Hey everybody, Richard Tromans here again, artificial lawyer TV. Today we're doing another product walkthrough. This time we're looking at Opus 2 and we're looking at some of their new AI capabilities. To tell us more about it is Ingrid. Hey Ingrid. Hi. Hello Richard. Good morning. Good to have you on the show. Um, Ingrid will tell you a little bit perhaps at the beginning about how she and her colleagues have joined Opus 2 recently and then we'll get into the product walkthrough and I will come back at the end. But either way, Ingrid, please take it away.

Yeah. Well, thank you. I'm indeed one of the ehm people that recently joined Opus 2. I'm one of the co-founders of Uncover Legal, which is a fully AI focused startup which Opus 2 acquired in October of last year. And since then lots of things have happened including that the Opus team has done an incredible job of integrating a substantial part of the AI driven functionality of Uncover Legal into its product. So I'm very excited to show you what it looks like today. It's already up and running. We've had great first experiences of a lot of our customers already. So eh I'm keen on showing you it.

Ehm, what's important to know ehm and you can probably already see this on the screen is that sort of the Opus 2 platform, it's a case collaboration platform that Opus 2's been building for 15 years, is still sort of the trusted and well-known platform as everybody knows how to use it. AI technology included into that platform has been sort of more advanced and the AI ramp has been accelerated as a result of the Uncover acquisition. So really the case collaboration platform has now been supercharged with all great AI functionality and the difference I would say between Opus 2 including sort of the AI and the more general purpose AI driven tools is that Opus 2 obviously is very much engrained into the litigation workflows and what we notice from our customers from their first experiences is that you can do all sorts of great AI driven stuff in Opus 2 and actually iterate on them, collaborate on them and use them through the entire life cycle of a case. Whereas in some other tools, for example, you create a chronology, you save it, export it to Excel, new documents come in and then what? So the platform ehm that's highly configurable and quite detailed is still there. However, you can do lots of great things very easily with the AI additions that have been made.

If you see the same thing as I do, you see sort of the first screen that as a regular Opus 2 customer you're very used to seeing because this is the screen where you end up if you log in with all the cases in it. And if I open up a case, ehm what you see is the normal view which we now sort of call the detailed view. Ehm, and this is the view that has been known for years. Ehm and we have lots of customers that are using this year on year on year. For lawyers to get great AI insights very quickly, we've decided to give them another view as well which is called the focused view. En the focused view, if you click on it, you'll see eh it has a slightly different interface all built for very quick understanding and servicing of insights. What you can essentially do here is use three different AI assistants. So the first is the matter assistant, you have the document assistant and you have the general assistant and I will walk you through what you can do with all of those.

The matter assistant to me is the most wonderful assistant you can have. You can best think of it as a fully briefed colleague. So somebody that has read up all the documents that are uploaded to a matter and has known memorized the contents of it inside out. So you can use this assistant to just start asking questions without knowing which documents you're gna want to use to find the information. So to give a very quick example I can just say please just give me a brief explanation what is this litigation matter even about. You'll see that the AI will go through all the documents and use a combination of keyword search, vector search and then ingestion into LLM models to formulate an answer to this question. So here you see there's already an answer. It saves you a lot of time because you didn't have to go through all the documents. Ehm, you can obviously see the sources. I'll show you that later as well and click on these sources too. You can save conversations. Ehm, that kind of speaks for itself I would say and just continue the conversation.

However, what you can also do is for example if I have worked on an issues list and I have this whole list of issues which I've been building for months and I see one that's unsubstantiated. So there is no evidence. Before sort of two, I would need to go manually through all those documents and look for evidence that would support this issue and that would give me sort of an answer to whether a computers reasonably relied on a certain delivery date. However, I can also now just ask that to the matter assist. So without going through everything myself again I ask a question and I get the evidence. What's important to know for lawyers also the answer no there is no evidence in your data set is also very valuable one so it will also give you that answer if it's not there. What you can now do click on the sources so you'll see in total three sources were found and used to create this answer go here say add to worksheets issues and just select the actual issue. And now your issue is substantiated by the fact save. So that's a very convenient way to use sort of the old trusted ehm functionality but then sort of expediate the process using AI to extract all the relevant information.

