music] uh, we certainly are praying for them. But why don't you share with some love with them tonight because we do uh care about them tremendously. [music] And uh, we want the Lord to be with them. Amen. Amen. It's also good to see Connor, brother and sister Connor with us. Now, we know her as Sister Williams, but he come and swept her feet away, moved her to Texas. We forgive him, but we're so glad they're here with us today. Would you rather rather show them Spongebob and some Teletubby or we would you like to see how we had church before we had all that stuff? Well, about six of you and I can tell you you want to know why these kids are 16, 15, 17 run the aisles cuz they ran the aisles at seven and eight years old. I don't like them running. You go teach them how to run bases. Well, my God, if you going to teach them how to steal second, teach them how to run the aisles. [music] >> Ain't nothing wrong. You do you realize running and leaping? That's in the Bible. Had one lady told me one time, said, "Pastor, that's not in that Bible." I'm telling you, that's in the Bible. That's in the Bible. Now I I can tell you y'all going to bring me back to my worldly days and I'm going to start saying I like it and I want some more of it. I like it. [music] Cuz when that happens, people get the Holy Ghost. I like it when people take off the garment or or take off the spirit of heaviness and put on the garment of praise. [music] I just like it. Say, "Something's about to happen in this place that's about to [music] change everything." Oh, come on. You're not helping me. I said, I want you to tell somebody something is going to happen in me tonight that's about to change [music] everything around me. This situation is about to be a platform of praise, not trouble. They've got such an incredible family. Uh, Sister Hammond is anointed. She's a singer. Uh, uh, anointed to decorate. We need to bring her to help us. Shelley loves her. Now, there's no such thing as an anointed junk shopper. Shel, what what do y'all call that? It ain't junk. What is it? If you ever hear the word antique, yeah, you go ahead and hit me right. I was preaching. If you ever hear the word antique, oh God, that's pitiful. If you ever hear that, they're spending money on somebody else's junk. But there there you there it is. But it that that's uh that's not anointed of God. But man, sister [music] Hammond is incredible. And uh Brother Hammond is one of my favorite preachers. He just knows how to put them things together. I'm like this and then I try to pull the string. He's just and it builds up and I'm just talking about unbelievable. [music] And uh I am so thankful that they came here. He he spent some [music] time with our young men in our school uh Friday and Saturday. And I'm so thankful for his leadership, what they're doing in Marville. So thankful for what God's doing in the kingdom with them. And I want him. How many of you going to open your heart tonight? Listen to me. [applause] God wants to do something big tonight. My expectation meter, you couldn't even you couldn't even put it on a you couldn't even predict it. It's so high right now. I'm telling you, I just feel like [music] God's up to something tonight. If you're going to let the man of God speak the word of God and elevate your faith tonight, I want you to lift up your hands as high as you can. and lift up your voice and I want you to tell the Lord, "Have your way in this place." [music] Come on. That's it. Go ahead. Just let the Lord touch you right now. [music] It's going to be hard for me to get into what I need to get into here. I have a pet peeve and that is I grew up a musician, grew up and I I I everybody in my family is a preacher and I always said I I don't I don't think that's for me and uh, so I always grew up using I always listen to the men of God walk up and say, "This is the most important time of the service. The word of God is about to go forth. All of that was for God, but now this is going to be for you. The man of God's about to preach to you." Well, I don't necessarily agree with that. I think all of it's for him and all of it's for us. It's heaven on earth. [music] Some of you are waiting on God to do something and you skipped song service. You [music] could have got everything you needed in the past 20 minutes while the praise team was singing about a God who could bring you out, about a God who can deliver you. If you're skipping some, waiting on God. I'll tell you this right now. We got so many good singers and musicians and apostolic songwriters nowadays. [music] I hear more preaching in the songs than I do in some sermons. I hear more word in some songs than I do in some sermons. >> Some of us, if we would have got our pride out of the way during song service, we'd get a whole lot more out of pastor's preaching. [applause] I I I'll move I'll move on in. I'll move on in. God help me tonight. Give these music musicians and singers and the choir and everybody a big hand. Well, that'll get you in trouble. >> What What is your price? >> What is your price? >> Judas