So, the real meaning of Plato's Cave has been completely lost, but I think I figured out what it actually is. It's nothing to do with society. It has to do with you and your soul.
So, Plato's Cave is the allegory of the prisoners who mistake the shadow on the wall for the real reality, and they unknowingly are prisoners. But, the real reality is up here, and the people who escaped the cave see the real reality and go back down to try and wake them up. But, they say they are crazy.
So, what this is actually pointing to is how reality truly works. You don't see reality directly. You see your mind's interpretation of it. You are the observer, the soul living inside the mind, observing reality through the mind and mistaking yourself for the body and the external world, just like the prisoners mistake the real reality for the shadows on the wall.
Most people think they are the body. They are their mental framework. But, when they go out cave, it symbolizes going inside yourself and seeing the real reality, the true self. Not mistaking yourself for the shadow, but recognizing you are the light casting the shadow, the observer, the soul that dwells within, the divine spark.
So, most people are lost in their material reality, not realizing the divinity that is inside of them.
