If your curly hair routine just isn't working, try this routine instead. Welcome back to the Marina Method. Today, I'm solving all your curly hair problems.
Try squeezing the extra water out of your hair before you style. If you have thinner, fine hair, you don't need a leave-in and a curl cream. You can pick one or the other.
If you have thicker, coarse hair, try raking or brushing your products all the way through, even the mousse or gel. If you're struggling with humidity, try products with silicones and protein, like this climate control line from Weabad.
If you want more volume without brush styling, just rake your hair up off the top of your head before you scrunch. If you want more shrinkage, do a little pulse with your hands at the top of your scrunch when you squeeze. At this point, there should be no frizz. So, if there is, add more water and product and brush it through again.
If your hair takes forever to dry, like mine does, try plopping. Basically, just put your hair up in a microfiber towel for like 10 or 15 minutes. And then when you take it down, add a little bit more gel or product to bring back the hold before you diffuse. This is going to make your drying time so much shorter.
If your curls are feeling kind of limp or you're not getting enough volume, definitely diffuse instead of air dry. And then, if you want to, you can use a hair oil to scrunch out the crunch. Or you can leave it crunchy. If you leave it crunchy on day one, it'll actually last longer throughout the week.
All the products I use are in my bio under curly hair.
