If you are having a hard time with letting go, letting go of that toxic ex, them toxic habits, letting go of that toxic work environment, whatever it is, whatever you trying to let go of, I can help you. Check out the ebook, Letting Go When God Says So. The link is in the description. It's a step-by-step guide on how to release with grace. Why? Because there's peace on the other side of release.
And then also we now have the prayer book available, the Hey God prayer book. You know, I read this to my kids every morning before they go to school. And it's amazing. It's like these are the prayers for the things that we don't know how to say out loud. That's why I created it because a lot of people don't know what to really say. And that's why I created it. But I'm yapping right now. I just wanted to tell y'all that. And let's get into the message.
You know, let me tell you something that a lot of people don't really like to hear, but they need to. God owes you nothing. Not your dreams, not your timeline, not the relationship that you've been begging for, not the doors that you thought would open by now. Nothing. He owes you nothing. And I know that don't feel good to hear because somewhere along the way we started believing that if we pray enough, if we try enough, if we suffer enough, then somehow God becomes obligated to reward us. Like he's in debt to our effort, right? Like he's on a timer with our expectations. But that is not God. That's entitlement wearing a spiritual outfit. That's all that is.
Because the truth is this. Everything that you have already right now is grace. The fact that you woke up this morning, grace. The fact that your heart is still beating after everything that you've been through, grace. The fact that you didn't lose your mind in that season that was trying to break you. Who you think did that? That's grace. And we overlook that because we're too busy staring at what we don't have, right? We're too busy staring at what we don't have that we start measuring God's goodness based on what he hasn't given us yet. Instead of actually recognizing what he's already sustained us through. See, there's a big difference right there. And that is very dangerous because it turns your relationship with God into a transaction instead of a surrender, right? You start thinking, "I've been good. So, where's my blessing? I've been patient. So, God, why am I still waiting? I've been faithful. So, why does it feel like I'm being skipped right now?" That's probably what you're thinking. That's probably what you're asking yourself. And slowly, without even realizing it, you stop loving God for who he is, and you start resenting him for what he hasn't done. And that's a big mistake.
And see right there, that's the part that nobody likes to really talk about, right? That quiet frustration, that quiet, silent disappointment, that moment where you're still praying, but your heart don't feel the same anymore. I felt that because deep down, you thought you deserved more by now. But let's be real. Let's keep it all the way 100. If we really got what we deserved, most of us wouldn't even be here right now. And if God operated strictly on what we earned, not what he decided to give out of love, we would have been cut off a long, long time ago. Because let's be real, we've all had moments where we ignored him. We've all had those. We've all had moments where we chose ourselves over him. We all had moments where we knew better and still did what we wanted to do. So, if we're going to be honest, which we need to be, the real conversation isn't, "Why hasn't God given me more?" That's not the real conversation. It's, "Why has he been so merciful to me at all?"
Because grace is not God paying you back in spite of what you think. Grace is God holding you together when you should have fallen apart. That's what grace is. Grace is God covering you in seasons where you were out of alignment. That's what grace is. He was covering you. Grace is God keeping doors closed that you begged him to open because he saw what you couldn't see. That's what grace is. And I think a lot of us are frustrated over things that, if we actually got them when we wanted them, it would have destroyed us. You're mad about a relationship that didn't work, right? But you don't realize that you weren't healed enough to handle it. See, we got to switch the mindset. You're upset about opportunities that didn't come through, but you don't realize that your character wasn't ready to sustain it. You don't realize that. You're questioning God's timing, but you haven't questioned your own readiness. That's what you should be questioning. That's the shift right there.
Because when you understand that God owes you nothing, you stop moving like life is supposed to go your way. And you start moving with humility. Humility. You start waking up grateful instead of entitled. You start saying thank you, right? You start saying thank you more than you say "Why not me?" And that changes everything, right? Because now your faith isn't built on outcomes. It's built on trust. Now you're not serving God for what he can give you. You're walking with him because you understand that just having him is enough. You understand that now.
And I know that that is very, very hard, especially when you're in a season where it feels like everybody else is getting what you've been praying for. Seems like everybody's getting that when you're watching people, you know, step into relationships, into opportunities, into blessings that look like the exact thing that you've been asking God for. I know it. You're sitting there wondering if you got overlooked. I know it. But maybe, just maybe, it's not you being denied. Maybe God is doing a deeper work in you that doesn't come with applause. You ever thought about that? Maybe he's doing that. Maybe he's building something in your spirit that people can't see yet. Because some of the greatest transformations don't look like elevation at first. They look very, very painful. They look like isolation. They look like delay. They look like confusion. And if you misinterpret that season, you'll start thinking God is absent in your life when he's actually the closest he's ever been. Right? The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. Right? He's working on parts of you that can't go where you're asking to go because, let's be real. Let's be 100. Let's keep it 100. A lot of us want blessings without the responsibility. We want elevation without discipline. We want promise without the process. We can't skip this stuff. And when it doesn't come fast, guess what? We start questioning God. We start questioning God instead of questioning ourselves.
