When it comes to pet battles, you probably look at it and think, "Well, on the face of it, this seems very simple. You just grab yourself a few pets. You go out in the world and you'll slowly level them up." Well, actually, there's tons going on under the hood that you need to know about. There's no point going out and spending hours and hours on farming what you would consider a rare pet for it then to turn out to not actually be the best version of that pet that you can get.
What's going on with my hat? For some reason, it turns round whenever I'm doing pet battles. Also, very shiny. Thanks for subscribing if you haven't already. You might as well hit it now. So, today I want to talk you through everything from where to start, where to get pets that sell for really big gold, how to boost them pets for even bigger gold, and actually in general, how to level pets really, really quick, which is actually a really popular question when I'm streaming, which is pretty much every night for about 10 to 12 hours on kick. There's a link in the description. You might as well come over and give us a follow. And actually, leveling pets to 25 takes no time at all once you've got your initial pets leveled up and out of the way. And then also when you get these random stones that you can use to upgrade the rarity of your pets, what pets should you actually be using them on?
Now, I also want to talk about a couple of add-ons that really help with everything we're going to talk about today. So, I want to get those out of the way first. But the two that you absolutely should get is Battle Pet Breed ID. This is going to be extremely important when you're trying to get that perfect version of the pet that you want to farm. And then also Pet Tracker, which Pet Tracker just has tons and tons of great built-in features, like being able to see all of the trainers that you're going to go out and fight in the world and see their exact pet composition, so you can make the best pet composition to basically counter that. And it also stores a history of the fights against those pets as well. Not only that though, if you are a collector and you want to get all the pets from all of the zones, then it actually shows you a zone tracker when you're in that zone, so you know what pets you need to go out and focus on getting. Another great add-on is Rematch, which I believe the retail version is actually working in Mr. Pandaria, but I've not tried it myself. I do use Rematch on Retail, so if you can get a classic version working, then happy days.
Firstly, where do you start? There are a few really powerful pets, including Arthus, which was from doing all the old protocol dungeons back in Wrath of the Lich King. So, if you haven't got that, I would actually recommend getting a couple of people together or maybe even soloing it and grabbing that cuz it is quite powerful. Even the dark moon pets that we've spoke about before, like the dark moon tonk or the dark moon zeppelin. And then there's some real obvious ones that come from raid like Anubisf Idol from AQ40 from Twin Emperors, the Phoenix Hawk Hatchling from Tempest Keeps, also strong, but we're going to get into that soon. Really, just use any three pets and start leveling them up. And the way you're going to do this is just work your way through the quest line. Now, I know this seems really basic, but this is just where you should start.
Now, the reason I spoke about the add-ons right at the start is because this is going to help straight away. When you open your pet journal, if you go to rivals, you'll be able to see what pet trainer you're currently on the quest for. So, if for example, you're on your way over to fight Lindsay in Red Ridge Mountains, you can see what level her pets are and what type they are. So, preferably here, you know, you're going to want to use beast abilities of some description because these are critters and they're going to be taking that extra damage from beast abilities. The main thing about this though is that you can see the levels. So, you know, on your way to flying over to defeat Lindsay, you at least want one of your pets to be around the same level as her pets. And then when you're moving on to Eric Davidson, you know they're level seven, so you probably want at least a level six. So on your way between pet battle and pet battle, just have a quick check at what level the pets are and do a few wild pet battles just out in the open world just to grab a level or two on your way to defeating the pet trainers. And then just do that all the way until you run out of quests and they become dailies. Once you've finished all of the pet battle trainers, you should be at the point where you've got a few level 25s, or at least they're going to be very close.
Now, you can start boosting other pets. Now, my personal preference here is to actually go around and do the dailies each day, carrying one or two pets. So, that would be having one really strong pet and one really low-level pet, and just going through all of the dailies. And by the time you've done those daily pet battles, you're going to have an extra two, maybe even three pets leveled up to level 25. But another really good way of boosting pets is by literally boosting pets. Go to somewhere where there's lots of pet battles going on. Start with a level one and just survive that first round and then switch to a level 25 pet. You'll literally get five or six levels for each pet battle you do. You can get a pet from level one to about level 20 in literally 15 minutes.