said it was just a few pieces of silver. >> It's worth today $21.60. It don't make much sense when time tells the story. Huh? Samson said, "I'll trade him for a relationship, and he don't mean much to me. My vow, my covenant don't mean much to me. I'll just trade him for a, Esau, I'll just trade him for the bowl of beans." >> Huh? What's he worth to you tonight? >> Let me Let me tell you something. If you could get this one statement, I wouldn't need to say anything else tonight. If your price is not your life, you're for sale. [music] >> [applause] >> If your price is not your life, somebody will show up with something and you'll leave. Somebody will show up with a job and you'll start miss. Somebody will show up with a relationship and you'll turn your back on some. I've seen it. The scripture tells us, "But if you'll give him everything, if I'll present my body a living sacrifice, holy, except Abraham said, well, you just gave me this son, but I'll give him back to you." Why? Because he's worth everything to me. He's worth everything I could give him tonight. [music] He's not I've not come to just play a little patty-cake game and just lift my hands when everybody else does or clap my hands with. I've come to see God move. I've come to worship the Lord with everything I got. Why? Because he's [music] worthy of everything I could give him tonight. Oh, hallelujah. [music] Somebody shout hallelujah. I'm just going to go ahead and lean on you a little bit. If [music] you hadn't come to worship, you going to be uncomfortable for about 354 minutes. Is that all right? >> Some of you are thinking, "Man, I should have stayed home, watched the NFL game or something." Huh? Have you come to worship? >> Have you come to worship? [music] This is my text tonight. This is my text tonight. And as they were eating, Jesus took bread and blessed it and break it and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat. This is my body." And he took the cup and gave thanks and gave it to them, saying, "Drink ye of all of it. For this is the blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink [music] henceforth of this fruit of the vine until the day when I drink with you in my Father's kingdom." He does all that. And it says, "And when they sung a hymn, they went out into the Mount of Olives." I want to preach to you tonight for just a few moments on this. When they sang a song, when they sang a song, musicians and singers, I hope that I can help you out a little bit. I'm honored to be here. Your favorite preacher ought to be your pastor. Not only is he one of the best preachers that I know, but your pastor ought to be your favorite preacher because he's preaching to you right where you're at. He's going to give an account for your soul. We love them and thankful for them. I want to preach to you for just a few moments. I want you to help me because I believe God's going to change. He's going to change some things in this room tonight. When he sang, when they sang a song, you can be seated if you want to. You don't have to. Christianity is known as a singing religion. >> It's a It's a religion with a song. It's a It's a religion with a a a song that they It's It's not just something that we we do. It's something that we're known as. Martin Luther said, "Next, after theology, I give to music the highest place and the greatest honor." The musicians that stand on this stage, the musicians who are called, who are gifted, let it never be said, let it never be taken for granted that you are ushering us into the presence of God. That things can happen when we begin to sing the songs of Zion. When we begin to praise the name that's above every name, God can move in a supernatural way. [applause] We know this through school. We we even do it. That probably did it in Sunday school this morning. If you want a kid, if you want someone to really learn something, you put it to a lullaby, to a you put some notes in it, you put a melody to it, you put a rhythm, you put a cadence to it, and all of a sudden something that they could not understand. All of a sudden, they can remember, they can flow. You know, the the young man said, "I didn't know the Lord that God's name was Andy." >> Huh? Because they always sung that song, Andy walked with me. Andy talked with me. And why? He he was a little confused, but at least the song stuck with him, right? >> Young man one time said he was singing the books of of the Bible. He come home singing to his parents. Uh, Genesis, Exodus, ridiculous Numbers. At least he was getting the cadence, right? You know, but these Sunday school songs, we see it. The world knows it. The problems in our world today, the statistical issues that we have, if you search the issues in our culture, go look at the top 10 playlist, >> the top 10 songs on Spotify and iTunes. Read the lyrics and you'll see the issues. [applause] Because you're not just bumping to it, young people. you're bowing to it. [cheering] [applause] >> Because music is a powerful thing. [cheering] >> We know that at this point in our opening text, Jesus