Hey guys, welcome back to Faithfully Following Jesus Christ. I'm Dana.
Today we got the names of all the general conference talks. I'm so excited, but at the same time, a little confused because President Oaks is not preparing us for the second coming of Jesus Christ. The name of his talk confused me. I couldn't figure out why his talk was named this.
So when you first go into the gospel library app and you kind of scroll, you can see everyone's in general conference in each session, it now has the names of everyone's talks. So President Oaks is called "Alive in Christ." Great. He kicks off Easter with talking about the resurrection, the literal resurrection of Jesus Christ. That's great. Except I felt like a whole bunch of his talk wasn't really talking about the resurrection. It was talking about loving your enemies and loving your adversaries and living some of these like higher and harder laws that Christ gave us to be peacemakers. He asked us to do the entire sermon on the mount again. And now with the internet and with all these things, like these teachings are so epic. Everything points back to Jesus Christ. As President Nelson said, the answer is always Jesus Christ.
But if the first part of the talk matched his title, how did he choose that title for his talk? Well, I realized President Oaks is not preparing us for the second coming. He is preparing us to live with Jesus Christ in the resurrection. And that was given to us by his title, "Alive in Christ." Well, when are we alive in Christ? When our body and our spirit are put back together to never be separated again in the resurrection, and we quite literally become alive in Christ. So that is something I found right off the bat, just from the title of his talk versus what he actually said on General Conference.
So I cannot wait to keep showing you the different patterns I saw. I was supposed to be talking to you about the Saturday morning session and the patterns and the threads that I saw all throughout, but I had to cancel it because this was kind of epic. We got the title, and how did that relate? It didn't relate, and then I saw it totally relates, and we are being prepared to live with Jesus Christ forever.
