So this is going to be our whiteboard segment right now. What we're going to be talking about in this topic or in this segment is we're going to be talking about the difference between using a projector versus not using a projector. The confusion of it, the confusion method, that's what I like to call it. The confusion versus using the projector. Or we could say freehand. All right.
Like freehand like there's supposed to be some like what are we in the the 80s or something like oh you're supposed to be freehanding it you're [laughter]. I always crack up when I think about that like someone actually spending hours and hours and hours freehanding freehanding like and then when I see and I know how these people work too like when they're freehanding a lot of times they're erasing they're spending time doing the they're they're erasing art and then they're going back like I I can't even imagine doing that. All right. So, here we're going to be talking about freehand. Make sure this is dry. Freehand versus using the projector. I need a new marker. Let me see where my other marker is at. Oh, here it is. Interesting. Interesting. Freehand versus the projector. That's just crazy. Let me make sure that we're set up right. All right, we are. You can see me good. All right. Freehand versus the projector. Let me get some of my electrolytes. Watermelon juice. Freehand versus the projector.
One thing, even me, the thing that I can't stand is staring at a blank canvas. I can't stand staring at a blank canvas. Like just the feeling of being like, "What do I do? It's so serious. I need to have something so profound. I need to have something that's different. I need to try to reinvent the wheel. I need to try to make something where it's either a Mona Lisa that people are going to treat me serious or I need to figure out something that's going to be beautiful. But what if I have the symmetry wrong? Oh, what if I have the the northwest to the east of the shadow wrong? Which which way that the wind blows?" And I don't have to think about any of that stuff. So here, when you're freehand, you're staring at a blank canvas. Blank canvas. That sucks. That sucks. Looking at just that whole ocean of white canvas and trying to think to yourself, what can your imagination have? Well, Corbellic said that we're all creators and that we're all natural artists. I should just be able to throw something up on there. And then what I see I see the difference when people actually try to do this when they do the blank canvas and they're just going off of whatever they think or they're trying to do a reference like okay I'm going to look at a piece of paper there's a whale and I'm going to let me let me do the whale on the canvas and you know what it doesn't look I know I say that art is subjective and whatever but it doesn't look good because it looks like you're trying to go off of the reference. It looks like you're actually trying. I'd rather I'd rather you not try and just have a different version of a whale then and you just have a a a cubist whale or something of a way that Picasso would go about it and have confidence on it. But you could tell when someone is trying to freehand and they're just trying to actually go off of the oh no, let me erase that part. Oh, let me go over like you could tell it doesn't look good. It doesn't look confident. So, I hate that feeling of the blank canvas in comparison to when when using the projector. Only thing that we have to do is just pick an image. Oh, that's not two. That's number one. So, only thing that we have to do is just pick an image of what we want, what our reference is. That's all we have to do. Pick an image, project it, and then we can do our own work. Only thing we have to do is pick our image. I love that. I'll pick any image cuz the thing is my mind works so fast and I know y'all's mind works fast, too. And sometimes like we we get things so messed up and we get things convoluted because our mind might work faster than what our hand works. Our brain is thinking about different references. We're inspired by so many different things. That's why a lot of times for us artists and especially in the community, maybe at times it's even better for you to actually take time out of your day. That's why I always suggest in the beginning of your day, maybe work in bulk. Maybe work where you're actually doing uh paper that's on the table and you could do multiple pieces or something like that. That way you're just getting the the bulk out of the way. But here we could just pick an image for whatever our reference is. We throw it up on the canvas and then boom, we knock it out onto the next one. I got so many different ideas and so many things that I want to actually paint and I want it to look good. I don't want to fight against it where I know it doesn't look good. What's the point of me doing a reference freehanded if I know later on I'm not going to be happy with it? That's what's going to happen. I know that it's not going to look exactly how I want it to look. Right? Like I'm looking at this painting right now that's on my wall. Let me show you this real quick. We did this one together. I'm going to show I'm going to put up two of them. Check this out. We did this together. We did this together like in 10 15 minutes right now. Of course, if we really wanted to, we could freehand Bugs Bunny. Like, okay, we could probably freehand it, but it probably wouldn't come out the proportions of how I want it to look. It wouldn't look that great. Right now, here's a Cubis paint that I had the proportions on. And this is just a me freehanding it. We did this painting together. We did this in like um 15 20 minutes. But it's a beautiful painting where I used the confidence of the projector to do it. I just pick the image and then that way I'm on to the next one because in our business time is money. As long as artists have been around, they always try to find ways to make things faster. They always try to find ways to make paintings faster.
