Hello my dear friends, you're in the military of a summary channel, and today we will discuss the situation in Ukraine on the 25th of August of 2025. Today we have a lot of very interesting updates. So let's start.
And first, we're going to discuss several important political updates regarding Ukraine. The most important, most likely, is coming from Poland. Poland will stop paying for Starling for Ukraine due to President Narovski's veto on the law providing aid to Ukrainian refugees. This is very important because, according to this piece of news, Ukraine is about to lose Starling. Obviously, they will not lose Starling. The question is, who is going to pay for Poland for this? If Poland is not going to pay for Starling, then who is going to do this?
At the same time, we got a very interesting update from the territory of Ukraine, more precisely about Ukraine-Canada relations. Ukraine and Canada have signed an action plan for cooperation in the fields of security. It covers military training, cybersecurity, intelligence sharing, and counterterrorism. Maybe Canada will start paying for, uh, Starling for Zelensky. Who knows? But obviously, uh, there are very high chances that at the moment when Poland will stop paying for Starling, and at the moment when Starling will be turned off completely for Ukraine, we will not see the next sponsor of it. Obviously, the Russians will use the situation, and they can launch another offensive operation that can lead to additional problems on the ground for the armored forces of Ukraine.
Now let's discuss the situation on the ground. We have some changes, and first, let's talk about the Sumy direction. During the past 24 hours, the armored forces of the Russian Federation published this video from the area of the village by the name of Bysalovka. In this video, we can see how Russians were bombing Ukrainian positions on the territory of the forest in the vicinity of the settlement. Based on this video, we have adjusted the map. I would like to remind you that these territories used to be considered as territories under complete Russian control because, probably a month or two ago, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation reported about complete control over the settlement. Now we see that Ukrainians most likely managed to counterattack and restore positions in this area. Ukrainians most likely will continue their counteroffensive operation.
Now let's move further and let's discuss the situation in the Kharkiv direction. The most important, the most interesting updates are coming from Kupiansk, from the city of Kupiansk. During the first 24 hours, uh, additional details were added to the map. I would like to remind you that, uh, starting the 25th of August of 2025, we began receiving lots of very interesting updates regarding significant changes on the ground in Russian favor in the western and the northwestern parts of the city of Kupiansk. First, we have this geolocation, this video that was provided by pro-Ukrainian resources. And here we can see how Ukrainians counterattacked the northwestern part of the city of Kupiansk with a small team of Ukrainian soldiers. How Ukrainians were moving from one building to another, clearing the northern and the northwestern parts of the settlement. Based on this video, we came to the conclusion that Ukrainians were counterattacking, of course, positions that were under the control of the armored forces of the Russian Federation. And based on this video, we colored everything to the north in Russian favor. So we have proof that the Russians control not just the territory around the city of Kupiansk, but the Russians are infiltrating the northern part of the city.
Furthermore, uh, several hours later after this video, pro-Ukrainian mappers of the Deep State team published their own update, according to which the Russians managed to improve their positions on the western flank of the city of Kupiansk. Based on this report and based on the video published by pro-Ukrainian resources, we adjusted the map. So, for example, this is the situation on the ground by the end of the 24th of August of 2025. And this is the situation by the end of the 25th of August. According to different sources, the Russians improved their positions once again in the northern part of the city of Kupiansk by taking under control very important positions, and the Russians began an assault operation in the direction of the central part of the city of Kupiansk from the west.
At the same time, pro-Russian resources published additional information about the situation on the ground. Several pro-Russian resources reported that currently the Russians are trying to advance further in the southwestern direction with a purpose to take under control several villages around the settlement of Svatove. Currently, we're talking about the village of Batutivka. In this video, we can see how Russians were clearing the forest between the settlements of Svatove and the settlement of Batutivka. We're talking about this one.
Furthermore, different pro-Russian resources who have connections with the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation and with the group of forces "West" who is currently working in this area, we have additional, uh, map changes. For example, according to several channels, the Russians improved their positions significantly on the western flank of the city of Kupiansk, and today this information was additionally detailed. So, summarizing everything from pro-Ukrainian sources, from pro-Russian resources, by the end of the 20th of August of 2025, the armored forces of the Russian Federation were controlling everything inside of this red line. So everything along this red line and everything inside of this pocket is already under complete control of the armored forces of the Russian Federation and of the Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups who have no problems working in this direction, trying to hunt and destroy Ukrainian forces.
So, if this information is correct and this is the reality on the ground, we understand that Ukrainians currently were caught in a cauldron, not just in the city of Kupiansk, but in the entire Kupiansk conglomeration. When talking about Ukrainians, they have just a small gap, just a small corridor for evacuation. We are talking about the area between, let's say, the city, the village of Osinova and Ukrainian positions in the vicinity of the settlement of Hlushkivka. And we are talking about just a 10-kilometer corridor. And you know that when talking about this corridor, of course, we can say that maybe these updates regarding Russian progress are just a fake or speculation or something like this. But you know that the most important proof we can get, or that will confirm this progress on the ground, is if we increase the numbers of updates in the area of the city of Kupiansk from the beginning of August. And if we increase the numbers of updates, you're going to see that right exactly in this area and right exactly along this corridor, we had a lot of videos of how Russians were bombing and attacking the main pontoon bridges and river crossings that Ukrainians used to use to supply and support their forces on the Russian or on the left bank of the river.