Now, the reason this is really important is because if you go to, let's say, Blackwing Lair to get Creminius, which is a really strong pet that drops from the raid and it drops from Chromagus, obviously, if you get that, you can sell it on the auction house for big gold. But if you level it up in 15, 20 minutes and get to level, even 20, not even got to get to 25, someone will see that it's already level 20 and they will pay an extra couple of thousand gold for it. So honestly, when you go and farm these raids for pets, for gold, make sure you at least get them some levels first so yours stands out on the auction house ahead of everybody else's.
Now, it's worth noting if you think, "Oh, I'm just going to rush over to the auction house and buy a few level 25 pets. You can't do that when you first start. So, don't get caught out by this because you have to level a pet first before you can actually have a pet of that level. So, you need to level a pet to 25 first before you can then buy and start using other people's level 25 pets. I wanted to just mention that in case you're like, "Oh, cool. I've done all my pre-ra bits and now I'm ready to start doing pet battles." And you try and cut a corner by going to the auction house and spending 10 15,000 gold on a pet that you're not going to be able to use.
Now, that covers where to start well enough. Just go through the quests and you now know how to boost pets up to level 25 very quickly. Now, what about these rare pets that you're seeing everybody talk about that come from raids? Firstly, it looks like Knack is bugged. So, yes, there's pets like the stitched pup or the fungal abomination. These currently at the time of making this video are not dropping. Now, it's maintenance day in NA, so that could be fixed and they get added in, but they don't actually come to a later phase anyway. They weren't in originally with Mr. Panderia when it launched. It come in a later phase. So, they could be holding these back until phase 2 maybe. So, at the moment, don't waste your time going to Knack because it would appear that they're not dropping. However, going to places like Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Carazan, SSC, TK, some of these are a little bit challenging for certain classes, but most classes will be absolutely fine. I personally have been soloing places like Molten Core and Blackwing Lair, but then I've been buddying up with my friend Stark, and we've been duoing places like AQ40. We even went and duoed Knack and found out that nothing was dropping. And quite honestly, while I know you're thinking, "Yeah, but who gets the pet? Are you just going to roll? That's a waste of time. You should have went on your own." Well, it's just fun to do things with other people now and again. So, it's not to say that you can't solo all these raids, but if you do struggle, don't feel bad getting a friend. Just go on a couple of characters and do a couple of runs and take it in turns of getting the pet each.
Now, I would just sit and say what the standout pets are, like Anubis F Idol and like Creminius, but honestly, you're going to want to get all of these. There's absolutely no reason not to have a really wide range of pets that are level 25 cuz then you can use add-ons to build teams. You can even get pet battle script, which is another add-on that I hadn't mentioned and I wasn't going to mention it because I think that's getting a bit advanced, but you can literally script how the pets work. I don't know if that made sense. Maybe it'll be clearer. You can basically say, I want my pets to do XYZ in these orders, and it'll do it. So, if you use certain composition of pets for certain trainers, because you know this comp absolutely destroys this pet trainer, then you can use something like pet battle scripts and rematch to save the different group comps that you use for each different trainer and a script to basically do the pet battle for you. Pretty cool in my opinion.
Now, when it comes to the upgrade stones, I can't really tell you exactly what you should use these on, but I can tell you how I use them. I would rarely use these on a wild pet that you capture outdoors outside of something like Unborn Valkyr that can be a bit of a pain to farm. Even though in classic it's actually seemed very easy. I would always be prioritizing these on things that I can't get a rare variant of somewhere else. So this would be things like quest rewards where you get a pet but it's a green pet. Now you're never going to be able to get that as a rare pet unless you use a stone on it. Or even things like green wing macor that drop from dead mines. That's not something you're going to be able to get a rare variant of. Now, I'm sure the list of these would be endless, so I'm not going to sit and go through every single one, but just think, can I get a rare version of this pet from somewhere else? If the answer's no, probably a good one to use a stone on, or if it was just an absolute pain to go out and farm, then of course use a stone on it as well.