So that goes into number two, not knowing what to paint. Because when you're staring at a blank canvas, you're over here trying to recreate the wheel. And then you're like, "What should I paint? Should it be serious? Should it be abstract?" Then what? Then eventually what end up happening? You end up doing abstraction. You end up doing too much abstraction. And the abstraction doesn't even look good. You know, most of the times it doesn't even look good because you don't know what to do. And then you know what? I'm going to tell you what what's going to happen faster than anything when you try this way. You're going to get burnt out. You're going to get burnt out because you're just going to say to yourself, "I'm not an artist. None of my stuff looks good." You're already a creator. You already know how to create and have fun. You just you just need to get away from what these art schools and these gatekeepers told you that you need to be a magician. Even magicians, they had tricks on what they do, but they didn't tell you that how the how the trick worked, right? And that's how a lot of the old school artists worked as well, too. Sometimes we think that these people are actually artists when really they just had tricks and they were using projectors.
Number two is trace the core shape fast. So, I mean, people could say that we trace or whatever, but really we're just using the proportions. All right, but here you could just have your you could just say trace. Who cares? Fine. I'm tracing. I'm tracing the proportions. I don't care if that's what you want to say. Anytime people say the word trace, what do they always think of? They think of of children, right? They think of, "Oh, this word sounds so bad. You're tracing." Because when you were a kid, you didn't know how to draw, so you just trace the lines. They think that's what we do. That's not what we do. What we do is we're basically just tracing the proportions. We're making sure that the proportions are symmetrical. If you want to say tracing, I don't care. I don't care. Whatever. Fine. People try to make this into such a naughty naughty word in the art industry. If you're an artist, you're tracing. Like, we're not allowed to do that at all. You're just supposed to freehand everything and you're supposed to it's just supposed to come natural to you. It doesn't. All right? Like I've I've done I've done 18,000 paintings, even more than that. All right? That's just as many I sold. And I still if you give me a picture of a bird, I can't do it. I can't do it. My hand will not do what my eyes want to do. It doesn't matter. But if you give me the proportions, I can make something more beautiful out of it than most artists can because I'm going to give it to you in my artistic design. Because we're all geniuses. We're all artists.
Number three, thinking that you need to draw freehand. This all goes back to being the freehand. What a waste of time. And these people are broke, man. These people are so broke when they do that freehand stuff. I'm telling you, I know so many artists, the the artists who do this freehand stuff, they're broke because you're wasting too much time. You're going back and forth. Who's got time? Who's got time? Even after you like, you know what freehand artists are? Freehand artists, they have nine-to-five jobs because they're spending so much time doing the freehand as an hobbyist for other people. They don't even have time to make the money. You're freehanding. How do you have time to flip the painting? Like, you're over here spending like a week or so just on one drawing or whatever it is. And everybody online, your friends and family, they're going to say, "It's so beautiful. It's so nice that you freehanded that thing." They're not buying it. They don't give a damn. They're not buying it. And if you do sell it, you don't even have enough time to It's not even worth the It's not even worth the time that you spent to do the freehand to where it it means anything. So then by the time that you're done with it, you don't even want to do another freehand drawing. You want to take a break in between. Like that's what freehand uh artists do. They want to take a break in between because it was so much work for them to even get to that point and then you got to wait around for the sale. These people are broke. All right, I don't care. I'm going to be want to say it. Free hand. Free hand.

Now, when we're talking about the projector here, you could paint over it with your own style. So when people think of tracing, we're not tracing it. We're doing our own style. That's why I always say this isn't an art class with Corbellic Studios. I'm not going to teach you how to be an artist. That's crazy. You're already an artist. You're already a creator. Like, am I going to tell a child who's who's drawing, "Hey, you need to go to art class before you play with those Crayola crayons." What are you talking about? Like, you're already a creator. God brought us here to be creators. We're already creators. Made in the image of the creator. All right? We're already creators, so we're just using our own style. Use own style. This is my favorite. This is my favorite because we all got our own funky style. We all got our own cool thing that is cool. We all got our own colors. Why are you thinking so deep about it? Why are you making this more complicated? You're so brainwashed into thinking that it needs to be more difficult and it needs to be more more uh it needs to be hard. It needs to be complicated and it doesn't. You are already a phenomenal person. You were already a superhero. How come you don't believe in it? How come you're not doing your own style, but we're just using the projectors? It's okay. All right. Let me see here. What do we have? I was just reading. [laughter] I'm sorry. I glanced over just so I could read some of the comments on there. They cracked me up because uh someone wrote in there that I don't have the patience to draw freehand. I got ADHD. I think most of us do. I think most of us do. That's why we're here. Like I don't have the patience to sit down and draw. Basically, you're you're telling me to do a homework assignment. You're telling me to do like you're basically telling me to do academics when it comes to art. It doesn't make sense to me. I don't have the patience for that. But we all have our own style. We have all have our favorite colors that we like to use. We all have our favorite uh just just feeling of what the paint feels like when it splatters against it. You know, there was times where it's like when I paint, for example, right, the lady that I just did, it may not I I love the feeling of what the paintbrush feels like where it's just going in a direction of whatever it is, but that's my thing. And whatever your thing is or whatever it feels up against the the canvas or the paper or whatever color, you can do that. But we're just using the proportions. If I use if I get a tiger, right, I'm not going to paint a tiger with the tiger hairs and all a thousand hours and make it perfect. Instead, I'm going to choose my own colors and I'm going to choose my own path. Maybe maybe I put a X on top of the left eye or something because that's what I want to do in the moment. That's what I want to do. I'm just using the proportions.