In this video, we can see one of the supply lines, one of the, let's say, evacuation corridors that was under complete Russian control with FPV drones. This is another one in the vicinity of the settlement of Sadova. The same situation. The Russians were attacking and destroying the territory. So, this is the situation on the ground. The Russians established complete control over the main evacuation roads. The Russians improved their positions significantly to the west of the city of Kupiansk. Most likely, the Ukrainians were caught in a cauldron in this area, and this is, uh, very, very interesting.
Furthermore, when talking about this territory, with this about this corridor in 10 kilometers, there are not so many places where Ukrainians can cross the river of Oskil, where Ukrainians can have stable evacuation supply and support roads. It seems that the battle for the city of Kupiansk can be finished much faster in comparison with the information that we can see in the open source. It seems that the battle of the city of Kupiansk and the entire northern Kupiansk direction is coming to its final part and final stage.
Now let's move further and let's discuss the situation in the central Kupiansk direction. During the previous 24 hours, according to information we have, the armed forces of Ukraine carried out a successful counteroffensive operation. At least, uh, this information was called successful by the Ukrainian General Staff. According to information we have, Ukrainians of the third assault brigade carried out a counteroffensive operation in the direction of the village by the name of Nova Mykhailivka, and as a result of the counterattack, the Ukrainians indeed managed to enter the village itself, to raise probably a flag, and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported about that. But later, the Russians sent a lot of FPV drones, and every single soldier from the Ukrainian side who entered Nova Mykhailivka was damaged.
So, let's compare the map between the dates. This is the situation by the end of the 24th of August of 2025, before the beginning of the Ukrainian counteroffensive operation, and this is the situation by the end of the 25th of August. We colored the strongholds under Ukrainian control based on the geolocation, and we colored the village of Nova Mykhailivka under complete Ukrainian control based on the report that was published by pro-Ukrainian resources. So it seems that there are very heavy clashes in this area, but it's better to wait for the Russian counterattack, which obviously is going to take place this coming night, or maybe the Russians have already launched this counteroffensive.
As for the southern Kupiansk direction, according to information we had during the previous 24 hours, the Russians improved their positions along the '0526' road further in the southern direction and shortened the distance to the village of Stelmakhivka. So, basically, the Russians are about to begin the battle for the last defense layer in front of the city by the name of Lyman. So Stelmakhivka, and if Russians take Stelmakhivka under complete control, then there are going to be no settlements, towns, villages, and cities in front of the city by the name of Lyman. So the first village of the last defense layer.
Furthermore, pro-Russian resources reported that the armored forces of the Russian Federation improved their positions significantly on the Ukrainian side of the river of Oskil on the along the eastern part of the settlement of Zarichne. The Russians are consolidating their positions and preparing themselves before the final rush further in the western direction with the purpose to take the village of Zarichne under complete control. And of course, currently there are very heavy clashes for the settlement of Shandryholove. During the previous week, we had a lot of updates regarding the situation in this area. The Russians improved their positions in the northern part. The Russians secured the village of Serebrianske. So it seems that everything is about to be ready before the Russians begin their offensive operation further in the Lyman direction as well. So the battle of Lyman is going to start obviously very soon.
During the previous 24 hours, we haven't received anything about the Siversk, the Serebrianske forest. But today, we got lots of videos with prisoners of war. The Russians captured another batch of Ukrainians who decided to surrender. They were evacuated towards the territory under control of the armored forces of the Russian Federation.
As for the city of Siversk, as you can see, there are very huge activities. The Russians are bombing and attacking the eastern part of the city, trying to reduce ruins, the, um, say, multi-story buildings of that's under control of the forces of Ukraine that Ukrainians use as temporary deployment points and stronghold positions. So, uh, there are still lots of job to do, but obviously we see that the Russians are getting the day when the offensive operation for the Siversk city will start closer and closer to reality.
Now let's talk about the Kostiantynivka direction. During the previous 24 hours, the Russians continued their offensive operation to the north of the settlements of Oleksandrivka and Bilohorivka. Now the Russians are focused to cut the pocket completely and to force the Ukrainians to fall back from this area. This will allow the Russians to maintain the lines, to shorten the distances, and to get the southern part of the city of Kupiansk.
During the first 24 hours, several videos were recorded. For example, in this video, we can see how Ukrainians were attacking a church in the southern part of the city of Oleksandrivka. The author of this post reported that Ukrainians attacked positions of the armored forces of the Russian Federation. Here we can see another video, the same FPV drone attack with the same probably FPV drone crew, Ukrainians attack another building in the vicinity of the church. So, based on this video, we haven't adjusted anything, but these are another confirmation that the Russians entered the village of Oleksandrivka and secured this territory, like the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported. And now the Russians are trying to consolidate themselves before the beginning of the offensive operation further in the northern direction with the purpose to cut this salient and this pocket completely.