is there. Take this, break this, eat this. It is Passover. And it says, "And they sang a hymn." We just so happen to know due to the Old Testament, we know what Jesus and the disciples sang. It's a song called the Hallel. The name of this section of songs we find Psalms 113 through 118. It's sung at certain festivals. It's so called because the beginning of of this song is the Hallelujah in Psalms 113 and 1. This Hebrew phrase, it's "Praise Jehovah" or as we would know in the English, "Praise ye the Lord." >> It's interesting here. Traditionally, the Hallel was written by Ezra the scribe to commemorate the building of the second temple after the captivity of its people. Psalms 118 was the last and thus the most important song that would be sung of these few chapters of the book of Psalms that are entitled the Hallel. It was sung as a call and a response. It was a traditional song and the Jews traditionally sang this Hallel at three special occasions. They sung it in their homes twice on Passover. They sung chapters 113 and 114 before they took it. And they sung 115 to 118 after they took it. >> And then in the temple at Passover, they would begin to sing. And that was at 3 p.m. when sacrifices were slain. While they were slaying sacrifice, >> they were killing the lamb. They were singing the song. While they were cutting the throats, while they were letting the blood to drain out, they were giving sacrifice for sin, they were singing Psalms 113. >> Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. Blessed be the name of the Lord. >> And then they sung it one other time and that was in the streets during the festival of Pentecost. And that was around 900 a.m. in the morning when they would they they would they would participate in this party of Pentecost. Well, this is powerful already because we know you can't have a Pentecost without having a Passover. >> Some of you are struggling tonight participating in song service because you come to church to worship. You don't worship any other time during the week. >> I don't come to church to worship. I come to church worshiping. You got to have the song in the house before you can have the song in the temple. You got to have the song at Passover before you can have the song of Pentecost. You got to have the song in your house. You got to hear God's name blessed in your house. You got to hear God magnified in your house. You got to hear prayers going up in your living room before they happen in the prayer room. [applause and cheering] But in the year that Jesus died, the Jews missed the Hallel's message entirely. The Jew Jewish disciples missed it at the Passover supper in our opening text. The Jewish priests missed it during the Passover sacrifices in the temple. And the Jewish leaders missed it during the Pentecostal celebration, the feast day. The Jews would see at these three special occasions again in their homes. Psalms 113 and 114 before Passover was taken and 115 through 118 after Passover is taken. I don't have time, my voice and me reading that. I'd put every one of you to sleep. I'm not going to read the whole thing to you tonight, but if you can just imagine Psalms 118 is being sung from Jesus' perspective as he begins to sing about a God. He begins to sing about the things that he's going to do. He's going to begin to sing about the power of the the resurrection and and and they they they do all the things. They they they they realize that they're eating the bread and they're taking the wine and there's no lamb there, but the lamb's sitting at the table, >> but they missed the whole thing. And as if they as if you you couldn't pick up what he was already putting down. He's told them so many things. Destroy this temple and in three days he'll raise it up. He's eaten with them the last supper. He's trying to show them that I am the bread. I'm not going to eat this with you again until we eat it in my Father's kingdom. He's telling them all these things. And then if they don't get anything else, he begins to sing a song to remind them that this is not just a meal, but this is Passover. But they didn't realize what was going on. They completely missed the song service. I don't know about you, but seems like all old ministers can sing one song. They all got that one song. You know, Pastor Carpenter, Bishop Carpenter at our home church, it's "I Need Thee." Things are tight. Things aren't going the way he wants them to. He gets up to preach and it just don't. He's going to start singing "I Need Thee." And they going to have to figure out whatever key he's in. You know, my grandpa's song was "Reach Out and Touch the Lord as He Goes By." They they've got these old songs that maybe they came to the Lord when they were praying in an altar. That was a song being sung. That song resonates with them. You begin to sing "Amazing Grace." And if "Amazing Grace" don't get you stirred up, I don't know what I I don't I don't know what would. And so there's these old songs and and I I can't help but think that this this is kind of the way the Hallel was. It just won't