All right, number four. >> [laughter] >> Number four is you you're going to be freezing up when you uh when you're doing the freehand. You're going to be freezing up. You know how many I hate this, man. I hate this. And I know you know what I'm talking about. You know, you know those moments where it's like, "Okay, I'm inspired. I want to be an artist. I want to create. Let me go to Michael's. Let me get the canvases." I pro I told everybody I'm so inspired. I'm gonna get the canvases right here. I got a I got a canvas. Look at this big white ocean. Look at this big white ocean of canvas. I got every Okay, I'm I'm serious now. I got the easel. I got the paint. I mean, you're sitting there forever thinking about what to create and you're trying to recreate the wheel. You're over here freezing up. You're thinking about what to do, what how to be fancy. You're freezing up. And the more that you have time to think, the more time that you have time to thank yourself out of it and be like, I'm not an artist after all. Cuz you're over here freezing up and you got time to be thinking all the time. Paralysis by analysis. You're an you're you're analyzing that white ocean of canvas too much trying to be a freehand artist because they told you that's the way to go. You don't want people to make fun of you. I can't do it the other way. People I I don't want people to make fun of me. They're going to say that I'm not a real artist because I'm using a projector. I went to art school so I could learn how to do this. I've been getting straight A's my whole life. What if they say all of a sudden that I'm cheating? All of a sudden I'm a cheater. I don't want to be a cheater. I'll get a F compared to using the projector. You just finish clean in less time. It's just less time. Less time. And time is money. Not only is time is money in our business, in our industry, but time is money in our life, right? We could create more art. We could put it out there. We could feel confident in the decisions that we're making. But also, I always say this all the time, and you know it. I honestly believe that the world, society, our jobs, situations, they've already taken so much time from us already. They've already taken so much time from us. So why give something so simple another chance to take more time away from you? Like I'm really passionate about this one right here is about time. I'm really passionate about it because I feel like there's so many things that has taken time away from you. That's why I'm passionate about teaching you about how to make money, about how to free yourself to drop your ego and how to create art for eBay. The market is already there. Use the projector. Save yourself time. You know, to this day, being being human, like we can't fight regret. Regret is just looking in the past. I even have that to this day. And one of the things that I regret or always like thinking about, and it's it's a sickening thing. It's just time where it's like, "Oh, I wish that I could go back in time and do this. I wish I could go back in time and learn this thing." But you can't. That's where wisdom comes from. and a a way for us to shave time to save time. Just use the projector, get it done and over with and make the money cuz then you're going to have your data points of what sells. You're never going to have a real data point based off of freehand stuff. You're never going to have a data point on what sells because it's not fast enough. And when it comes to success in any business, even if it's not our business, is that it's time. Success comes with time or speed.
Number five with being freehand is believing that you're cheating. I'm cheating. No, you believe that you're you're cheating or that you're being a cheater somehow. Excuse [clears throat] me. Like I said, it all goes back. I always always think about the type of mindset of the people who always try to do things whatever the artistic way of however they say the gatekeepers and be freehanded. I always think about academics. These are the same type of people their whole lives. They try to, you know, I got straight A's my whole life and I did everything society told me to do the right way. I can't do it this way or I'm cheating. And if I'm cheating, then it's going to go against me. I can't cheat. I'm If I do this, then people are going to think that I'm not a real artist and then it's not worth the the money. Then what happens is if I do sell the artwork from me cheating, they're going to take the money back from me. They're going to sue me because I'm taking the references. I'm not doing it myself. Like these these are the actual thoughts that people are thinking to themselves when they're creating art. And it's like, dang, at that point, you're not even being a creator. You don't even believe in yourself to be a superhero. Instead, you're you're you're doubting I always I say you're doubt you're not only are you doubting your superhero ability, but you're doubting God. You're doubting God and what he already put into you. And you're putting all the pressure on yourself on on on your human self, which is crazy because all things impossible are possible with the creator. And you're already made in the image of the creator. So that's how I think about it. I mean, I'm not going to doubt myself about any of it. It's meant to be. I'm cheating. Yeah. Right. Okay.
