In the English countryside, three friends are smoking in the car while watching a house in the distance. [music]
At the door, Dr. Richard is saying goodbye to some patients. Terry assures his friends that Richard takes his wife out for dinner every Friday so they can rob the house when they're gone.
While the guys wait, they're approached by Mary, who scolds her boyfriend, Nathan, for taking her car since she needs it to go to work. An argument ensues, but they're interrupted when Terry sees the couple finally leaving the house. Nathan immediately drives to the front of the house, and Mary follows them on her bicycle. When she gets a call from work, Nathan assures her that they'll be done in 20 minutes, so Mary promises her boss to be there in an hour.
After Mary agrees to wait outside, the guys then jump over the fence, but Terry doesn't have a smooth landing and is now limping. [music] GZ breaks the glass on the door, and Terry scolds him, revealing there's a hidden key in a flower pot. [music]
Once inside, Gaz asks where the safe is, but Terry has no idea. His mother works as a cleaner in the house and shared a few details about the house, but not the location of [music] the safe. Fay, furious. Gaz opens the broom cupboard and throws things around as a tantrum. So, Terry quickly puts it all back into place. However, Gaz keeps throwing and breaking things in other rooms, too. Terry gets [music] frustrated because they promise they wouldn't cause any damage, and Nathan distracts him by pointing out that he's lost one of his earrings. G steals medicine from the doctor's cabinet and jewelry from the wife's room. He also destroys some dollhouses in a room labeled Kate. Nathan takes food from the fridge while Terry goes down to the basement where he finally finds the safe. He calls his friends only for Gaz to get angry again. Car's mom told him that the safe has an electronic code, so Gaz brought tools for that, but the safe actually has a dial lock and none of them knows how to crack it.
Outside, Mary is getting tired of waiting and starts honking the horn. She can't leave because Gaz has the keys, so she tries calling Nathan, but he's ignoring his phone. In the basement, Nathan tries to open the safe with a drill and then with a hammer, but nothing works. Terry uses a stethoscope while turning the dial lock to no avail either. [music]
Nathan finally takes Mary's call, and she tells him that she has to leave, so he hangs up. Carrie agrees that they should leave, [music] causing Nathan to freak out. Gaz then comes up with an idea. They'll wait for the owners to come back and force them to tell them the safe code.
When Mary calls again, Nathan declines it. It's already dark outside and Mary keeps getting calls [music] from work. She continues to honk the horn and yell Nathan's name, but he ignores her while watching TV with Gaz. Terry volunteers to drive her. However, Gaz doesn't let him because he thinks he's trying [music] to escape. Eventually, Nathan gets tired of all the screaming, so he goes to the door and tells Mary he only needs five more minutes, convincing her to come inside. After taking her phone, he pushes her onto the table and they start getting frisky.
While looking around, guess finds a picture of a young girl. [music] Carrie explains that the owner's daughter, Kate, who died a long time ago. The naughty moment on the table is interrupted when Mary tells Nathan that she's pregnant. However, Nathan isn't bothered because he thinks the [music] money they get from this robbery will be enough to raise a child.
Suddenly, they hear a noise outside and realize that the owners are back. The guys cover their heads with stockings and force Mary to do the same. As soon as the couple comes inside, Nathan and Gaz attack them. In the struggle, Ellen falls and the pieces of a broken vase cut [music] her hand. Richard tries to help her, but the guys managed to overpower the couple and take them to the living room. A desperate Richard tells them that they can take anything they want, but they should at least let him take care of Ellen's injury.
Mary brings the first aid kit and a glass of water for Ellen. Then, she cleans and bandages the wound following Richard's instructions. G throws some stockings [music] and forces Mary to tie Ellen's hands. When Gaz asks about the money, Richard lets him have his wallet and mentions some cash hidden in the kitchen, which Terry goes to pick up. The guys then ask about the safe and Richard pretends there isn't one, so the couple is dragged to the basement. Mary disapproves of this whole plan, and Nathan tells her to deal with it because he's doing it for the baby.
Nathan repeatedly yells at Richard to ask for the combination, but Richard just criticizes his behavior, so Nathan slaps him. Gaz puts his cigarette too close to Ellen's face, but Nathan stops him before he can burn her. Then Gaz gives Nathan a box cutter and tells him to hurt Richard until he gives them the combination. Mary finally has enough and goes upstairs. So Gaz [music] follows her.
After taking off the stockings, Mary grabs the landline and hides in the bathroom to call the emergency service. [music] Unfortunately, Gaz kicks the door open and grabs Mary by the hair to drag her out. After kicking the phone outlet, Gaz uses [music] his stockings to tie Mary's hands and smashes her head on a mirror, accusing her of wanting to trap Nathan with a baby.