Ehm, another thing that we've built ehm is the prompt builder. Ehm, there is a lot to do about prompting amongst lawyers and ehm prompting obviously is very important to do well because it's essentially the question that you ask the AI to answer and the more detailed and the more accurate the question is the more guidance the AI will also have to give you correct answers. Ehm, so for example what you can also do say you're going to be cross-examining a witness and you first want to see in the detailed view all the documents that that witness has been referred in. So I'll use the good old friend keyword search here. I'll select everything let me see. Add them to the collection. Sender scrolls apply oké then I go back to focus view and I'm gonna use the prompt builder and I'm just gonna give it a very simple task so I'll just say the following I'll paste this here on the right hand side and I'll say I'll be cross-examining Sally send Sanders at a trial prepare a detailed cross-examination outline. So what will happen if I now present? The AI will not answer this question. However, it will take the question and rephrase it into a very detailed prompt which I can then use to have that question answered. So this is a prompt that I should be using instead of that one sentence that I just ehm typed. Be this prompt. Ehm, I'll go here. This is the place where I can grab a subset of documents here for example in the collections senders cross-examination I'll just select all of them apply and now I'm gna be asking about those 29 selected prompts that I know contain information about Sally senders I press enter so I pasted the prompt into the conversation and now if all goes well I'll get a good cross-examination outline. This is a good example of us wanting to give lawyers the tools to very quickly sort of build their prompts. Ehm, it's also possible to save a prompt if you have a good one and also to store your prompts based on categories that you design yourself. So those you can find back under my prompts. Some things that we also did is for sort of the more well-known practice areas eh we created a couple prompts. So those you can also find here. So what we try to do here is we really try to focus bring focus for lawyers to really you know dig into their case do their jobs and focus on the legal content and for us to worry about how do you service the information that you need for that best. So amongst other things, what are the best practices for prompting and how can we help you with that? Do to know we also offer some additional training if you would like to better understand and learn how to do it. But the idea is you focus on what you need to do, we focus on what we need to do.

So this was another example of the matter assist. So that's the ehm assistant you use to query all the information that's in a matter or to query a large subset of documents. Then you have the documents assist. The documents assist works differently. Ehm, it allows the user to select only a couple documents eh because it sends the content of the entire document to the LLM. So it's better used for tasks where you know which documents you're gna need to pull information from. And also if you're looking for very detailed, very specific information then you use the document assist. Ehm, what you can do for example is here again you use the same button to select documents and I am sure everybody recognizes this if you receive a lot of documents from your customer or through relativity or through DD or whatever and you upload them to the system many documents always have really weird titles and there is no way of telling what's inside of them just by looking at them similar as for example these ones. What I will do here is I'll select them, apply them and I'll just say give me the document title and specify the type of document for each of these. Very simple exercise that will otherwise take you a lot of time because you would need to open and close all those various documents and go through everything manually. This however gives you great insights into what am I actually looking at. Now what you can also do is just copy paste this and ask your assistant to rename everything or ask the general assist draft an email to do that but you can also save the information again.

Maybe about the general assistant that's the last assistant that we've integrated ehm whereas the other two so the matter assist and the documents assist take the documents in a matter as the data set that it pulls general assist body of it lets use sort of all the knowledge in the LLM and make sure that you can ask all sorts of questions that have nothing to do with the matter itself to an LLM. So we've just tried to make it very easy for you and not have you sort of switch between different AI tools. So you can also use this for other purposes. So for example let's say you're paralegal you're preparing for trial again and you want a checklist of what you need to prepare for. So I'll just say prepare a trial checklist. You can get that information here as well. The big benefit of this assistant is you can also input confidential information in it because it's all safe to use. So other than eh some tools which you definitely shouldn't use to query about confidential information here you can safely do that. So if you need information about parties in your dispute or something else you can also look it up here. This is then for an example that you would get maybe for the last minute ehm all the answers that are given by all the different assistants eh you can ask for changes very easily. You can write them to as well but you can also do it here quickly. You can copy paste the output. You can have it translated in other languages that you'd like and we always love to know what you think about the functionality. For the user, you go back to the original view, the detailed view, just by clicking on the buttons. And you can really use sort of the focused view, the AI driven functionality to get all the information that you need to really work and ehm eh further expand on all the things that you've been doing in sort of the detailed view during course of your litigation. Thank you.

Fantastic. Thanks Ingrid and a lot there. And of course if you do want to know more about this and all the other features available, please get in contact with the team which leads me to a couple of practical questions such as if you're looking at this and you would like to bring this into your firm or your in-house team or whatever it is. In how would you bring this in? How does this get onto your desktop?

Well, if you're an existing customer ehm and you don't have AI yet in your subscription, you can indeed upgrade to AI and that will give you access to all these features. As a new customer, you can always eh ask for sort of the functionality including AI. Ehm, important for existing customers is that all the documents that have already been uploaded to the cases platform will be factorized will be sort of you know prepared in such a manner that the AI can do their its work on it. So you can use it on all your matters. There is no sort of new data set that you need to build. And so that's very convenient for our existing ones. For new ones as of ingestion of documents this functionality is readily available to use.

Fantastic. And just last question just another practical question if people are like to know how they pay for this is it is it per seat is there a kind of data aspect how how does that work?

So it's a subscription. We do have a data aspect but that's more around sort of a fair use policy that we need to maintain just to make sure that all the sayability amongst users with regard to the number of input tokens and sort of the heavy AI users is somewhat eh sort of agreed upon but essentially it's a price per seat.

Fantastic fantastic and as mentioned if you'd like to know more please get in contact with del to from you and for to what do next than you thank you bye Ik