During the previous 24 hours, some changes were recorded in the vicinity and along the Donbas canal.
Now let's move further and let's discuss the situation, uh, about the in the Pokrovsk direction and in the vicinity in the area of the Pokrovsk direction. Telling the truth, the 25th of August and the previous 24 hours of the 25th of August of 2025 were the most probably silent period of time since the beginning of the special military operation regarding the Pokrovsk salient and the Pokrovsk direction. So we haven't received almost anything. Some sources reported that the Russians continue their offensive operation in the direction of the settlement of Tetkino, in the direction of the settlement of Svatove. There are very heavy clashes for the settlement of Shakhove. But as you can see, for the first time probably for the previous 20 days, even a single change on the ground wasn't recorded, which is very, very important. Which means that either there are very heavy clashes, or both sides are regrouping before the beginning of a major battle for this territory that can lead to a turning point in the entire situation.
As for the western flank of the city of Pokrovsk, we have small changes in the southwestern part of the settlement of Udachne. This part was colored in Ukrainian favor or in favor of contested area from Ukrainian favor to Russian favor several days ago based on reports of neutral mappers. Today, pro-Ukrainian resources of Deep State confirmed that the southern part of Udachne is under complete Russian control, which means that the battle for this village is also coming to a logical end, and which means that then the Russians will push further in the northern directions towards the Pokrovsk mine, which is the most important and which is the most valuable position of the armored forces of the Russian Federation in this area. From this mine, the Russians will have opportunities and chances to advance further towards the villages of Serhiivka and Tretia, and the settlement of Hirske. So a breakthrough can happen here in coming days.
Now let's discuss the situation in the western flank of the Dnipro region. As you can see, we have a lot of icons, which means that a lot of icons with flags, lots of changes on the ground, which means that currently there are very heavy clashes. After a short period of Ukrainian counteroffensive operation that allowed the Ukrainians to restore control over the village of Zelenyi Hai, Andriivka, and over the settlement by the name of Tishky, the Russians finished regrouping and began their own counteroffensive operation. And the sources are saying that by the end of the 25th of August of 2025, the armored forces of the Russian Federation managed to restore complete control over the settlement by the name of Taltove. We are waiting for additional geolocations, of course, and we are waiting for additional videos that can confirm this.
Furthermore, the Russians outflank Ukrainian positions in the area of Zelenyi Hai, and now they're trying to cut Ukrainians in the village of Zelenyi Hai from the north and from the northwest. Ukrainians, several mappers reported that Ukrainians have control over the territory. So the situation here remains tense, but the most important is that the Russians decided not to allow the Ukrainians to move further and deeper inside the territories under complete Russian control. The Russians counterattacked, and it seems that the situation has been stabilized.
At the same time, the Russians have enough resources to cross the river of Vovcha and to advance in the direction of the settlement of Nova Pokrovka. Here we can see there are also very heavy clashes. The Russians also published a video how exactly they were taken under control the village of Filia, and in this video we can see how the clashes were taking place, and of course, an episode with the Russian flag. The forest to the north is under very heavy fire from the Russian side. Ukrainians are trying to concentrate their forces exactly in this area, and they're planning to use this forest to counterattack the village for the purpose to force the Russians to fall back. So, uh, as you can see, Ukrainians are trying to do everything they can, but not to allow the Russians to cross the river of Vovcha. The Ukrainians don't allow, don't try to, they're trying not to allow the Russians to establish a very strong foothold on the Ukrainian side.
When talking about a strong foothold, of course, first of all, we are talking about control over villages like Havrylivka or at least over the village of Ivanivka. If Russians somehow are able to take under control this or this village, this is going to be the beginning of a complete disaster for the armored forces of Ukraine already in the Dnipro direction.
A bit further in the southwestern direction, as a result of offensive operation, the armored forces of the Russian Federation in the face of the group of forces "East" managed to establish complete control over the settlement of Zaporizhzhia. This is another village that was taken by the Russians in a week or in two weeks. So basically, during the previous two weeks, the Russians captured four or five villages in this area, and we see that the Russians continue advancing, and the most important is that Ukrainians still haven't managed to introduce anything that can stop or that can slow down the Russian progress. With this pace, the Russians will continue advancing, and during the next two or three weeks, the Russians will be able to take under complete control the territory between the settlement of Varvarivka, Kynivska, the village of Nova Mykhailivka, Abatne, and further in the southern direction. So this is the reality. This is the reality that can take place during the next two, three weeks if Ukrainians are not able to show anything and if Ukrainians are not able to slow down or to stop the Russians. And from these positions, the Russians will shorten the distance to the main logistic road between the settlement of Pokrovsk and the city of Huliapole. It's going to be just 16 kilometers, and exactly from this moment, I believe we're going to start receiving first videos of how Russians, after withdrawing and attacking Ukrainian vehicles, supply and support along R85 road, and most likely from this very moment, the Russians will start considering the beginning of offensive operation in the direction of the city of Huliapole. So this is a paratrooper offensive operation. The major battle in this area is just ahead of us.