we have a time when we get over yonder? There's just something about the name of Jesus that the blood still reaches to the lowest valley that I don't know what you came to do, but I came to praise the Lord. There's just something about a song lyric that reaches back and it's a time where I saw a demonstration of the Holy Ghost. I saw God do something in my life and I just begin to worship him. [applause] >> I can't help but just think that that's the way it was. And too many times, too many times, I think back of the old the old days of just being a part of the church where I think more and more and more we ought to let God interrupt our song service. >> We ought to let the presence of God move in to our to move right into to the time and just let God kind of do what he wants to do. But we get so structured and we get so ritualistic, so to say. And there's nothing wrong with rituals. I'm thankful for doing the same thing. Come to the same place you need to come and do and have some order to your life. But there's times where Jesus will step in. >> And I know we've got an order of service. We've got plan and center. We've got all these things laid out. We're doing this song and that song. But there's a time where God moves and we just got to say, "Hey, >> something's happening in this room. Something just shifted. Something just changed. [applause] I can't miss song service. I can't miss the move. Let me explain to you what happens in and and it's it's so interesting to me. It's in the temple on Passover around 300 p.m. when sacrifices are slain on that day that they would begin to sing the song of Hallelujah. They would begin to sing the songs of Zion. This Hallel, this custom Jesus according to John 18:39. But ye have a custom that I should release unto you one at the Passover. He says, "Will I release unto you the king of the Jews?" 1 Corinthians 5:7 says, "Purge the purge out therefore the old leaven that you may be a new lump and as you are unleavened for even Christ our Passover." >> Jesus Christ is crucified on Passover. Just make sure I'm going just make sure everybody's with me. He's crucified on Passover. And according to Mark uh 15 and verse number 34, at the 9th hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani, which is being interpreted, my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? They stood, they heard him. He says here and and behold he called Elias and one ran and filled the sponge full of vinegar and put it on the reed and gave it to him to drink saying, let alone, let let us either whether Elias will come uh to take him down. And Jesus cried with a loud voice and gave up the ghost at the 9th hour >> 3 p.m. And it says when he gave up the ghost and the veil of the temple >> was rent in two. >> It was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. It was completely separated. Jesus dies, the veil was rent. No longer do you need the priest. No longer do you need the lamb. No longer do you need the scapegoat. No longer do you need the Lord's goat. And and all the while, I want you to understand what's happening according to Jewish tradition and according to what was happening in the temple. There was a priest >> in the temple. >> Probably more than one priest in the temple. They're in there doing priestly duties, sacrificing, singing Psalms. 113. >> Hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Singing the song of Hallel unto the Lord when all of a sudden >> so we can preach about the veil being torn >> there was somebody who witnessed that >> that was singing a song >> of Hallelujah >> unto the king >> Let let me just explain something to you tonight. I am looking for each and every service, no matter matter where I'm at, don't matter if I'm at home, don't matter if I'm here, don't matter if I'm in Kalamazoo or if I'm overseas, I'm looking for an opportunity in song service to allow God to interrupt. >> They were just going through a normal Sunday night service flow when all of a sudden the veil was torn. What separated me from him was destroyed. What separated me? Oh, I don't know about you, but that gets me excited tonight to know that all I got to do is praise him a little bit. And if I praise him a little bit, all of a sudden, whatever come between me and him all of a sudden can be re [cheering] I don't know what you came in here with. I don't know what's separating you from the glory of God. I don't know what's separating you from the mercy seat. But if you would praise him tonight, I believe God would take it apart. I believe God would tear it apart somewhere. [applause] Somebody shout hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. [cheering] Come on, somebody shout hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. [applause] >> There was a lot of people who missed it, >> but those priests did. >> All of a sudden, this this this holy of holies, this place, the glory of God. All of a sudden, I didn't have access to this without all of All of a sudden, the glory of God just sits down in that place. I don't know if you've ever been there, but I've been in those moments where they begin to sing and an anointed psalmist begins to sing about a God and it wasn't just it wasn't just another lyric. It wasn't just another melody. It wasn't just another chord. All of a sudden, the God of everything >> steps into my situation. He rests upon the room. >> I'm here to remind you, don't skip song service. >> Don't miss it. God wants to interrupt you. God wants to Yes. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. I'm thankful for the times where you lift your hands when you don't feel like it. I'm thankful for the times where you worship when you don't feel like it. I'm thankful for the times where you're going through it and you're going to we could say going through the motions. But don't you dare ever miss an opportunity to connect your heart with heaven because the veil was torn and it still is torn. And I'm here to witness his glory. How long's it been since you let God interrupt your service to him? How long's it been since you let God demonstrate himself? How long's it been, sir, since you spoke in another tongue? How long's it been since you ran an aisle? [applause] Pastors already kind of talked about it. I love these kids running the aisle. I love it. >> I love it. I spent a couple days with the basketball team. Wonderful group of young men. But we're missing it if we're conditioning them in a gym and not conditioning them in here. [applause] >> And I see too many daddies that are willing to rebound and throw batting practice but not willing to show them how to run. [applause] What happens? What what what happened that that that all of a sudden that they begin to grow up and they worship less and less and less and less and less? Shouldn't be that way, >> huh? >> God's done more for us. >> And the youngest ones are out worshiping everybody that God's done more for. [applause] Don't skip song service. I'm here for God to interrupt. And in the last place that they would sing this song in the ceremonial, the way was in the streets on Pentecost after the morning at 9:00 a.m. sacrifices were slain. 50 days later, the the people in the streets just after the morning sacrifice singing the Hallel in the celebration of Pentecost. Can you imagine? They're just walking the streets. You know who witnessed 120 come stumbling out >> drunk of an upper room is those who were having the feast of Pentecost >> singing the call and response of the Hallel. It's like they got the old songbook out. That wrong with a songbook, huh? >> But we're just reciting Psalms 113. We're just humming Psalms 114. >> Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised. His mercy endureth forever. And there's nothing wrong with that. But when it just becomes going through the motions, >> don't you ever don't you ever frown and look over and get frustrated with that person that comes staggering out the choir loft. [applause] Don't you ever don't you ever look down and say, "Oh, now that's too much for those kids that are running the know." There's 120 that come down and they interrupted a song service as they begin to sing the praises. Oh, he said, "Oh, this is this is a different kind of demonstration. These are not drunk as you suppose, seeing it's but the third hour of the day. There's just a different move of his spirit like we've never seen before. All of a sudden, there's a demonstration of a God who wants to get inside of you." [applause] >> Somebody shout hallelujah. >> Hallelujah. As the Pentecostals today, let the religious miss the song. Let them sing the songs. I'm thankful for it. But as the people who know who Jesus is, >> there ought to be a demonstration when we begin to sing the songs of Zion. I'm thankful for the musicians. I'm thankful for the singers. But when the Pentecostals start to worship, there's a demonstration that begins to happen. that begins to shake the room. That begins to [cheering] Oh, somebody ought to praise him for a moment. Ah, somebody ought to praise him for a moment. [applause] [cheering] Come on, that's it. Come on, that's it. Come on, that's it. So,
If you'd push a little bit, there's no telling what God do in this place tonight. There's a war for your worship. There's a war for your worship. Either God's getting it or somebody else is. I'm challenging you to bless the Lord. Bless the Lord. Bless the Lord.
[screaming] [applause] Give him praise. [cheering] [applause] >> [cheering] >> Oh, [laughter] [cheering] >> let me let me just tell you what Psalms 113 says that they're singing. Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye servants of the Lord. Praise the name of the Lord. The word there is the halal. It's to make show, to boast, to be glamorously foolish, >> to rave, outlandish. >> It's a eighth day type of worship. [cheering] >> When's the last time somebody looked at you and described you as foolish in his presence? When's the last time somebody looked at you and said, "Man, I ain't never seen them do that before." >> [applause] >> God's God's just waiting on somebody to worship. God's just waiting on somebody to worship.
