Mothers are very key, very, very key to God's agenda here on earth. And that is why, as a church, the mothers have always, from the beginning, from the time of our Lord Jesus Christ, they have always played a very, very supportive role in building up the kingdom of God and joining hands to advance God's program and ministry. For every time and season, they were there for our Lord Jesus Christ, including his own biological mother. And from that time to now, mothers, women have continued to play this role to the glory of God.
So, one more time, please join, jam your hands together as we celebrate [Applause] our mothers. And if you know that God has particularly blessed you with a very good mother, let your own clapper friend be the loudest with a joyful noise [Applause] to back it up. Amen.
I know the spirit of God will deliberately ensure certain things are mentioned. And as we were clapping, the spirit of God reminded me that I should also put it across that some wives have become mothers. They are wives that are also mothers to their husband. She is no longer just the wife of the man, she is practically the mother of the man. And that is one of the ultimate levels a good wife can operate within, where you have become so much of a support and blessing to your husband that you now become even mother to him. And within the process of time, he will begin to acknowledge it and tell his friends and tell his his family that you are not just his wife, that you are his mother. And for all our dear wives who are also playing this role to their husbands, the Lord will bless you richly in Jesus' name.
So, I shared this morning on how God expects you to relate with your mother. How God expects you to relate with your mother. We're taking our text from Proverbs chapter 31, verse 10 to 31. Proverbs chapter 31, verse 10 to 31. I will be reading from the Easy to Read version, and it says, "How hard it is to find the perfect wife." How hard it is to find the perfect wife. And I want to plead with those our women to always remember one of the primary purposes of the church. The church is a school where we learn not just the things of faith and the things that has to do with the spiritual, but virtually every valuable information in every realm of life. The church also, especially in this end times, is the last hope for the molding of the lives, character, behavior, and attitude, mindset of people in any given community [Music].
We want to thank God that in this end times, fortunately, technology has also made it possible for the message from the church to go online and electronically to every part of the world. So that widens the scope of the audience. One of the primary assignments of the church is to consistently teach, train, and groom our daughters and our women to become the kind of wife and mother that the Lord wants them to ultimately become. And we have found out that once you have a teachable spirit and you always have an open heart to the every message, teaching, sermon coming from the church and from God's messengers to you, the grace to put to practice that which you hear will always be released along with the word that is coming.
The Bible tells us here, it says, "How hard it is to find a perfect wife." It takes a lot of work. It takes a lot of teaching. It takes a lot of grooming. It takes a lot of training to be able to mold the character of a young lady, a young girl, the character of a woman. And you know where the church has a bigger responsibility than even parents, because in church, we are going to have, and we will always have, people turning to Christ at old age, not as young adults, not as children, not as teenagers. And some of them have been exposed to all sorts in the world. And here they are now in Christ. So the church has a responsibility to teach, to train, to encourage, motivate, and positively influence such women that are now turned to Christ to begin to manifest the right mindset, the right have the right principles, have the right values, embrace every scope of morality, and then begin to manifest the right attitude, the right behavior, manners in every realm of life and a relationship with all kinds of people.
So, it's a big walk. And the Bible says, right from the old entire on the days until now, it is not an easy thing to find a perfect wife. King James version would say, "the virtuous woman." A virtuous wife, he said, she's worth far more than jewels. Among other things, it reveals to you that you are far more valuable than what you have physically. There is something in you that you are not yet aware of. And it can be dangerous when the enemy knows your value better than yourself.
Mother's Day is a day to celebrate and appreciate those who have played the role of a mother in our lives. Wherever they are, they may not be in the exact location where you are today, but on a day like this, you must reach out to them. It's a day to recognize them. It's a day to acknowledge who they are in your life [Music].
And I've always given one illustration, one example, that is not just about a biological mother, certainly not, far, far beyond that. Because, for instance, a woman called Ruth in the Holy Bible had a mother figure that coincidentally was actually a mother-in-law. But this mother-in-law became a mother to her. She truly deeply loved her as her own child and was there for her even after she lost her son, she lost her husband. So if Ruth was every time Ruth was on the surface of the earth and she had, and mothers had to be celebrated, one person that Ruth would have celebrated first was Naomi, her mother-in-law. So let's also, one more time, let's celebrate mothers-in-law and all those who are not biological mothers, but our mothers indeed. Some big sisters, some female ministers of God, some female mentors playing the role of a mother to so many people. Hallelujah.
In Proverbs 31, verse 10, he says, "How hard it is to find the perfect wife. She's worth far more than jewels." Now, I want you to please take note that it is intentional. It is deliberate when the Bible, when in the Holy Bible, is celebrating this role model of a mother [Music]. The marital aspect of our life is deliberately and intentionally amplified in the narrative [Music].
The church of God, the kingdom of God, is supposed to be a community of families. People from different homes, different families coming together. It was God and not man that kick-started the marriage institution. The marriage institution and the family is absolutely key in the structure, in God's structure, in the building of his kingdom here on earth. On the reverse, the enemy's agenda to destroy, to cause damage here on earth, and also to the kingdom of God, is primarily targeted at marriages and the family. So we need to always have this in mind. What the devil wants is a situation where very soon, all that will be celebrated will be mothers, and no comments will be made about mothers also in the role of a wife to a husband and to the father of the family. And so there is so much attack against the marriage institution. And this is has always been coordinated and is being championed and spearheaded by the Jezebel spirit. It receives the man's handshape of a family, and their own theory is that women can advance in life and do not need a husband, neither do their children need a father figure. This is contrary to the will and the plan of God.