In the basement, [music] the guys hear all the screaming and Richard tells them that they shouldn't let Gaz manipulate them. He also calls Nathan and Terry by their names, revealing he was their doctor when they were kids. Richard knows their families and watched them grow up as close friends, but he thinks that an outsider like Gaz is ruining their lives. Nathan snaps and yells at him again, but Terry takes off the stockings and agrees with Richard, saying they should leave. An angry Nathan pushes him against the wall, and after taking the stockings off too, he tells his friend to keep his mouth shut.
At that moment, Gaz comes back with Mary and tells the others that she tried to call the police. Nathan points the box cutter at Ellen's neck and asks for the code. Since Richard doesn't react, Gaz whispers something into Nathan's ear, causing him to threaten to cut Ellen's finger. Since Richard still refuses to cooperate, Gaz pulls out a gun and points it at Richard while telling Nathan to cut the finger. After some hesitation, Nathan steps back and tells Gaz to do it himself. An argument ensues and Gaz points the gun at Nathan, forcing him to do the cutting. Nathan begs Richard for the code as he starts slashing Ellen's finger, but at the last second, he turns around and slashes Gaz's arm instead, causing him to drop the gun. [music]
Gaz grabs Nathan to headbutt him. Then they fall to the floor as they start fighting. Nathan tries to stab Gaz with the box cutter. However, Gaz overpowers him and stabs him first. Richard asks to be untied so he can help Nathan, but Gaz mocks him while bandaging his arm with a rag and some tape. He threatens to let Nathan die unless the doctor gives him the code. So, Richard finally tells him the numbers. While Gaz tries the code on the safe, Richard makes gestures at Terry to ask for help, but Terry is having a breakdown. [music]
Soon, Gaz realizes he was given a fake code, so Richard pretends he got 21 and 22 mixed and tells him to try again. While Gaz [music] is busy, Mary starts working on getting rid of her restraints. This other code turns out to be incorrect, too. So, Gaz ties Ellen to a wooden beam using tape. Then, he turns on an electric saw and tries to attack her, only to discover the cable isn't long enough. While he moves it to another outlet, Mary finally finishes freeing herself and strikes [music] Gaz on the head with a hammer, instantly killing him.
Afterward, Mary frees Richard and notices that the basement is attached to the garage. There's a van there, so she wants to move Nathan to take him to the hospital. However, Richard takes out a hidden gun and announces that nobody is leaving. Mary is terrified until Richard explains himself. The hospital is too far away and Nathan won't survive the journey, so he'll treat him while they wait for help. While Terry and Mary take Nathan upstairs, Richard grabs the car keys from Gaz's body and frees his wife.
In the doctor's office, Richard [music] takes care of Ellen's finger first, and she says that the gang got what they deserved. Then, Richard removes the blade from Nathan's body and has to use forceps to remove a piece stuck [music] inside the wound. He explains the blade missed vital organs so Nathan has a good chance to survive. Since Richard needs space to work, [music] he asks Ellen, Mary, and Terry to wait outside.
While Ellen starts cleaning up, Mary has a breakdown. Terry comforts her, only to suddenly call her beautiful and try to kiss her. Mary immediately pulls away [music] and scolds him for telling the others about the safe. She also thinks Terry would have abandoned Nathan if she hadn't been there. She starts dropping a bunch of insults, pointing out that her twin sister, Jane, left because Terry's a joke and she never really loved him.
Afterward, Mary goes to the living room and tries to open a mysterious box, but Ellen stops her. Next, Mary tries to enter the doctor's office, and Richard says she [music] shouldn't, but she pushes her way in anyway. Nathan is sleeping, and Richard explains that he had to sedate him while he got the stitches. [music] Mary touches Nathan's body and thinks it's too cold, but Richard assures her that it's normal. Then, he goes to the landline and calls for an ambulance. However, Mary notices that the outlet is broken, which means Richard is lying. [music]
Suddenly, Mary feels sick and throws up in the sink. Richard says he has medicine to help her. And when he turns around, Mary searches Nathan's pockets for her phone, but they're empty. When Richard brings her the medicine, Mary ignores him and returns to the living room where she finds Ellen giving Terry an injection for his limp. A terrified Mary tries to leave. However, all the doors are locked. Ellen appears behind her and yells at her for not taking her shoes off, calling her Kate before slapping her. [music]
Richard rushes to calm Ellen down, revealing she has a memory disorder. While Richard takes Ellen away, Mary looks for Terry and finds him happily having a snack and [music] watching TV. She tells him they need to go and asks for his phone, but he says he gave it to Ellen. Mary starts scolding him, but they're interrupted by the elderly couple who invite them to have tea with them. A tired Mary wants to smoke, however, Ellen won't allow it. So, she says she'll smoke outside and tries to open another door, but this one is also locked.
Richard makes Mary sit down by describing all the horrible things that can happen to an unborn baby. When a nasty bug appears on the table, Ellen kills it with her hand. Then, Richard shows them a picture of their dead daughter, Kate, sharing stories of her childhood. Ellen is about to drink her tea, but Richard stops her and exchanges her cup for Mary's. Afterward, Richard pulls out a scrapbook that Ellen made to collect all the newspaper articles about the teenage girls who have disappeared in the area, including Mary's twin sister, Jane. He claims that the scrapbook is a tribute to them.