Number five. When you're using the projector, you just make the the process repeatable. So, I can repeat it. I can repeat the process. That's the cool thing about using the projector, baby, is that we could we could always we could always repeat it. Meaning that say if there's a reference that somebody really likes and they say, "I really like that reference. I want to have a commission of it. I really like that one. I want to do a larger one of it. I can repeat it because I'm using the projector and I can make it in a different image." So, what I'll tell people is this. I could easily make the same painting of that one that you like, but also give me artistic freedom where it's going to be um where it's going to be intuitive. So, I'm going to have intuitive decisions off of whatever I'm going to do, but it's still going to be based off of the same reference of what you like and it's going to be better. And people love that idea. But I could always repeat whatever the thing is that people like because the more data points that I put out there of what I know is winning in art or whatever. I'm able to repeat it. I'm able to to know that data point and say, you know what, that data point worked last time when when I was doing the landscapes, the UFOs and the Bigfoot with the cactus behind it. You know what? Let me pump out 10 of those today. I could pump 10 of I could pump 10 of those out because I know the data point that's what people liked or even if there's a different time in the market where maybe someone didn't like it when I was doing it for auction but then they like it and it sold for a lot when it comes to the buy it now. I can repeat that and I can put it back into the buy it now. Those paintings that we did together, those two paintings where they look like uh the the portraits of like the abstract Freda, right? I've done plenty of those and I just did it with you real easy and I could always repeat those because I know the market likes those. It's repeatable.
Number six with freehand is turning one canvas into drama. Just a big drama. Just one canvas. Like dang, you turn one canvas into a big drama. Like it's just a whole production. It's a whole mindset. It's a whole like you got to prepare so much and you know I'm I'm making fun I'm making fun of this right but I'm only making fun of it because I'm the artist that was on that side. I did this and I used to spend a week or so just prep like I'm not going to say preparing maybe sometimes it was preparing where I would spend a long time doing the references of what I wanted to have the the background the uh the background's going to be to what the principles going to be the what the color layout was going to be to how I feel about it I would have to write like then it would get to a point where the painting becomes the poetry. I got to write a poetry of what it means. Well, actually, I was sitting at a bus stop near the Washington DC memorial and then I was feeling the sun gaze on me within the Indian stars and I was like then it becomes this whole poetry. It becomes this whole drama on one painting because you want to freehand it and it has to be more than what it is. Then I have to do my wheat paste, get that ready. like it becomes this whole thing. Then I had to get the camera ready and I got to show how I'm like so one one canvas it would take me like a week. One canvas would take me a week and that's be and that and that used to be like a short period of time and then I'm like proud of myself. I'm getting free likes. I'm getting the viral moments. Oh, I feel so good but nobody's buying it and it doesn't matter. And imagine having a whole week go by. Now think about our world right now. Like like think about our world right now. You know how much money that is in a week to let a week go by of money. Impression rates, conversion rate, promos, discounts, letting go by a week, a week. Just letting a week go by of no money like that just off of one canvas. That's crazy. Like you know how much paintings that we create in our community in one week collectively? Thousands. Oh, this isn't seven. This is six. But whatever.
