5 words/phrases to avoid and what to say instead...

Here's five words or phrases you never want to say in sales unless you want to stay where you're at.

Number one, never say "just to be honest" or "honestly." That implies that you're what? Not always honest. You want to say "just so you're aware" or "just so you know." Just change out those words. Very different.

Number two, never say the word "budget." That implies there's a limit. Budget's a limit. You want to say "funds" or "funding." Sounds like an investment. Sounds something smart.

Number three, never ask "let me ask you a question" and then steamroll them with a question. Sounds kind of pushy. You want to say, "Can I can I ask you something?" or "Can I ask you a question?" More permission based.

Number four, never say, "Sign the contract." You want to say, "Authorize the agreement." You should know this by now. I've trained on this a lot.

And number five, never say, "We're the number one product. We're the number one in the market." Because why? Every prospect hears every salesperson say that and they lose trust automatically. Just seed it when they give you a problem. You can say, "Oh, that's actually one of the biggest reasons why people come to us." Or, "Oh, that's actually a big reason why companies in your space come to us." It implies that everybody comes to you for that problem because you're obviously good to solve it.
