Everybody wants to talk about Naruto's son carrying pain. Meanwhile, Sasuke's daughters over here sacrificing her future eyesight like she's making a blood payment to the Uchia clan subscription service. And the most terrifying part, Sakura already realized it before part of the fandom did.

So, for years now, people treated Sarda like she was supposed to be the normal Uchia, the emotionally stable one who would rise above the hate, the hopeful one, the reflection of what the Uchia could be. growing up in an era where war wasn't a thing, where loss of life wasn't something widespread. The kid who would finally break the curse of the clan and become hokag without trauma and terrorism, emotional damage, eye related OSHA violations and hippo violations that come from snatching the eyes of a loved one after saying nice makio sharing you got there. Yeah, about that, right?
There's a shift that's occurring right now because Boruto Tubu Vortex has quietly turned Sara into the closest thing Naruto as a franchise has ever had to the new Itachi. And Sakura's recent words basically confirmed it without directly saying his name. Now, the moment this happened, the Itachi fans who are only keeping up with boards over via clips and out of context panels, their brain, it melted down and they were saying, "How dare Sakura compare even if it's indirectly sort of to Itachi? She wears glasses. Itachi, he's our blind as a bat clankilling glorious king who is one cough from dying of a mysterious illness that might be ninja HIV." And when they get done saying that they'll look you dead in the face and say he still beats Jura even though Itachi is a Delta victim.
What Sakura said about Sarda matters because she frames Sarda as someone willing to stand on her convictions even when the entire world turns against her family. That wording matters and it's important. It's important enough that someone who hasn't paid any attention to Sarda's arc, it's character redefining for them. When in reality, it's just further proof of why she's worthy becoming Hokag after she racks up enough accolades to impress the feudal lord. Sakura didn't just compare Sa to Naruto. She didn't need to do that. That never needed to be said because it would be an obvious comparison. Naruto wouldn't become Hokag until he saves Sasuke and Sarda won't allow herself to be Hokag until Boruto and Sasuke can walk back into the village's free men. She didn't even frame Sarda as the same optimistic shownen hero who smiles through pain. Sarda isn't going to need a super suit to play with her friends anymore or have a big final battle to determine the next Hokag while the entire village is watching her fight her hokag rival. No, she frames Sard as someone who walks the same lonely road that Itachi and Sasuke did. The same lonely road that she and Naruto walked for the longest time, even when their own sensei, Kakashi, briefly gave up on Sasuke being worthy of redemption. That is a gigantic narrative choice. It's one that sets up an amazing payoff later on because look at Saw's positioning right now.
The entire world believed that Boruto murdered Naruto, the guy who saved the world more time than he has children. The guy who went from the very bottom of the academy to getting his face carved on the Hokag monument to be remembered for generations to come. On the 180th anniversary of Naruto's death, after Naruto finally dies due to high sodium in a ramen cup, there will be tales of the tale of Naruto that sounds so outrageous that future generations will doubt if any one man could have ever had so much power or accomplished so much despite starting off with so very little talent. The entire world believes that Sasuke betrayed the village again to help a supposed Kag killer escape. The ghost of Toby Rama is looking up from cell block D with Danzo in a bunker plotting on how to climb back up to the world of the living to finish the job because the only good Uchia is a dead Uchia as far as they're concerned due to how far the clan fell. Toby Rama is saying Uchia with that hard ha at the end thinking about how he got fooled and then thinking that Sasuke might be different. And despite all that, Sawa spent the last 3 years openly fighting against the will of the world itself. It was one angry redeyed girl shouting at everyone that will listen their wrong. That level of conviction, that level of passion, that level of just having big balls enough to stand up for what you believe in. It would inspire even the smallest breadcrumb of respect for Sarda. Even if you disagree with her and you think that she's crazy, you still have to respect the fact that she was passionate enough to defend Boruto that she took on the entire world. And in hindsight, people will know that Sard was right all along. She wasn't just fighting anything. Instead, she was fighting a whole different beast. It wasn't public opinion. It wasn't propaganda. Instead, it was literally reality manipulation. That is insane. Omnipotence didn't just trick people. It rewrote emotional logic. It rewrote instinct. It rewrote memory. Kawaki became Naruto's real son in everyone's mind. While Boruto became the outsider. Even people who sense inconsistencies in their memories still emotionally defaulted back to the altered truth because the Shinjjutsu was just that powerful. People saw Kawaki with Ishiki's chakra in a ninjate body. They saw Sarda pass out photos of baby Boruto and they still couldn't break free because omnipotence was basically rewriting the code in real time. Yet Sarda resisted it. She was immune and she resisted the social pressure that came from everyone else being affected by omnipotence.
