I'm going to show you three essential waterfed pole window cleaning techniques that you might use in different situations.
Now, the first one I'm going to show you, you probably use on your regular maintenance window cleaning. Uh you start by cleaning out the tops of the window frames. Like to give them a good clean, ready for the rinse later. So, give a good clean across the top, down the sides of the frames. Get all the frames nice and clean and then concentrate on the glass. Really work those bristles into the corners of the glass. Working from the top in a V motion up and down all the way down the window. Making sure you work those bristles into the corners at the bottom. Then give it a good thorough rinse all the way from the top of the frame there all the way down getting a good stream or a good curtain of water coming all the way down the window. Make sure it's had a good rinse. And then at the end, I always give the window seals a good clean as well. Um, make sure that they're nice and clean and reduce the amount of standing water on the window seal.
Now, the second slightly different method I want to show you is if you're a bit late round to your regular customers. Maybe a customer is meant to be done every month, but you're delayed for some reason and they're a bit dirtier than usual. So, for windows like this, what I'll do is I'll approach it and I'll wet the entire window with the water. Make sure the whole of the window gets wet. So, all that dirt that's a bit more stubborn has had a few moments to soak before you really start cleaning. So, I'll wet the entire window first and then I'll go back and start on the frames as I did before, making sure I clean out the top of the frame, round the sides of the frames, and then start cleaning the glass. Now, I'll clean the glass from top to bottom again, making sure I work into the corners in an up and down motion all the way to the bottom. But then, I'll go back over it a second time. This time, instead of up and down, I'll go from side to side. So the whole glass has had a good thorough scrub in two directions all the way from top to bottom. So then once I've done that, I'll go back give it a good thorough rinse. Sometimes on these cleans you'll use a bit more water than you did before if they're a bit dirtier than the regular cleans or maybe even if it's a first clean especially need a good thorough rinse. Um so make sure it rinse all the way down from top to bottom and then give the window seal a good clean at the end.
Now, the third technique I want to show you is maybe you have a limited water supply and you want to save a bit of water or maybe you want to squeeze in the last few windows or a last job at the end of the day and you've got a limited amount of water or your water's running out. Uh so this is a good technique for that. Now, for this technique, you'll need a univalve. This pole has got a unival fitted and that will allow you to just tug the hose switching the water on and off. you can really control the water while you're working. So, what I'll do when I get to the window, I'll wet up the whole window with the water. Give it all a good soak. Then I'll switch off the water, tugging the hose in order to switch off the water. And then I'll give the whole window a good scrub uh with the brush. Give the whole window a good scrub from top to bottom with the brush. Working around the frames first of all, same as we did before, and then working into the glass. And then once the whole thing's had a good scrub, switch the water on again by tugging the hose and then give it a good rinse from top to bottom. That will hopefully help you save a little bit of water so that you can get those last few windows cleaned at the end of the day.