When working with a projector, you're able to stack multiple canvases in a session. So, you could have like and and our session is what? Our session is 90 minutes because that's a healthy session, right? 90 minutes is a healthy session. That's only an hour and a half of you just being straight focused. You could be straight focused. No cell phone, no nothing. You're just working on that time. And that's a session. Now, how many canvases can we do in one of our sessions? In one session, I'm going to put here cuz we teach uh six canvases. So, 90 minutes. That equals six canvases because we're using the projector. 90 minutes equals six canvases, which equals 15 minutes a canvas. We could do 15 minutes. Come on. 15 minutes on to the next one. Don't give me this stuff saying that you can't do it. I'm going to tell you something. You're right in whatever you say that you can and cannot do in life. If you say that you can't do something, then you're right. If you saying that you can do something, then you're right. Whatever your brain says that you can and cannot do, then you are correct. So, stop telling yourself that you can't do something, that you're not possible, cuz that just lets me know the mindset of the person that you are anyways, and that you're not capable of making whatever dollar amount that you want to make. If you want to make a certain dollar amount, you need to start telling yourself and giving yourself affirmations that you can. Stop speaking negativity into your mind, into what you do, into your business. That's why they call it spelling. All right? Because they're spells. Stop giving yourself word magic spells that you can't do something. I used to be one of these type of people too and think that I couldn't do a certain number a day. I I can't do it until I until I broke it down on paper. I have the math. I have my focus. And I'm like, come on. That's 15 canvas. That's 15 minutes per canvas. The reason that you're saying that you can't do it is because your egos evolved and you're still trying to bring your old world way of thinking of how to create art into what we're doing as a business. You can't have it both ways. And everybody knows I always say you can't serve two masters. Stop trying to serve two masters and bring your old way of thinking about how to create art into our business model so that way you can make money. Which one do you want? You can't serve two masters. Do you want to make your pretty art for your friends and family that takes you a while to do and that you're conditioned to do? Or do you want to create lottery tickets and you want to make the money? You can't have it both ways. Which one do you want? It's up to you. I'm not one to force you on whatever decision that you that you want to make about that. But stop telling yourself that you can and can't do something. And don't put it out into the community as either because it's contagious. You can do it. You can do 15 minutes per canvas. Get on to the next one. Buy timers on Amazon. They're very cheap. I have them in the supply list. They're only like I think $5 and you get two of them. That's what we use. Get on to the next one. And then what you're trying to sell, what you're trying to say to me is that the market, no, I can't do 15 minutes because the market's not going to like it. Here we go again. You can't have it both ways. How do you know what the market likes? You don't know. Complete the canvas and go down to the next one. Speed creates more opportunity. You need speed. And anything that you do in business is about speed. Speed creates opportunity. We just got done talking about that. Speed creates opportunities. It's about speed. Anything that you do in business, anything that you do in life, it's about speed. It's not about having the right steps right now. I always say that I don't know what I'm doing, but only thing that I really do know with what I'm doing is that I show up and I'm working at speed. And then what happens along the way is that I perfect whatever it is. I perfect the craft of the business. I perfect the craft of whatever I'm saying. I perfect the craft later on along the way. But at least I'm going with speed and I'm getting out the door. If I'm not getting out the door and I'm not and I'm just waiting and waiting for the right opportunity or I'm waiting for the right, oh, it's not it's not perfect yet. I can't do this. Then I'm just losing either way. The most successful people in business, they're not the smartest. They're not smarter than you. A lot of times when you talk to these people who are millionaires or so, you you understand that they're not even smarter than you. But one thing they do do have an advantage over you is speed cuz they just put it out there. And you you're being self-conscious. So, working speed, we're able to work at speed off of the freehand. Um, compared to compared to the freehand, but yeah, you need to you need to work in speed. I kind of I think I had this in in reverse, but doubt here. I'm going to put this right here. So, speed speed is actually over here. That's fine. Speed is over here. Speed is right here for number seven for the projector. And then really, I'm gonna just cross this out. Really, number seven is doubt analysis by paralysis or paralysis by analysis. You're just going to be having doubt in your head. You're going to keep letting doubt eat out your day. You're going to waste your time. You're going to waste so much time because doubt is getting to you. And I see it all the time. I know what it looks like. All right? Look, this is what I do for a living. All right? Like I can actually say that this is this is this is what I do for a living. I know what it looks like. That's why I always suggest for people to have a one-on-one meeting with me so I can look into your store, but I can also see things cuz I see it from a distance. I can see it from a distance. I see everything. And doubt is eating your day. Doubt is eating your time. Stop having the doubt by trying to be whatever the freehand artist is or trying to bring the old world way of traditional way of creating art into your day. Stop it because you're just doubting yourself. You can't doubt yourself of being a creator when you're already a great creator. You're already a phenomenal person. Why are you doubting yourself? It's only eating away at your day. And then what happens is with doubt it be it becomes anxiety. And anxiety brings a mindset of scarcity which brings you at a lower frequency of mind of thinking. and then you're not going to generate the money. The money is not going to come to you. The opportunities aren't going to come to you because you're putting yourself in a mindset of scar. It's it's like the smell of desperation. The universe can smell it on you. And it's it it can also smell doubt and you not believing in yourself. All right.
So, this is what we have right here. This is the breakdown. This is the breakdown of the the whiteboard on uh freehand traditional art compared to having the confidence of using the projector.