And what's scary is that Sarda resisting omnipotence control over the masses, it mirrors Itachi resisting the ideology of the Uchia clan. Both characters saw a truth that nobody around them could accept or knew. Both were willing to do the brave thing, the honorable thing, the controversial thing, even if it meant standing alone and being hated. Even if it meant giving up on their dream, which this next part will make Itachi speech to Naruto hit harder as well as Sakura's words to Sarda. Because in the Itachi story in a scene that the anime didn't adapt when it adapted the Itachi stories in Shaputin because they cut it out, Itachi had the same dream as Sarda to be the first Uchiaokag. And yet Itachi threw it all away all for the sake of the village just as Sarda was willing to throw hers away to stand up for Boruto. That's why Sarda feeling isolated right now is such a good idea. It's because she has been basically on her own outside of Samira for the last three years. People misunderstand her. People distrust her. Some people are disappointed in her just as Shikamaru and Konahamu were at the start of Bor to Blue Vortex. People think her emotions are irrational. People think that Sakura probably dropped Sarda on the head a few times as a baby if she can support Boruto. Sarda even owns up to the fact that her father is a traitor when she's in the Hokagi office and she still refuses to abandon her faith in Boruto and Sasuke. And worst of all, she can't fully explain herself because people quite literally cannot comprehend the truth of omnipotence when she's explaining it to him. That's Itachi all over again, minus the whole playing hide the katana aspect. Itachi acknowledged and carried the knowledge that no one else could emotionally process what he went through and allowed himself to be hated for the next damn near decade from the time that he was 13 to when he died at the age of 21. Which reminder, the anime made Itachi during the massacre look a lot older than he actually was. Itachi and Sasuke were only five years apart in the manga. And Sasuke had only been in the first year of his time at the Ninja Academy when that happened. He understood the coup and the dangers of it. He understood Danzo's words and the failures of the third Hokag waiting so long to negotiate seriously with Duchia clan. He understood the impossible position the clan and the village were in at the very moment he was asked to massacre the clan because they had long since passed the Rubicon line. If you don't know what that means, look up Julius Caesar in the Rubicon line and it'll make a lot more sense. And because he understood that much, he became isolated from everyone around him. Sarda is going through that exact same loneliness in a different way. And the really tragic part, she chose it willingly. That's where she becomes terrifyingly similar to Itachi.