From time to time, in this narrative of the role model of a mother, the Holy Spirit intentionally made reference to her husband. So ideally, when we are celebrating Mother's Day in the church, not in the secular world, in the larger society, but in the church, it's also a day to highlight those mothers that have equally been excelling as good wives to their husbands. That is why Proverbs 31 talks about this woman, both from the perspective of a mother and the perspective of a wife.
What are the attributes of a mother? A mother is someone with a heart of a nurse. Someone with a heart of a nurse. One of the discoveries I have made through observation is that it is impossible for someone to genuinely love you and the person will have no concern about your health. One of the most reliable indicators whether or not someone has some measure of love for you or not is the person's attitude and feelings towards you when it has to do with issues of your health. When a husband doesn't care about the health of his wife, that man doesn't love his wife. When a father or a mother is having health issues and some of the children never call to find out how he or she is doing and take steps to find a solution to the parent's health issue, such children do not sincerely love their parent. If someone has been telling you he loves you or she loves you, and you observe that the person never cares anytime you happen to have a health issue, and the person is never interested in assisting to find a solution to a health issue you may have, you have just find someone that is not is not sincerely in love with you. And one of those strengths of every godly mother is that God will bless them with a with the heart of a nurse.
A mother is a is someone with a heart of a nurse, compassionate, caring, a life preserver, a comforter, a solution finder. She would do this for her children. She would do this for her husband. She would do this for her loved ones and friends. A solution finder. And sometimes unsolicited, the moment they know that there is a problem and they know the problem, they would do all they can to assist in finding a solution.
A mother is watchful. A mother is watchful. In Proverbs chapter 31, verse 20, it says, "She always gives to the poor and helps those he need who need it." She's caring, she's compassionate, she's kind. A mother will place your interest as a child and your future above her needs. That is why a mother can sacrifice so much to ensure you go to school. It's about your future, securing your future.
A mother is overprotective. A mother will go the extra mile to protect the life of the child. And you know, in the last three weeks, we were talking about when you have a revelation or a strong intuition that something is wrong. Now, take note of this: women are naturally wired by God to have a more sensitive ability when it comes to the human intuition. So most things that the husband, the father may not discern, many times men walk with what they see and the things they hear, but women are more discerning by this gift of a very sensitive intuition that God gives them. With and they are able to discern deception, most times better than the husband and the father of the home. They are is they are better in discerning deception, manipulations. They can recognize when something is not right, even though it has been packaged to appear to be perfect [Music]. And every mother will use this ability in protecting her children. They are custodians and protectors of your destiny, your inheritance.
The mother of Samson had a role to play in the destiny of Samson right from the days of conception. To show you how important the mother is in God's operations, plan, and purpose for the destiny of Samson to be fulfilled, certain things have to be done right from the days of conception in her in his mother's womb. There were certain things she was to do, and there were some things she was not to do. Even in the days of conception of Samson. We saw how Bathsheba took steps to protect and deliver what had been promised by God to Solomon, to her son, Solomon, to him. When the time came, it was God that told David that Solomon, his son, would be the one to succeed him. And of course, David told Solomon's mother, Bathsheba, and he told his key prophets and his key officers. Well, as David aged and in the process of time, someone, one of the other children, tried to unstop that which God had ordained for Solomon. And this was where Bathsheba, at the point in time, quickly rose up to ensure that what was due to her son was not snatched by another person. That is the role of a mother.
In Proverbs chapter 22, verse 6, King James version, he says, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Mothers have a big role to play in this divine arrangement for the molding, nurturing of the character of every child that God blesses a family with. So mothers play a most sensitive role in the most delicate phase of our lives. They mold and influence your character. They mold and influence your moral values. They influence your actions. They influence your success. They influence your fulfillment, the fulfillment of your potentials. And you know, to a large estimate, the children will hear the right things possibly from school. They will hear the right things also from church. But from time to time, the children would also listen to their mother's opinion on the various things they have had. So a child is going to a good school, child is hearing the good things in church, by the time that child also hears the same from his or her mother, then the work will be established in the heart of that child. Praise hear the Lord.
In John chapter 2, verse 3 to 5, at the wedding in Cana, the Bible says, "At the wedding, there was not enough wine." So Jesus' mother said to him, "They have no more wine." Jesus answered, "Dear woman, why are you telling me this? It is not your time for me to begin my work." But his mother could discern that finally, the time had come. So the mother said to the servants, "Do what he tells you." King James version will say, "Whatsoever he tells you, do it." She could discern the times. She could discern that the years of preparation were finally over, and the time for manifestation and ministry had finally come. Such is the role of a mother.
In Proverbs chapter 31, verse 27, it says, "She carefully watches all that goes on in her household." In her household, she carefully watches all that goes on. Most times, even from the ancient times, this would not necessarily be the function of the father, because he's expected to go out, work, and generate resources to take care of the family. So one of those principal responsibilities of the mother and the wife is to ensure that all is well, that in the physical absence of the father of the house, nothing is secretly going wrong. She carefully watches all that goes on in her household. And that is why, even when someone in the house is not complaining of health issues, most of the time, it is the mother that decides that this, it looks like this person is not feeling fine. It looks like this person is not well.
And what our duties towards our mothers? One is obedience. Deuteronomy 21, verse 18 to 19. Number two is provision. John 19, verse 25 to 27. You could see our Lord Jesus Christ setting the example when he was about to go, he handed over his biological mother to one of the three disciples that he trusted most and we are the closest to him. Number three is protection. We have a responsibility to protect our mothers. And number four is honor. Ephesians chapter 6, verse 2. He said, "Honor thy father and mother." So we also want to use this opportunity to appreciate so many who are listening to this message who have been doing the right thing in honoring, supporting, and caring for our for their mothers. And I want to reassure you that that special promise of God to specially bless you and grant you long life will be your portion in Jesus' name. You.