As they turn as they turn as they turn their hearts, Psalms 115 says, "But we will bless the Lord from this time forth and forever more. Praise the Lord." that praise the Lord in the original text is Barack says to kneel in adoration. >> Can I show you something? I'm going to just kind of file through a few of these. All of the actions that we see in the Pentecostal church are identified in the hell. >> Psalms 116-1 17. I will offer thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving and I will call upon the name of the Lord that is to which is a choir of worshippers with upraised hands tonight. I looked up and thought, "Thank God for the choir. Thank God for the choir. Thank God for the people that'll sing. Thank God for the people that don't have to have a mic in their hands. Thank God for the people that'll get up and say, "Oh, I'm going to magnify the Lord and I want you to magnify the Lord with me." Why? Because he's great and he's greatly to be praised. It's not about me. It's about the name of God being lifted up and being glorified. Lift him up. [applause and cheering]
Psalms 117 and 1. Oh, praise the Lord all ye nations, praise him all ye people. Shabbach to address in a loud tone. like a trumpet. [cheering] [applause] >> God forbid it be louder at the football game than it is on a Sunday night at the Apostolic Restoration Church where God has brought me out of darkness into this mo [screaming] [cheering] [applause] I'm sorry. I'm sorry, but ain't nothing outside of these four walls going to get what my God gets. Ain't nothing going to get what my God gets. Ain't nothing going to get what my [cheering] [applause] Oh, no. No, no, no.
You You You Pentecostals, you just need to quiet down. You preachers need to quit yelling at us. Go get you a stool. I'm fine if you want to sit on a stool. I'm fine if you want to do that every now and then. But the Bible I read in Psalms 117:1, he says to address in a loud tone, >> to preach like a trumpet, >> shout it from the rooftops. I'm going to shout it from the rooftops and just pray I could pull somebody up out of the gutter. Somebody up out the muck and out the m. Why? God's done too much for me for me to just sit here. Some of you are starting to get it. Some of you are starting to get it. Oh, I've come to bless him. I've come to praise him. I've come to worship him. I've come to lift him up.
Psalms 118 is where we get yada which is to worship with extended hands. Psalms 118 and 24 is where we get guile >> and that's to spin around. [applause and cheering] You say all that's not in the Bible. Oh yes it is. It's the same word that they use for David when they say he dance for the Lord with all of his might. What's David doing? He's dancing. He's spinning. He says, "Oh, this is the best." Why? Because he's worthy. [music] >> I don't know what you come to do tonight, but I come to bless his name. I don't know what you come to do, but I come to lift him up. I've come to set him up on high. [applause]
It's no coincidence >> when we look back over our life, >> I think of the times >> that we sang the songs of Zion. >> And as we praised and we praised and we praised and we praised, all of a sudden the glory and somebody got healed in the back. Somebody got the Holy Ghost in the back. Somebody got healed of a cancer. Somebody got touched. Why? Because God wants to demonstrate his power. If we'll just worship him, if we'll get our pride out of the way, God can do something. [cheering] [applause] >> I'm just here to tell some of you tonight, it's going to take you getting uncomfortable in your flesh for God to do something in the spirit. It's going to take you getting uncomfortable in your flesh >> for God to do something in the spirit. [cheering] >> That's why I think it's so powerful that when Paul and Silas were thrown in prison, >> their feet were fast and stocks. >> They put them in the inner prison. People charged to watch over them. says, "And at midnight >> Paul and Silas prayed, saying praises unto God. The prisoners heard them and suddenly there was a great earthquake." >> Because when you worship, >> things start moving. >> Things start shaking. The foundations of the prisons were shaken and immediately all the doors were open and everyone's bands were loosed because when you praise and you begin to worship, all of a sudden things start happening in other people's life. [applause and cheering] >> [applause] >> But let me show you this. This is what's so powerful to me. Because when you learn to participate in song service, you not only know what to do, you know when to do it. >> I can't help but think >> this is this is ZDH version. This isn't King James version. >> Don't don't nobody call pastor and tell him, "Hey, man, he was preaching false doctrine." This is just my opinion. I think they were singing the hello >> because there was other people that were loosed at midnight >> after a Passover angel. The Passover angel, because there was blood on the doorpost, said at midnight, the Pharaoh that's been fighting you is not only going to let you go, but he's going to tell you to go worship that God because that God's manifested himself in such a powerful way that even your enemies are telling you to go worship him. [cheering] [applause] >> Exodus was never about freedom. It's all about a new king. >> He said, "You