When Terry is about to drink his milk, Mary stops him and asks Richard for her phone. Richard pretends he doesn't know what she means, so she yells at him as she lists all the things he's lied about. When the couple tells her to calm down and drink her tea. A furious Mary pushes everything off the table and grabs a knife, asking them to open the door. Richard reaches for her hand and easily disarms her. Then he drags her by the hair to the cupboard under the stairs and locks her up. He asks Terry to keep an eye on her while he puts Ellen to bed. Mary keeps banging on the door and begging her friend to let her out. [music] Terry yells at her for dating Nathan, saying he doesn't love her and just uses her. A crying Mary tells him that Nathan is dead, but Terry [music] ignores her.
In the bedroom, Ellen has a breakdown and insists that Mary needs punishment. Richard says he'll do it, but Ellen convinces him that she can help. At that moment, Terry notices that his legs have gone numb and thinks Ellen accidentally gave him too much medicine. [music] Mary insults him for not wanting to accept that Ellen did it on purpose, causing Terry to snap and yell at her before collapsing in tears. When Mary apologizes and asks him to work together, Terry misunderstands [music] together as in a couple and starts talking to her as if she were Jane.
A desperate Mary plays along, and Terry opens the door, thinking he'll see his old girlfriend again, but Mary just rushes to get the knife and go upstairs. With the help of a cane, Terry [music] manages to walk very slowly and takes a look at Nathan by spying through the keyhole. His friend isn't moving and a terrified Terry walks away while telling himself that Nathan is just sleeping. Then he goes upstairs and enters Kate's room where she finds Mary putting a bunch of tied bed sheets on the window. Terry still thinks she's Jane and accuses her of abandoning him, but Mary swears she was about to get him so they could escape together. When Terry tries to kiss her, she steps back and they fall on the bed, so she uses the chance to push him off.
Suddenly, a gas can is thrown into the room and a metal sheet comes down to block the window. Mary helps Terry leave the room and they struggle to breathe. As they make their way downstairs, noticing that all the windows are getting blocked and finding smoke everywhere. Terry trips and rolls down the stairs, so Mary runs to help him. He insists they must help the elderly couple too, clearly still in denial. At that moment, Ellen runs into the living room, so Mary follows her as she blindly waves her knife around. Ellen keeps sneaking behind her and manages to whip her multiple times, even breaking a vase on her back. When Mary falls, Ellen whips her again. [music]
Now that she's close enough, Mary brings her down by throwing a vase at her. Then Mary steals her mask and puts it on, only for Ellen to stab her arm with an injection while Richard drags Terry away. [music] Mary takes Ellen to the kitchen and ties her to the oven. She repeatedly slaps her while demanding to know what was in the syringe. And Ellen's teeth fall off as she laughs. Suddenly, Richard appears behind Mary and removes the mask before he starts choking her. Mary bites his hand and kicks him in the groin before grabbing the mask again. However, Richard breaks a plate on her head. Then Mary retaliates by hitting him with a pan and pushing him out of the kitchen, catching his hand on the door. She slams it over and over until he loses a finger. Unfortunately, Richard breaks the door window and takes the mask from Mary, who rushes to push the table against the door to block it. She grabs a knife and threatens to kill Ellen as she starts feeling dizzy because of the injection. Richard promises he'll bring Terry and the keys, but [music] wants proof that Ellen is alive, so he sings to make her sing, too.
Terry and the keys are dropped outside the kitchen [music] door, so Mary brings them in and finally opens the basement door. She drags Terry downstairs and pushes his body into the back of the van before jumping into the driver's seat. When she opens the garage door, she finds Ellen and Richard blocking the way. She starts the van with the intention of running over them, but at that moment, Terry shoots her with the gun Richard gave him. While Mary slowly bleeds to [music] death, Richard mocks her for not behaving. Then he and Ellen put Terry in a wheelchair and announce that he deserves a reward.
Richard proceeds to finally open the safe, only to reveal it's actually a door to a secret bunker. [music] Inside, Jane is chained to a bed. It turns out that after Kate's death, Alan and Richard have been kidnapping girls to replace their daughter. They made them wear Kate's clothes and call them by Kate's name. If a girl didn't cooperate, [music] she was killed and replaced with another one. Jane was the last one because she's been behaving. As a reward for helping the couple, Terry, is locked up in the bunker with Jane.
A week later, Terry's mother, Jean, finishes cleaning the house without suspecting anything. She doesn't see her son's earring on the floor because she steps on it. In the garden, the couple is planting new bushes to hide the buried bodies. On her way out, Gene tells her bosses that she's been worried because her son is [music] missing. Alan and Richard tell her not worry because youngsters just like to run away sometimes.
