Greetings. I am Athishaya, an advocate from the Madras High Court. We are here today on behalf of the advocate wing of the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam. The reason we have come here is that Mr. Seeman, during a recent public speech, spoke disparagingly and in a singular tone about our Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Mr. Joseph Vijay, and the Minister for Fisheries, Mr. Srinath. We strongly condemn this and have filed a complaint against Seeman. This is a copy of the complaint.
Seeman, when asked about the "Kattathivai" (likely a reference to a film or topic), stated that the Minister for Fisheries said "No comments" three times. Mr. Seeman, who has been active in politics for many years, has, out of political animosity, spoken disparagingly and in a singular tone about the Chief Minister and the esteemed ministers, who are elected representatives of the people. This is a matter that deserves strong condemnation.
Furthermore, speaking at another event, he said that Mr. Joseph Vijay has acted in 69 films, and not even one of them is a good film. He also mockingly and sarcastically asked, "Seeing my smoking style, Dhanalakshmi desired it, is this something?" Cinema should be viewed as cinema. Politics is different from cinema. Mr. Seeman himself is still involved in the film industry. Therefore, his speaking in this manner is condemnable.
Our Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Mr. Joseph Vijay, after becoming Chief Minister, went to meet Mr. Seeman out of respect. It is unacceptable that our Tamil Nadu Chief Minister is being spoken to in a singular tone without even that basic political courtesy.
Moreover, within a month of coming to power, our Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Mr. Joseph Vijay, has implemented many welfare schemes. For example, 717 liquor shops have been closed. 200 units of electricity have been provided free of charge. Crop loans up to ₹50,000 have been waived for farmers. The "Singappen" (Lioness) rapid action force has been created. Duty on cotton imports has been waived up to 11%. A ban has been imposed on deep borewells. He is identifying and taking appropriate action against corruption in departments like temples, medicine, and ration. The ₹1000 monthly allowance for women is being provided without interruption. The Amma Unavagam (Mother's Kitchen) is being improved with delicious and tasty food. Water problems and bus problems in certain constituencies are being rectified, and good work is being done for the people. New fans have been installed in government hospitals and some other hospitals.
For a Chief Minister who has done so much good within a month, speaking in such a disparaging manner, and people laughing. Seeman speaking disparagingly for laughter and applause in that gathering, and speaking disparagingly about the Minister for Fisheries, Srinath, has been strongly condemned, and we have filed a defamation case complaint against Seeman at the Commissioner's office.
We have filed this complaint to ensure that in the future, Mr. Seeman does not continue to speak in such a mocking and sarcastic manner, and does not speak disparagingly about the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and other ministers. We have been provided with a copy of this complaint, and we have been told that appropriate action will be taken. Thank you, greetings.
We are issuing this as a warning to Mr. Seeman. I also wish to record here that we have filed this complaint against him to prevent him from speaking like this in the future. That's all.