What if it's just protection? What if God is more concerned with who you're becoming than what you're receiving? What if? Because if he gave you everything right now as you are right now, like if he gave you everything right now, would you even be able to keep it or would you just crush it? Would it expose you or would it reveal that you aren't as ready as you think you are? Right? See, grace isn't just about what God gives. It's also about what he withholds. And that's the hard truth. It's hard to understand that because we celebrate open doors, but we don't always appreciate the closed one, right? We thank God for what we received, but we rarely, very rarely thank him for what we were denied. And some of your greatest blessings in life are going to come from prayers that didn't get answered.
And that's very hard to understand and accept from people who walked away from seasons that forced you to sit still and face yourself because those moments God isn't ignoring you. He's refining you, right? He's stripping away the parts of you that can't carry what you're asking for. And it hurts. It hurts. It's very uncomfortable. I know it feels like you're stuck. I know it does. I felt stuck for so long. But you're not stuck. You're being shaped right now. And the moment you stop seeing God as someone who owes you something and start seeing him as someone who's already given you more than you deserve, your whole perspective shifts. Your whole perspective shifts. You stop counting what's missing and you start appreciating what's present. Big difference. You stop rushing the process and you start respecting it. You stop demanding answers and you start trusting his decisions. And that right there is where peace comes from. Not from everything going away. No, no, no, no. But from knowing that even when it doesn't, God is still good. Even when it doesn't make sense, right? God is still good. He's still intentional. And that's something that we got to keep in our mind. Grace. He don't owe you nothing, man. God don't owe you nothing. Humble yourself. And that's something that I had to do. I had to humble myself. God don't owe me nothing, right? I want to receive, of course, but he don't owe me nothing. And that makes me appreciate everything more that he has done for me. He's kept me safe. I'm still here able to give this message. He's kept my family safe despite all the hard things that we've been through. And what you have to do is look at your life and see what God has done for you in your life instead of complaining all the time. Right. And that's when life feels a whole lot better. That's when that peace comes in. Man, God, you did this for me, man. I didn't like how this situation felt, but you did this for me, man. Man, I appreciate you. I appreciate you, God. The word for the week: appreciation. Appreciate what God has done for you in your life. That's what you got to do. Appreciate it. Grace. He's already like, like, stop playing, man. I'm getting my lips getting ashy again. I'm yapping, man. I don't want to yap y'all heads off too much today, though. I love y'all, though. I love y'all, though.
If you are having a hard time with letting go, you know what you can do? You can check out the ebook, Letting Go When God Says So. It's a step-by-step guide on how to release with grace. Why? Because there's peace on the other side of release. Check it out. I don't know if y'all can hear the kids and stuff playing in the pool. It's hot out now. You know, I love to have, I love to hear people having a good time. You know what I'm saying? I'm about to go get my kids in a little bit. So, until next time, I'll see you guys when I see you guys. Peace. Hey. Yeah.
Woke up with breath in my lungs. I ain't earned that. Sunlight in my face. I ain't playing that. All of the nights I was lost, you still helped me. Even when I went quiet, you still felt me. I've been running in circles, chasing my own way. Still you cover my mess like it's okay. Looking back in my life, I can't deny it. You've been there through the chaos and the silence. I got questions. I got scars. I got history. So you give me love like it's meant for me. I don't deserve it. No, not at all. But you keep showing up every time I fall. Grace, you keep pouring out on me. I ain't do enough to earn this peace. You don't owe me, nothing I can see. Still, you gave me everything. Grace, when I fall, you stay the same. Never switch, never go away. I was lost but you called my name. That's why I sing about your grace. Your grace. Your grace.
There were days I was doubting your presence. Heart heavy. I was fighting depression. Still you sent me a sign in the moment. Let me know I ain't fighting this lonely. I made choices I can do now. Still you love me like I'm brand new now. Ain't no version of me you don't see through. Still you stay, never leave, never move. I got flaws, I got pride. I get weak sometimes. Still you stay right there by my side. I don't deserve it.