go worship him." And so I can't help but think that maybe Paul and Silas started singing the Old Testament, >> praise ye the Lord, praise God in his sanctuary, >> and they thought, "Hey, hey, if we're going to sing, let's sing when God brought them out." >> Cuz if he did it for them, >> he could do it for me. >> If he healed their body, he can heal your body. If he gave them the Holy Ghost, he wants to give you the Holy Ghost. And honey, you're just a song away from God doing something great in your life. Everything I've got in this Bible tells me that I've never seen the righteous forsaken. I've never seen his seed begging for bread. I've seen God heal. I've Do you want to be a part of it tonight? Do you want to see God work tonight? >> [cheering] [music] >> He can bring you out tonight. >> So after the Passover, Miriam and the prophetess, the sister of Aaron took the temple in her hand, and all the women went out, and they were the temples, and the dance, and sing ye the Lord, for he had triumphed gloriously, and the horse and his rider are in the sea. What used to whip my back? What used to work me over? What used to keep me bound? What had me in bondage for years is under the blood, under the water. I've been delivered. And so what do I do after Passover? I'll sing the song. [cheering] [music] [applause]
Musicians, come help me. Some of you in this place tonight. Lord, if I could prophesy something to somebody tonight, it would be some of you haven't passed over because you're not willing to worship. >> It's easy to get out the timber and dance when he's buried everything behind you. But some of you are looking at a problem. You're looking at a dilemma. You're looking at something that's bigger than you. And I'm telling you, if you'll worship, if you'll worship him on the front side of your Passover, God's about to do something in your life. [cheering and applause] God's [screaming] going to do it in your life tonight if you're willing to worship. If you're willing to praise him, praise, praise, praise. Come on, somebody. Would you right now just throw your hands up in the air and say, "God, would you do it for me? God, I want to see your work. Praise him. Praise him. I've got a song the angels cannot sing. Glory. Hallelujah. I've been redeemed. Come on, somebody. [music] Oh. Hear me. I'm almost done. I'm almost done.
The psalmist David, the eighth son, gets out. I could just picture him on the edge of a cave of Adulum where he's running from a man. Isn't that amazing? A man that kills giants is now running from a man. >> He sits down in a cave where he's hiding out. And the Bible says he's stricken with fear. He's scared of a man who wants to kill him. He finds himself in a cave with problems, situations, issues. And it's amazing to me how this narrates [music] because he goes to seclude himself to a cave and it says 400 people showed up. It's weird. 400 people show up when you're in [music] fear and anxiety and depression and and you're just looking to try to be by yourself. You got your own problems. Wouldn't nobody go out and fight Goliath? But everybody will show up when you're a cave with problems. >> It's the same people said his brothers, his family, all the same people show up. And guess what? When they show up, isn't this the way it works, right? you got your own problems and they show up and the Bible describes them like a Twitter feed in debt, in distress and discontent. >> Say, man, that's that's a that's a preaching point. Well, David actually goes and if you go and look, it's a good Bible study. Go look at the the psalms that David writes from the cave of Adullum. He writes three and he writes them to diagnose the three issues. >> He preaches mercy to those that are in debt. He preaches he preaches worship to those that are discontent. He he completely gives them exactly what they need. But David is right here and he writes to make a he he writes to make a transformation because he says I'll be the captain of these cavemen. I'll be the captain of these 400 discontent in debt and just just messed up folks because he says I know how to transition them. I know how to allow the presence of God to do something in their life. And so later we read that David's got 400 mighty men. >> Well, before they were mighty men, they were cavemen. >> Before they had courage, they had fear. >> If you look back over their life, they had a season of debt and discontent and in distress. But could I just read to you one psalm that David writes, and I can't help but think how powerful it is. We can open up service with this, but when you realize he's writing it from a cave with a bunch of sorry friends, it really gives it perspective. I will bless the Lord at all times, and his praise shall continually. He didn't write that on a Sunday night with a bunch of shouting saints. He wrote it on a [applause] on a terrible Tuesday with a bunch of cavemen mumbling and grumbling. It probably echoed with all the mlly grub penny potty party. It's just going it's it's a it's a your situation's worse than my situation. But let me one up you today cuz I got this going on in my life. >> David said I will bless the Lord at all times. I know you got some problems, but let praise be in your mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord. The humble shall hear thereof and be glad.