But this is where breeds come in. Now, this is something that I've not seen anyone really talk about, and that's how the breeds work. And this is why we've got the breed ID add-on that we spoke about at the start. Now, lots of pets that are like rare rewards from world events or from raids and dungeons and stuff like that normally just have a single breed, so you don't have to worry about it. But most wild pets have got multiple breeds that you can get them in. Now, the reason this is important is because of their stat allocation. Now, there's no clear-cut answer of this breed is always best for this pet. Instead, as you get more into pet battling, you'll start to understand what breed is stronger for certain pet types. So, for example, a flying pet. Now, a flying pet gets 50% extra speed while it's above 50% health. So, if you was to get a 515 breed, which a 515 breed would be speed. So, these four letters, which are HP, SMB, stand for health, power, speed, and balance. So, if you got a speed speed pet, that means 20 points in total have been allocated to the speed stat. Now, a 20 point allocation is the most that you can get, and this will always be in HH, so you get 20 points in health. PP, which will be 20 points in power, or SS, which is 20 points in speed. Now, the reason you wouldn't really want an SS flying pet is purely because it's already got a 50% speed bonus above 50% health. So, actually having health and power or health health or power power would be better. But really, you're going to want health with a flying pet purely because the longer it's above 50% health, the longer it's benefiting from that 50% speed. So, there's no real way of me saying this breed will always be best for every pet because it will come down to what you're using. But a great way to find out what is going to be good for you is if you go to warcraft pets.com and let's say you wanted to look at an unborn Valky. If we look at the top 20 rated pets, Anubis idol unborn Valkyia are right up there along with a couple of pets that you can't actually get yet. But you can see Chrominius there as well. But let's look at an Unborn Valk. Now, if you've gone out and grabbed one of these, you might not actually have the version that you really want because if we go to battle info, you can now see that you can get this in a HH breed, so it's just going to have lots of health. Or you can see you can get it in a BB breed, which is balanced balanced. So what balanced balanced looks like is this 1222 breed. So, you're going to have nine points in health, four points in power, and four points in speed. So, you're going to have 17 in total. Now, I've got to be honest, it would be very difficult for me to tell you which one you should go for, either HH or BB, because it really depends how you're going to use it. Health would be really good if you're actually wanting to stay alive as long as possible and let the dot damage do its work. survive more AoE based teams, which trust me, there'll be lots of those, but then going for the balance balance option might be better because if you was to come up against another team with an unborn Valkyr in and they've got health health, but you've got balance balance and you're both opening with a valky, you're going to go first. I think in PvP really the breeds is where it's most important. I don't think in PvE it matters all that much unless you're just trying to get the perfect pets just because that's what you want to do. But depending on what you're doing with the pets really depends on what you would consider to be the best. But overall, being able to see what breeds each pet is before you actually try and capture it is going to be really beneficial longterm, especially when we're going around Klai Summit trying to get the perfect Klai runs because these things are absolute beasts. Not literally, they're actually humanoids, but you know what I mean. But again, if you want to know what breeds each pet can be, I'd recommend just looking on Warcrafts.com at whichever pet you're interested in. But quite honestly, I would say that's a bit min maxi when it comes to pet battles. Really, you don't need to do any of that.

I literally cannot wait to start building my comps for each different trainer and each different beast of the fable in Mr. Pandera itself. And then I'll share with you all my comps and how I've got them set up. And if you want to use any of them, obviously feel free. But I will be pretty much spending the rest of the pre- patch either just raiding or doing pet battles or doing the old raids to get the pets that I'm missing.
