When somebody doesn't value your words, or they're always trying to manipulate or twist what you say, some of us tend to start explaining ourselves so that we're understood. But sometimes when we explain ourselves to somebody who's like that, they don't care to understand us. That doesn't mean that our value changes.
Sometimes when we're somebody like that, that language is on purpose to make us feel diminished, to make us feel like our words don't hold value, to make us feel unworthy. That doesn't make us unworthy, though. Just because somebody is pushing in that direction does not change our worth and our value.
And sometimes if we overexplain to the wrong person, then they turn around and use that against us cuz they can see that we're maybe struggling with being heard or struggling. They can see that maybe we're struggling with being heard or struggling with speaking our speaking the truth from our own voice, from our own mouth.
Just like we don't need to explain ourselves, sometimes we actually shut down because when we have explained ourselves, it turns into a bigger thing. So, it's okay to be quiet. It's okay to say the truth and then be quiet and peaceful and let it land where it lands. We don't get to control the outcome from somebody else, somebody's response, but we do get to control how much we contribute to that conversation.
This is where you can use Irene. You can put a conversation into Irene. Let's say you just remember your conversation, you want to put the back and forth, plug it into Irene and she will tell you, "This is how you should respond in this situation." Because sometimes when we've been in abuse long enough, we forget how to communicate in a healthy way. So, Irene will help you relearn how to communicate in a way that you're heard and that you're respected with your words.