People forget this because Itachi became romanticized over the time by the fandom. And as a former number one Itachi's biggest fan and troll as a part of the Church of Itachi back in the day, I can admit played a huge role in spreading the memes of Itachi Tosska beats Hashiama and Kaga. But Itachi's defining character characteristic was self-sacrifice taken to an unhealthy extreme. If we're looking at it a bit more objectively, this man destroyed his own reputation, destroyed his own mental health, let the world hate him, let Sasuke hate him, carried the burden entirely by himself because he believed suffering alone was preferable to letting others suffer. He did he have his reasons? Yes. But this was one major burden to carry around and it wasn't a healthy one at that. Look at Sara. She's risking her hokag dream for Boruto. That's not a small detail. Momoshiki said those immune to omnipotence will suffer the most. And Sarda definitely suffered when you look at the totality of what she went through after omnipotence. The story directly tells us that her dream is in jeopardy because her actions defending Boruto and Sasuke are affecting it. That means Sara knowingly chose to gamble away her own future for people the world branded as criminals. That is pure Itachi behavior. Somewhere Itachi is stuck in purgatory thinking about his niece Sarda and wondering why she doesn't use crows in battles and use Genjutsu more. Itachi also sacrificed his own future and identity for people he loved and for the betterment of the village even when they themselves didn't know it. The difference is that Sarda's motivation came from love instead of obligation to one's village and one's clan. And honestly, that makes it even sadder. Itachi was trapped by duty. The Chia were getting ready to dishonor themselves with the rebellion. And in the aftermath of the coup, villages like the Hidden Cloud Village, who by this point in the timeline were less than four years removed from the treaty that was signed to officially end the fighting between them just prior to the Huga instant arc that took place where the head cloud village ninja tried to kidnap Hinata. The cloud village would invade in the embers of the civil war. Itachi had duty to protect the village, to protect his clan, and to wear the shame of being a clan killer, hoping to set things right by having Sasuke kill him. And by extension, restore the Uchia clan, since restore the Uchia clan was about more than restoring the clan in terms of repopulating it. Sada is trapped by emotion and devotion. She loves Boruto enough that she is willing to endure social isolation, political backlash, emotional trauma, and now literal blindness if it means helping him survive enough to clear his name. That line about her potentially going blind for Boruto for his sake is one of the darkest development in Sard's character. Because think about what it means psychologically. Sort of is essentially saying, "I may never ever see the happy ending I'm fighting for, but I'm still going to fight for it anyway." That's unbelievably painful. And once again, it parallels Itachi perfectly. Itachi protected a future that he knew he would never get a chance to live in, and he did it anyway. Sarda is potentially sacrificing her eyesight for a future she may never get to witness herself. Again, this is where suspension of disbelief comes into play, as does the knowledge that we as the audience have dramatic irony. We know she's likely going to get EMS to fix her vision, but Saw as a character, she's marching down this path, and she doesn't know that. The dramatic irony is that again, we as the audience know that information, but it doesn't eliminate the stakes for the character in real time. Massive distinction and clarification needs to be had there. That is the uchia curse in its rawest form. Loving people so deeply that you destroy yourself in the process. If you have to do it for their benefit, that's huge. That's a level of love and dedication that honestly if you have someone willing to fall on a grenade for you or give you the shirt off their back like that, you're probably a lucky man or a woman. Find yourself a love like the Uchia just minus the crazy stuff that comes since they're born with more chemical imbalances than the average person. Toby Rama explained a long time ago that through Chia they experience love more intensely than anyone else. And what makes the clan so dangerous isn't hatred itself. It's their love becomes so overwhelming that when they lose something precious. When they feel disappointment in themselves, it twists itself and that leads itself towards their destruction. But the fascinating part with Z is that her love isn't turning into hatred. It's turning into endurance. That's why she's different from other also mirroring Itachi. Itachi became a martyr for peace. Sarda is becoming a martyr for truth. That parallel matters a lot. That's why Sakura's words feel so heavy. Sakura understands the road that Sard's walking down right now because she understood what Sasuke and Itachi went through. She watched Sasuke isolate himself from everyone. She watched him shower hatred. She knows about what Itachi went through. And now she's seen some of those traits appearing in Sarda. In particular, the conviction, not the anger, not the revenge, the willingness to silently suffer for someone else, for something bigger than yourself.
And what's terrifying right now is how calm Sarda is about it. Yes, Sarda has been shown crying, but she openly acknowledges the blindness risk now, and she still walks head first into it without any hesitation. Or Sarda was using Mongekio recklessly without knowing the side effects. Now she understands the consequences and she's still doing it. That's very very horrifyingly similar to Itachi because her use of Mongeko shaing gun is a intentional self-destruction. You got to remember Itachi was literally dying trying to fight Sasuke and set Sasuke up for a hero's journey. He wanted Sasuke to kill him so Sasuke could be a hero. Sarda's entering into a similar territory just in a different way. Ikimoto is being very deliberate with the symbolism in parallel here. Itachi's eyes became associated with sacrifice and revenge and redemption. Sarda's eyes, yeah, they're being associated with sacrifice for Boruto, too, but the situation's different.