But here, here, brother Justin, come here real quick. Come here and help me. Here's where everything changes. >> Oh, God. >> I believe this is why the church is the church. I believe this is how you turn cave men into mighty men. I believe this is how you turn anxious women into powerful praying intercessors. I believe this is how you deal with the issues is because as he says, I'll bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth. He gets on down through there and he says, "This ain't enough. It's not enough for me to worship by myself." He says, "Oh, magnify the Lord with me." Why don't you try this right here? Would you exalt his name with me? Would you do a little dance with me? Would you bless the Lord with me? Would you try leaping for joy? Would you try? [music] Oh, back by the Lord with me [music] in a crowd, in distress, and in death and discontent. He said, "Would you magnify the Lord and just see what it'll do for you? Would you begin to bless the Lord and see what it'll do for you? >> [music] >> He said, "I sought the Lord and he heard me." "And he delivered me out of awe." [screaming] Somebody ought to shout, "Awall." >> You say, "Well, you don't know what I'm going through." Sorry. >> It falls under the category of >> awe. He delivered me out of all my fears. He can't. >> Could I tell somebody tonight? He may not be He may not be just ready to bring you out of your cave until he gets fear out of you. >> I'm here to tell you, under the uncction of the Holy Ghost, until he gets your pride and your fear out of the way in worship, he's not going to change your situation cuz you're not ready to come out yet. But I'm here to tell you, if you get your pride out of the [music] way, if you begin to worship the Lord, if you begin to [music] looked unto him and were lightened, and their faces were not ashamed.
I'm here tonight and I know some of you are thinking, "Who's this young?" I hope you still think I'm young preacher think he is. I've been in this thing a long time >> and I know I I know I'm never going to get it, but every time I get behind the pull pit, I'm looking for 100% participation. >> All of my friends, all of my family, they'll tell me, "Zack, you just got to give up at some point. You just got to give up. You can't make nobody serve God. You can't make nobody worship God. But I'm going to die trying to get somebody to realize what it means to begin to just worship the Lord. Why? Because when I begin to worship, their faces were lightened. Because somebody over here said, "Would you magnify the Lord with me?" And their faces were not [music] ashamed. And what's that mean? All of a sudden, you forgot that you were supposed to be so cordial. You forgot that you can't let your hair down. You forgot that you were worried about what the people across the aisle were thinking. No, Sere. [music] You need to forget what everybody else thinks about you. And you need to let the Lord know tonight how good he is. [music] [music] The poor man cried and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. He keeps going back to that. And the angel of the Lord encamped round about them that fear him and delivered them. I wish somebody would understand tonight that there might be issues in your house. There might be issues in your life, but there's angels around you. You might be in a cave with unfavorable company, but the angels of the Lord are encamped around about you. You might have 400 unfavorable on the inside, but the angels of the Lord are circling round and round about you tonight. [music] from a cave. He said, "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord. Oh, fear the Lord, ye his saints, for there is no want." Why? Cuz he's speaking to the [music] discontent. There's no one in him that fear him. The righteous cry. The Lord heareth and deliverth them out of all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them of a broken heart, and saveth such as should be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord deliverth him out of them all. [applause]
I've come tonight. I've come tonight to make sure that everything in this place that walked in here bound leaves loose. >> It can happen. It can happen. It can happen in this place tonight. I got one last point. I'm going to turn these musicians loose and I'm going to allow you to participate in song service. Fear. Fear. Fear has manifest itself in a million ways. Fear can you you can be self-conscious. You can be ashamed. You can be anxious. You can be there's all sorts of things that branch from the the the emotion of fear. But fear in its simplest form, I try to be able to communicate with everybody in one statement. I don't want to make it too complex for somebody that they don't understand. I don't want to make it too simple for those uh people that are so complex that they think that I'm simple minded. So, let me just give it to you in a the nicest definition that I can. Here's what fear is. It's an agreement with yourself. >> You've never touched a snake, but you're scared of them. >> Your hands get sweaty. You >> say, "I'm afraid of heights." Have you ever been up there? >> You've made an agreement with yourself. >> If somebody else can do it, you can, too. >> They put their They put their clothes on just like you breathe God's air. >> You can do it. But you've made an agreement with yourself >> that this is how it is. >> So, if that's the definition of fear, what's the definition of faith? is changing who you got an agreement with.
